I love it! As a person who tried sushi in Japan, I can’t say that the sushi in B town is not good. It’s hard to get fresh sushi here, so I like it! and it’s all you can eat! Waiters are great and fast! I’m happy that B town has this restaurant! but I hope they have more types of sashimi!

Been there 4 times now, have learned how to order to have things arrive close together, all the food is great, great service.

I didn’t know what to expect when I walked in. We all have been to an all you can eat buffet type of restaurant. This was different from the moment I sat down with the ordering on the IPad. I was given the caveat from my friend do not order more than you can eat or you will be charged. We ordered several items most of which came where you could share with the table. The soup and roll items were large portions. I would only order one of each of those items so that you can share. I think this is a great place to go if you want to step outside the box and try something new without needing to pay for each separate thing. We will be going again for sure. Clean, kind, quick service.

Myself and various dining companions have eaten here a total of six times now, mostly for dinner, but twice for lunch, and I can safely say this is the best sushi value in terms of quality/price I have found, not only here in Bloomington, but also in other sushi restaurants I have tried in SF Bay Area(Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, San Jose, and Milpitas). Also, I have lived a total of 7 years in Japan and the quality here compares to a good mid-level sushi restaurant in Tokyo(where I worked) or Funabashi(where I lived). In addition to the wide selection of sushi items(nigiri, rolls, and hand rolls), they offer several nice dim-sum items, including one of my favorites, «shrimp-leek dumpling» and one of my favorite fish dishes, «grilled mackerel». The iPad app for ordering is amazing and ensures both accuracy and timely delivery of the many dishes to the table. There might be an occasional glitch, but the staff was always quick to rectify the situation. The lighting is great so I am not sure what another reviewer was complaining about. The ice cream deserts are not only offered in red bean and green tea, but also in mango and vanilla. The lunch pricing is a bit lower than the dinner pricing, and leaves out a few of the pricier items. Also, there is a nice senior discount for both lunch and dinner. I give this establishment the highest rating for dining pleasure.

I don’t know why Kiku sushi got only 3 stars here. I think they deserve 4 at least. Clean, neat, and chic place. Food was better than I expected. I believe it’s hard to find perfect sushi place around Bloomington, but this place moderately satisfied me since I could get variety of food at one place as buffet. One of the great features they got here is that you can order by tapping pictures of food on the table with your provided tablet. But sometimes, you may get your desert faster than appetizers. I got my ice cream first before my miso soup. Miso soup takes too long time ! Servers were okay. But somehow They look exhausted most of the time. Well, overall I liked this place and will go again for sushis and some Asian cuisine.

Not sure why everyone is super negative about this place! I really liked it. Food came quickly and everything we ordered was delicious. Waitresses were really nice and friendly. I will def. be back again! Thanks guys for a great experience!

This place isn’t completely terrible. They have you order off of an iPad that sends the orders to the kitchen without need for the waitress every time. That also lets you look over the menu visually which is cool. The sushi didn’t make me sick, but. The nigiri salmon is on a ball of rice too big to fit in my mouth with the salmon sliced so thin some of them there broken. They’re clearly cutting corners and ripping you off, and that’s sad to be able to tell so obviously. Also, the rice is sweeter than I prefer, which I’ve never noticed anywhere else. I am from California and love sushi, so perhaps I have a higher standard. I’ve been twice now, to give it a chance since I miss good sushi so much. But this isn’t worth it to me. It was fun in a group, the first time I came.

For my first visit to Kiku, I came for lunch with my wife. She doesn’t eat sushi so she had the chicken teriyaki bento box it was a lot of food and reasonably priced at $ 8.99. Chicken, rice, 3pieces of tempura, two dumplings and 3pc California roll. And soup and salad… which they didn’t bring, but by the time we realized it she was too full to eat any more food. Quality was 6⁄10: nicely presented, not quite hot and the taste was what you would expect of a mid grade chain restaurant. I had the app you can eat sushi. It was good… for the price. I ordered 3 large specialty rolls and dumplings and paid $ 13.99. Quality was slightly above grocery store grade I would say… but I would have paid more for said rolls at Kroger, so I was okay with it. The best of the rolls was the Rock and Roll. The dynamite and Indiana rolls were somewhat bland and tasted and looked nearly identical minus the fish/sauce on top of the rolls. I would also agree that service was limited. You order. They bring the food. They are gone. However, if you get up to ask for something they are very nice and bring it right away. Overall…I would try it again for lunch with quick lunch time expectations. I would also likely try some other rolls or other menu options(ramen, dim sum, etc). I would recommend always getting the all you can eat because the menu is so extensive and includes enough non sushi entrees that even my «I gag on nori» wife would have plenty of options. :)

So we were finally charged extra for not eating everything BUT it’s because we well deserved it. We had about 4 rolls that we hardly touched so I was willing to pay for our mistake of over ordering. However, the charge was not bad at all! They only charged us about $ 7 for all the rolls and they let us take them home. Now that I know how much they charge and that they let you take the leftovers home, paying extra isn’t much of a bother.

