My wife ordered my food before I got there. I showed up about 5 minutes later and then waited 20 minutes for my meal. They never even made it. We were the only people in the restaurant as well. I will not be back. Oh and the light over our table is hanging on by the wire nuts.

The sushi is pretty good. I go there occasionally to get a couple rolls. They’re a little small, but they’re decent. Everything else is pretty bad. The ramen is absolutely terrible(you can make it better yourself from the 99 cent stuff) and the service is even worse. I’ve gotten other dishes there as well(bento box lunch, etc.) and they’ve been pretty bad. Seriously, I can’t stress this enough. Stick with the sushi and you’ll have a good time of the place.

This used to be my all-time favorite sushi place in Bloomington and maybe even the first restaurant to really get me hooked on quality sushi. When I was in my undergrad, I came here often with my friends because we could sit around for hours and even be offered the private rooms in the back if they had not yet been previously reserved. However, I’m not in my undergrad anymore and I do not like to sit around for hours at the restaurant. The only thing hanging back from this place is that the service is just so unbelievably slow. After a couple chances, I have given up because I just do not have the time in my life to go there anymore.

It’s good but they don’t let you use the Unilocal coupon even though it is active still. Kind of shitty. The food is good though!

Food is great and cheap but the waiters are awful, they take like 10÷15÷20 minutes to get your food or even drink. They also didn’t get me ikura like I asked and gave me unagi instead of anago, they also don’t ask you what you want to drink unless you tell them. A waitress literally interrupted us when we were ordering, went away for 3 minutes, came back to refill my water, and then left again. One time I went and these people got served even though we got in before they did. I don’t know if it’s just me and my family or if everyone has this problem

Eh. Sushi rolls are very small compared to what they should be. Udon was just ok. It was a little bit on the bland side for me. To be honest, my mom can make better homemade udon :/ We got the tofu appetizer which was pretty good. It’s a simple dish that I’d recommend for tofu lovers :) oh and there’s a topping that sits on top and it looks like it’s moving and alive but it’s not lol Everything was 50% off which depends on what you get, is pretty decent. Without the discount this place would be considered expensive. 26 $ for a bento box?! That’s a little ridiculous. Overall, 5 people for lunch the bill came to about 50 $ after the discount. This place doesn’t wow me enough to get me to come back though.

This was the first time that me and my husband have ever been to this restaurant. It was completely fantastic! This wonderful establishment had some of the best sushi I’ve ever had! It’s even in the same category as some of the sushi from Chicago. Very authentic and fresh sushi. We had the spicy tuna roll, the beautiful Alaska roll, the Chicago role, the shrimp tempura, and the sunomono. And the octopus was very well cooked. The customer service was exceptional and I do recommend this to anyone who is a sushi lover like us, and recommend it to anyone who is visiting the Bloomington area.

I’ve been enjoying their huge selection of veggie sushi since the Sushi Bar opened. My favorites are the veggie roll(kampyo, oshinko, pickles best, avocado, etc), the avocado tempura roll and the inari roll. They’ve also got a fantastic udon soup. Super cheap for a large, delicious serving. I’ve heard mixed reviews from friends on their regular sushi. I can’t personally speak to it. All I know is, if you’ve got a vegetarian in your midst, Sushi Bar is the place to go. The service is inconsistent but it always at least cordial.

Sushi is ok, but not very impressive, I heard they have cheap Unaju, will try them someday, and they frequently host parties there, the environment of this restaurant is very elegant and decent^^

Called in a carryout order and was told the wait time would be 15 minutes. Arrived less than 10 minutes later to find my order already wrapped up and ready to go! The Chirashi was great, and I love that it included soup and an amazing salad.

Not good, but thanks to Asuka not the worst I’ve ever had either. Sushi isn’t good, but its a landlocked region and isn’t bad compared to the other places you can get in Indiana. Sushi bar charges standard sushi prices for much below average food. Best part about it is the KTV rooms it offers and decent effort put presentation with some dishes, but that’s not always consistent and hardly makes it taste better. Unagi is the only thing decent here. Everything else is objectively very bad. I’d advise not going in the afternoon, maybe the normal chef wasn’t there but I got probably the one of my top 10 worst-prepared rolls and sashimi I’ve had. The sushi I got in the evening and regular dinner hours was much better.

I got the sushi special # 3 and a statue of liberty. This was a 4.9 experience. I dread not giving this a 5! When i first came in and sat at the bar the chef was on the phone. This was off putting. When my order came in he looked at me and said«all for you?!» Lol. I ordered alot! The sashimi was wonderful! Fresh and the texture just right. Ive had nicer cut sushi but the taste was their. The roll was spicy with nice fresh crad and avacado. Wonderful! I had the cabernet saivignon with my sushi and it was light and satisfying but nothing to really brag on. Next time ill go white. Great place

As someone who always loves authentic Japanese food this restaurant is intolerable. Two stars for indoor decorations and service, nothing more.

This is the best sushi in Bloomington. We enjoyed the seaweed salad, shumai, cucumber roll, spicy tuna, and unagi avocado. Every time I’ve been here, the food quality has been consistent. Service was efficient and courteous. The music was a little off — I don’t expect to hear a lot of Run DMC over dinner — and the restaurant is a little dark inside.

I agree, the sushi was fine. However, seeing that the two young chefs were preparing while wearing their street clothes(jacket and sweat shirt) makes me uneasy about their overall sanitary conditions.

Open until 2:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. As of May 2013, you can’t turn left into the parking lot if you’re on 10th heading west(from 46). You have to drive a ways, make a u-turn, and come back heading east on 10th. So good luck.(Hoping I can get there from 46 by going behind the costume store, but haven’t tried yet.) Have eaten here and gotten to go several times; sushi has been fine and reasonably portioned.

Whoa! Whole new level of terrible. My original review was going to be tame, but that was before I got to Marsh to get milk for desert and realized that I left my debit card at this place! As soon as I realized it wasn’t in my possession, I called the restaurant to ask if they had found it. The host, whose name was supposedly Alex, asked where I was seated, and he immediately replied that he had checked, and that it wasn’t there. My obvious question was, simply, how did you check? You were on your tethered phone, «Alex». After I pegged this question, he told me that he did check, utilizing a particular expletive beginning with an F, which we won’t use here, because we aren’t COMPLETELY unprofessional. He then ended our conversation before I knew we were finished. Assuming the line was dead, my friends and I drove back to the restaurant, greeted by an immediately aggressive host, who continued to insist that he had checked for my card. The girl who had served us when he did not, asked if she could help. Anything being an improvement, I told her I may have left my card. She said, let me check, and then she actually must have because she came back with my card! Voila! Even the chef looked at Alex like, WT actual F?, after we found it. After we found the card, Alex continued to use hostile language with us, and insist that he had checked, which certainly wasn’t the issue anymore as much as his profanity. Needless to say, they did nothing to try to make up for our service, but at least my card was recovered. I recorded the whole scene when we went back to the restaurant on my iPhone’s voice memos, and would attach it… actually, I may throw this up on SoundCloud real quick and put up a link. One sec. Here’s the link: I’ll post my original review that just talks about how bad their sushi is below: Don’t subject yourself to this terrible service, terrible atmosphere, and terrible sushi, unless you’re into that. Brought my hot tea out ice cold, had to approach the waiter every time we wanted to tell him something, we were scolded for asking about the poorly advertised karaōke machine, and it took them forty minutes to bring out four rolls, which were terrible. We only came here because Ami’s was too busy. Ami’s has bigger rolls, cheaper prices, better servers, fresher fish, nicer atmosphere… But idc how long their line is, I’m never coming back here!
