So we just got back home from having dinner here. This was our first visit. I love going to a good Hibachi Grill. This one could have been better. Some of my issues are just from this being a first time visit so I don’t know what to expect. Those can be rectified next time. I took a star away from them because they sat us at a table that already had six good sized adults at the table and so I had to sit half way out in the aisle with barely any room to enjoy my meal. They came and got our drinks and order pretty quickly. The wait staff are American which is a first for me in a Hibachi place. I liked their food for the most part. I ordered the steak with fried rice which was a $ 2 up-charge which annoyed me since most places that comes with the meal. They were skimpy with the ingredients in the fried rice. I tend to prefer lots of onion, egg and veggies in mine. They put two eggs in for 8 people. Noodles was included and that was all it was with some sauce on them. Not a fan of that but then I come only for the fried rice, veggies and the steak. Of course the meal came with the standard soup and salad which I declined, I do not like that ginger dressing at all. It took a very long time to get started since the Chef who cooked our meal had to finish the table he was at before he could even go gather the items to prepare ours. Hibachi is my favorite thing to eat. My only complaint is that they cook so slowly that by the time you get your steak you have either eaten all the side items or they are ice cold because you were trying to wait for the rest of the meal. They loaded down the veggies with mushrooms which I hate. So next time I will make sure to tell them to cook mine separately. Everyone at the table but the two of us ordered seafood which I do not like it when they keep using the same utensils to cook my food as they use for all that seafood. I will say that all the meats, even the seafood looked to be of very good quality. They actually gave me an entire piece of steak with was awesome. The other person with me got the Chicken and said it was really good as well. They must have one hell of a kids menu at this place because in all my years of eating at these style of restaurants I don’t think if you add them all together that I have seen as many little kids as this place had. They all behaved for the most part. Luckily for me they were not at my table. We will definitely go back. I will just be more aggressive about not being packed into tables like sardines. And I will specify that I want veggies without mushrooms. Definitely worth the money I thought.

I like their Hibachi grills. It is not really a Japanese but good food and interesting performance.

Good to know we have hibachi grills on the west side! I however decided to order sushi this time around and they were solid, meaty pieces with some specialty rolls priced around $ 9! Unfortunately, Domo never has specials anytime during the week so it has stiff competition with other restaurants with daily sushi specials whose specialty rolls are more expensive, but at the end of the day, the tab is much cheaper. We started with one server who switched over to another without explanation, but worked for me because she was the sweetest woman with a punch of humor! Domo should definitely be considered for hibachi grilled meals as they supply you with endless yum yum sauce and raw humor, but for sushi maybe not so much.

Visiting my daughter and we are here. The grill master was a little under practiced. Food was good. Unfortunately they got our order wrong. Paid 75 dollars for three people. Really a lot of food. Not the best representation but a quiet small venue.

Best sushi in Bloomington. Hibachi is very good as well. The staff is always friendly and do their best even when they are super busy. We go here often and have never had a bad experience. Highly recommend!

We left before ordering for two reasons. 1) Incredibly slow service, 2) Dirty conditions even in the main seating area. I left before I could get food poisoning.

On a return trip I had sushi here for the very first time, and it was outstanding. The nigiri was fresh and complemented the maki with which it was paired very well. They made an excellent crab salad as a topping to several of the rolls and it was delicious. I just can’t fathom how reviewers complain about the food here.

This place is a lot of fun! If you go and don’t want to sit at the grill table, then your experience won’t be in line with this review. We went on a rainy Friday night because we wanted to try something new. We both love Japanese steakhouses and we had yet to try this one. We ordered the steak/chicken/shrimp platter for two and it was amazing! The meat cooked just right and the rice. Wow. It was good! Their careless regard for the use of tons of butter scared me not! And the show was fun. It was a shame because the other people at the table(we weren’t with them, they just pair you to a table if it’s not full) were more interested in what was going on their phones rather than the grill. What a shame. Anyways. Service was great. I have a mushroom allergy and they were able to adapt to that for me! One thing. This used to be a Longhorn Steak House, so some of the décor still is around, which makes it a weird combination. Other than that, it was good. Try it. You’ll like it. Our bill after all was said and done was around $ 65-$ 70.

I love sushi, and Domo has the best quality raw fish in Bloomington. I have eaten here dozens of times and it has always been delicious. The prices are just right — I feel like you get what you pay for and it’s worth paying a little extra to get good quality fresh seafood(who wants to eat stinky strip mall sushi? Not me!) So bottom line, if you’re looking for delicious sushi that is reasonably priced and won’t make you sick, Domo is the place to be in Bloomington.

The food was decent. Service was not too good the waitress was rude and took our dishes and didn’t ask if we were even done. Like I said the food is pretty good but it was WAY over priced for what you’re getting.