Kiku looks nice on the outside, but it’s some of the blandest, most boring sushi I’ve ever had. Expensive for what you get too. Go to the place on 3rd street, next to Turkuaz Café, instead — they’re much much better than Kiku.

This place is a novelty! Technology is used to order your food in this futuristic spot similar to what we read about in the news about restaurants in Tokyo. We went for the All You Can Eat deal, which is $ 22 during the weekdays, and you stop and say, «Wait. That’s actually a lot.» Well, not necessarily. It’s All You Can Eat THEENTIREMENU! Unlimited soups, salads, specialty rolls, and even Pad Thai and beef with broccoli. That’s a better deal. Everything is ordered through the iPad and the longest something took to be served was maybe 10 minutes. Although all the food was not necessarily the most amazing I’ve ever had, the experience was a lot of fun. I loved ordering on the iPad and having all the food delivered right away was very majestic. Side tip: the pictures of the food is what it actually looks like, but you may not get the same amount. Some yes, some more(we got 3 spring rolls instead of the 2), and some less(tiny dish for a doll of seaweed salad instead of the classic size in the Miso Soup bowl).

Make sure you get the correct change back because we didn’t. Our meal was $ 36.40 and we paid with a $ 50 bill. Our server tried to give us $ 12.57 in change(we should have received $ 13.60) and was reluctant to give us the receipt. The sushi was good but the rest of our order was slow to come out. We finished our sushi and waited another 25 minutes for the rest of our meal. Our server apologized and promised a discount to make up for the wait. Turns out the discount was only 5%. I doubt we’ll be coming back.

Terrible service. From the host at the door who turned and barked at the server«who’s turn is it?» to the server who, when we said it was our first time there, instead of explaining anything said«Oh, I think this is someone else’s table» and walked away! Hadn’t realized Mikado had gone, so was excited about the grand opening sign. No specials for the grand opening though. The place tries hard to look«chic» as another reviewer called it, but only college students might think so. It is tacky compared to the really nice restaurants in town, and the atmosphere, while clean, is sterile. More like a hotel lobby. The only sushi that I’ve had in Btown that was worse than Kiku was at a grocery store. So, do yourself a favor and go up the road to any other sushi spot in town. Super mediocre food, and terrible service. Don’t take my word for it, give it a go and see for yourself. Maybe they were just having a terrible night, but that is not the feeling I got. It was slow in there, but the servers seemed upset with each other. The food came out quickly, but I’d wished they’d taken more time with it. I should have known when we walked in and the chefs didn’t acknowledge us that this was a place to skip. Oh, and NOWASABI!!!

If you want rolls filled with rice, this is your place. BORING, EXPENSIVE, and the environment is uninspired. Kiku is to sushi what Kraft is to mac & cheese. Don’t fail prey to «all you can eat» because you won’t want to eat much. Dumplings were flavorless. Even the miso soup was blah.

Food was delicious. Best place to get your money’s worth, $ 22 per person. Everything we ordered was great and was decent sized for two.

Very nice Asian fusion buffet in Bloomington. They serve dimsum and sushi. Pretty good taste. Well the dimsum may not as authentic as the ones you have in Canton, China but good enough to have them in Bloomington. Sushi is very very very fresh!

Ate here last night … And let me start off by saying: LADIES!!! If you are going on a first date… Or date of any kind here, the lighting is horrible. Fluorescent hospital light type of horrible. So beware lol Won’t be a good look But the environment … Nice, clean, very chic. So much potential … But that lighting … Yeesh! Sushi was mediocre, service … Pretty non existent. Price … It’s prob best to do the«all you can eat» deal… The price of the 3 rolls Me and a friend ordered, came out to be more the the«all you can eat» price. LESSONLEARNED* I guess with it being a new place, it obviously is still working out the kinks… Will give it another shot and update next time… But as of now … I’m pretty bummed this place took over Mikados.

This place looked promising because they put so much money in renovation. However, I would say the quality is a ¼ step above Kroger sushi. The staff is slow and totally uneducated. I asked for ponzu sauce and they looked at me like I had four heads. Price is right and that’s about it.

Well, I really wanted to like this place. It sounded awesome, you get to order off a tablet, so high tech… sigh. First, as of right now, you can only place the order on the tablet if you’re getting their all-you-can-eat option so ordering individual foods is a pain in the ass since you are all trying to share one tablet and trying to remember everything. We ordered spicy tuna rolls and were brought just tuna rolls, didn’t even get wasabi but whatever, so we sent it back after trying one just to make sure the spicy wasn’t just somewhere hidden inside… not at all. We could hear the sushi chef arguing that it was inside and sent her back with a dipping bowl of the spicy sauce on the side. The miso soup was basically cloudy water, no flavor at all. We shared the beef Pad Thai… This is where it just got weird, it tasted like shitty Spaghetti O’s, how do you even do that? We couldn’t even eat half of it. Server refilled the husband’s drink once after it had been sitting empty most of the«meal», she only had one other table, it was not busy at all. I understand they’ve not been open for very long but come on, how do you fuck up everything we ordered? Not even one of the things came out right ugh.
