Freeway Ford

I had great service from the sales person who sold me my Flex. My issue is with the «service» department.
I made an appointment on-​line for my first oil change. I showed up and was told you don’t make an appointment for an oil change, you go to the Quick Lane place. This was not told to me in a kind way, more that I was an annoyance for not knowing what to do. It would have been nice to get a call or message about that when I made the on-​line appointment. The women behind the counter at Quick Lane laughed at me for not knowing how the Quick Lube system worked. I received an email asking about my experience and I responded that is was bad. The service manager called me and proceeded to blame the sales person for not telling me how the «service» department works, he was not nice to me. The sales person may have told me but I may have forgotten, so next time I buy a car I will take notes about the service department so I will remember what to do. I had the car before this and it was serviced at a Walser dealership what was always a good experience, so I was taken aback by the lack of customer service. I felt like I had gone back to the 1970s where car people ignored customers.
I tried the Quick Lane for the next oil change. I showed up about 15 mins after they opened and was ignored.
So now I get my oil changes at Valvoline Rapid Oil. Those guys are nice and professional.
Last week the plastic cover under my Flex came off on one side and was dragging on the ground. I call Freeway Ford for help at around 5:30pm on a week day and was told all the technicians had gone home and no one would help me. I called Apple Ford who was happy to help me. Even though they had a steady stream of cars coming in for service that night, my car was fixed in under an hour. They were nice and professional to me.

In October the service department did work on our car. I was concerned that it was not done correctly due to some difficulties the car was having. I contacted Freeway Ford. Pat, the service manager, got back to us within 24 hours. He personally took care of our car and it turned out that there was a crack in the battery– which is team may or may not of missed in October. They had me in and out in an hour and a half on a busy Saturday with a new battery and an oil change.

This relates to Quicklane service only — they do not take reservations and claim customers can just show up for service however I was just turned away for the second time in less than a year due to short staff/​backlog. Both times were 2+ hours before closing time. Staffing could only accommodate a couple customers.

They sold me the wrong van. 147″ wheel base instead of 130″. They won’t get me the van that suites me. Not ideal and very difficult to park in Minneapolis, where I live and work. Doesn’t fit my driveway, but it’s mine now.

I was all set to buy a car from here but they wouldn’t fix an issue that was found during the inspection (actually, the mechanics couldn’t even find the issue). I decided to buy a car from a different dealership (without even seeing it) that had no issues.

I would like to start out by day Andy the service write is great but for this dealership be careful they will rip you off because the mechanics are inadequate and can not finish a job right and I had this is the second time they did a job half done when I had a oil change here the mechanics or so called mechanics miss a light out and this time it took them over 5 weeks to do a transmission job Please beware if you have to go to this dealership

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! Like many of the other reviews out there… if there was a 0 stars option I would have chose that. I felt pressured to buy. I waited around for longer than I actually was working with people. I felt like they didn’t care what I wanted or needed they just wanted to make a sale. The sales woman used cheesey lines like «if you were my sister I’d tell you to buy this car.» And on the phone with someone she stated, «I’m sorry I’m at the dealership with my friend right now.» Explaining when she got off the phone that she doesn’t like to consider me as a customer because it’s so much more than that.
The manager was fake and said they were going to do everything to help me. They ended up offering me a 11.9% apr when I was already pre-​approved for a 3.2% through Wells Fargo. They almost insisted that I run my credit and go through finaces with them because they can beat anyone. I got offered a payment $ 100 over the amount that I told them was my max.
After spending time with absolutely rude people, who didn’t listen to a word I said, and made me feel like I didn’t matter or wasn’t an important sale. I ended up walking out.
I purchased a wonderful vehicle from Auto Nation in White Bear. They were absolutely wonderful and bent over backwards for me. They beat my 3.2% interest rate and got me a payment under my max amount. I recommend checking them out if you are looking for a great honest place to go.

I own a 2012 Ford Focus, which is one of a few models that’s been reported to have significant transmission problems. I received a letter from Ford (Corporate) that extended the warranty on my vehicle and offered transmission repairs by ANY Ford dealer free of charge. When I brought my vehicle in to Freeway Ford, someone took it on a two-​minute test drive around the parking lot and claimed that my vehicle was not eligible for the repairs and they denied me service. I was persistent — I showed them the letter and begged them to take it on a longer test drive, but they refused me service!
Less than a week later, I received a postcard from AutoNation Ford in White Bear Lake, offering the free repairs in addition to a free loaner car. I believed it was too good to be true based on my experience with Freeway Ford, but I just picked up my car and I couldn’t be more impressed with AutoNation Ford. They fixed my car, provided a free loaner, and gave my car a full maintenance check, car wash, and wax for FREE! Their customer service was unbeatable. I DO NOT RECOMMEND FREEWAY FORD FOR ANY REASON. The extra few miles to AutoNation Ford in White Bear Lake is worth it, TRUST ME.

I had a warranty issue and haven’t recently moved to the Twin Cities went to Freeway for the first time. They took care of the two recall issues as well as two small repairs quickly and reasonably. I am happy to have a resource locally that seems trustworthy and down to earth.