Bad service, long wait. The food sat in the window, clearly visible for over ten minutes for several orders before ours. When I saw our order come up, I had a stopwatch going, and when the waitress finally brought us the food, I let her know how long it had been. She then argued with me that she walks by every two minutes. Drinks sat empty for ages and waitress was argumentative and unapologetic.

Tonight was a very poor experience at Domo. First our drinks were not filled by original person who came by. The most annoying aspect was that we watched as our plate of sushi sat on the bar for 10 minutes before it was brought to our table. The waitress argued with us about the length of time. We used a phone to time it so we knew how long. The sushi itself was really good. The service ruined the whole experience. Not gonna rush back to Domo.

Went in to place a to go order. After about 10 minutes someone was finally able to take my order and my roommate and I paid. She told us to sit down and wait for about 15 minutes. Currently it’s been 30 and we still don’t have our food. I will not be returning.

Overall I just was’t impressed for spending $ 120 for two for a early diner. My food didn’t agree with me at all, and I usually find Japanese a real treat. My wife loved her steak and lobster. Personally I was just shocked at the prices. Had I know it was $ 37 for a steak and lobster entrée, I’d went next door, to tumbleweed, like everyone else. Everything seemed so way overpriced. Probably why the place was dead. I also noticed the ‘cowboy’ theme and couldn’t figure out what they were doing. But after reading, I realize they didn’t bother updating. Said they had free wifi, but that must have been a leftover sign as well. There were TV all over, like a sports bar, but not bar. At $ 60 a head, you think they could do a few updates other than 8TV. It wasn’t the worst, but I’d been better sticking the the Japanese restaurants I am familiar with.

I really wanted to give this place a higher rating but I’ve been twice now for both lunch and dinner and honestly the sushi is just okay. The service on the other hand was spectacular except the part where they got my order confused with another table and tried to charge me for the other order. I will give this place another try but only for the hibachi grill

I pretty much just come here to satisfy that sushi craving on my lunch breaks only. Its the only sushi spot that I can make it to within my hour lunch break… and it usually takes more than an hour. The salad they give is just iceberg. I like the dressing… but its is less than basic salad. The sushi is OK. Nothing super creative or over-the-top. Atmosphere leaves much to be desired. This was an old Tumbleweed restaurant, and the cactus and bullhorns are still around. Never had that in a japanese restaurant. I say it’s good enough to pay lunch prices. They have a strict rule at their hibachi tables that at least ½ the group must order hibachi. This caused violent arguments between me and staff on my birthday…

ABISMALSERVICE. Awful. Horrendous. Unacceptable. We were in shock at how terrible it was. Slow is an understatement, English isn’t spoken … downright incompetent. I felt like I was in a foreign country. Our group of 11 arrived for our 7pm reservation right on time. They had three empty hibachis but our table was still being set. So we waited and then were seated in a few minutes. Here we go. They took our drink orders almost right away. And then we waited … and waited … and waited … ANDWAITED. We waited FOURTYMINUTES to receive our drinks. Out of our drinks, TWO were mixed drinks, the rest were beers and sake. Like bottled beer and sake. The 11 of us have been sitting around the table, waiting for our drinks, a chef and waters. After getting our drinks, we then wait another HALFHOUR to get glasses of water. At this point, we have been seated and waiting for SEVENTYFIVEMINUTES for a chef to show up. We are starving. We ask what is going on and the communication is non existent because the waitress doesn’t really speak English. Finally the chef shows up. He’s a nice guy, doing his tricks and making our food. We didn’t get our main courses for another thirty minutes. The food itself was actually really good. But maybe we thought that because we were delirious from hunger. At this point, after we have finished our meal it has been 2.5HOURS. Now comes the check. We ask to split as always since every restaurant in our area almost automatically does this given it’s a college town and everyone’s splitting bills. Now. we wait. AGAIN. Waiting, waiting, waiting. Twenty minutes later, one girl from our group goes up and checks to see what’s happening. The splitting of checks is neurosurgery at this place. They are working on it. Okay? Another ten minutes later I go up to ask if I can help because it is getting ridiculous. We finally get our bills and get out as fast as we can. OVERTHREEHOURSLATER, we are finished. We are full but that service alone had our group saying we would never go back. The two stars are solely for the fact that we liked the food once our aching bellies got it. Domo, you’re in the middle of Indiana. Have servers who speak English and can handle waiting on tables of a set size. It’s hibachi for crying out loud. You expect a full table and know what you’re going to get. It’s a pretty simple equation. The service is an embarrassment. Anyone who says otherwise on Unilocal is straight up lying to you.

Only ever been here for the sushi at lunchtime. Apparently they have hibachi tables… bet they’re decent. But when I see that list of fish slices rolled up in rice, I simply can’t resist! Never seen the place crowded. But that’s not a bad thing really. The staff was extremely friendly here.

Be sure to try the sushi! The hibachi is certainly good, but the sushi is the hidden gem. What a find for Bloomington! You WILL go home smelling like food, though. Don’t take your leather jacket.