**I have added a star because I received a response ** So I walked around the lot for at least 10 minutes waiting for anyone to come out and help me. I gave up on that method and proceeded to find the car I wanted to test drive and lo and behold, the driver side door was unlocked so I opened it as to inspect the interior. Surely, someone will come out now — I am sitting in one of their cars! I’m either interested in it or I am stealing it so someone has to come out. I can see them in their 1950s glass office building jabbering away — the one that I parked right in front of when I pulled into the lot. It was at least another 10 minutes of sitting in the car, getting out for another walk-​around, sitting in the back to check leg room and still no assistance… so let me tell you about the luxury sedan I bought from Luther Bloomington Hyundai, worked with Paul… I could still be sitting there in that car at Freeway Ford waiting for someone to come out

I am going to keep this short because I have so many bad things to say, that I don’t know where to start.
Do not go to Freeway Ford. They lied to my boyfriend and I about a Ford Focus that we found, and proceeded to try to convince us that we had it all wrong.
Rick (Sales Manager) was really good at telling me how the car they shipped up from another state was the car that I agreed upon buying a few days prior. Meanwhile, as I was leaving the dealership after I broke off the deal, I stopped the salesman whom I had been working with to tell him that they were no longer going to have my business. He tried to talk to Rick to make a deal, but the lack of communication between them just got worse and worse.
Long story short, they lied and tried to steal from us. I hope you all take these negative reviews (not only from myself, but from others) on Freeway Ford very seriously and do not do business with them.

First of all, I can’t give a «0» star rating, or I would.
My girlfriend and I came to Freeway Ford because we found a new Focus that was competitively priced online. Before coming in we found a car that was almost identical at another dealership except the other car had a sunroof and cost $ 300 more. The logical thing for them to do would be to reduce the price of the car on their lot by the cost of the sunroof (about $ 900), right? Wrong. As we were getting up to leave they assured us that they could get THE SAME car with all the same options delivered for a lower price. We thought it was a great deal so we agreed.
When we came back a few days later to pick up the car we noticed that it was missing the winter package which included remote start. We didn’t think it was a big deal and that they would just install it for us.
As it turns out, Rick, the sales manager would rather try to convince us that we had made no such deal by condescendingly saying «you tell me how you remember our conversation, and then I’ll tell you how I remember it.»
Here’s the deal Rick: you tried selling us a car that we didn’t agree to buy. Thanks for making this a horrible experience for the both of us! And hopefully the other couple looking at cars in the lot heard how unhappy we were and ran for the hills.

Freeway Ford is a dealer you can trust.
From a car service standpoint, Freeway Ford has changed my mind about bringing a car to a dealer for repairs other than warranty. They are fair priced and they get the job done right. Communication has been excellent.
As a car seller, they are good people but you have to come armed with information on price. They are still a car dealer and they are still trying to sell cars at the highest price. I have found that if I come in knowing what I want and what a fair price is, they are usually quick to agree and get me the car I want.
To be honest, I but cars from here because the service department is so great. The sales is fine, but it is like most car dealers, but the service department makes me smile.

I called them in the afternoon at 1pm to inquire about a car loan for one of their used cars. They got back to me within an hour. He got my information and I waited a day. I called back the next morning, the guy said he would talk to another person and get back to me, at the latest, tomorrow. I never heard back from him. It was a waste of time and the lack of communication alone is something that no one should have to put up with, especially if you are going to do business with them! Stay away– this will turn into a long term hassle.

I have bought 3 cars here and plan to buy a 4^th car soon. Brian Peterson was our salesperson and he was great. He is a real «car guy» and is very knowledgeable about the different cars. He was not high pressure and even suggested ways for us to save money on the options. He was easy to communicate with through email. I have complete confidence in him and will always buy my cars there.

If you’re good with high pressure situations and feel like you can win a negotiation, this might be a good spot for you. Not for me though.

Had my car serviced here. They were quick and not too expensive.

I test drove a vehicle on Nov 17^th, and liked everything about the car, except noticed the «check engine» light was on. The salesman said it would be resolved if I purchased the car, but then told me that since they did not know how much the repair would cost, I should pay a higher price for the car. He offered me a lower price –with the check engine light on, or a higher price with it off! I was floored!
He finally agreed to the lower price with the engine light issue resolved, but could not give me a straight answer about what the problem was when we came to pick the car up. He thought it was the oxygen sensor… Less than 70 miles later (2 days of driving), the engine starts sputtering so badly we were unable to make it home, and my trustworthy mechanic says that there is a serious issue with the ignition coils, and it will cost $ 1300 to repair. I called the Freeway Ford Used Car Sales Manager, and asked what he would be able to do to help make the issue right for us. He told me that he’s sorry this happened, but his mechanics could not possibly have mis-​diagnosed the problem, and that this «underlying issue» must have developed after I drove the car off the lot! He went on to say that he understands why I’m upset, but under state law he has no obligation to do anything. (Since our used car was over 100K it isn’t protected by MN 30 day used car lemon law) Sounds to me like he has heard from disappointed customers before & is perfectly okay doing nothing to resolve the issues.
I sincerely hope the $ 1000 they’re saving by treating us poorly is lost 100x over by customers AVOIDING THIS DEALER LIKE THE PLAGUE. They are your worst nightmare, slick, weasel-​y used sales car types, have proven to be dishonest & they don’t care about keeping or satisfying their customers AT ALL.
