Ok so I noticed some confusion over the new«Hartzell’s» and the old«Hartzell’s Jiffy Treet on Kirkwood» In short… Hartzell’s Jiffy Treet is no more, it’s now just simply«HARTZELL’s»(Same owner, as you can probably tell by the name) I’ve added the new«Hartzell’s» which is now just around the corner on 107 N. Dunn, the new business should be posted in 48hrs. I’m an old customer and friend that has since moved away, I was there last January, love the new store, larger and still offers the same feeling… and smell of fresh hand made waffle cones! With the new location and new name, I think they’re offering more products then ever before. Well I’ve posted more details at the other(corrected and updated) business… Thanks!

Is this, for serious, a Jiffy Treat? All the signage said Hartzell’s…so confused. Oh well, here goes… This is what I’m talking about! A stroll past the square after dinner at the Irish Lion pays off! Before selecting my cup of delicious, I sampled the Chocolate with Basil and Ceremonial Green Tea. I should have tried more, but alas, I was full from dinner and really only«forced» myself to eat any after tasting how good it was. I stuck with the chocolate and my husband the green tea. We were both happy with the flavor — definitely some fun picks beyond the usual chocolate and rocky road. Pop a squat on the curb out front on a nice evening, and you’re in heaven.

Oh Jiffy Treat! You remind me of the good times at Indiana University. This is a must stop visit every time we go back down to Bloomington for game. There is nothing on this earth that makes your stomach feel better after an IU Men’s basketball loss like Jiffy Treat.

It was a great location for ice cream, unfortunately it is now(7⁄2008) a new apartment building with Amero-Asian Fast Food chain Panda express. There are two other Jiffy Treets in Bloomington, but this one was Hartzell Martel’s from the 1990’s. (Update 2010) Hartzell is now located around the corner by Starbucks in his own ice cream shop! (Update 2012) Hartzell is now located around the corner from his original location past Greetings and it is called Hartzell’s Ice Cream!

I can’t believe there have been no reviews on this place in almost 2 years. Jiffy Treet is truly a gem in this town. They have over 20 flavors of homemade ice cream(wait read that again – 20HOMEMADE flavors), 1 – 2 flavors of custard(why only 2?!), and 3 – 4 flavors of soft serve and nonfat yogurt(vanilla, chocolate, twist… yawn). The service is quick, helpful, and very friendly. I make my own ice cream too, so I have high standards for ice cream. I usually judge an ice cream store by their vanilla flavor, and for Jiffy Treet, their homemade vanilla was VERY good. Not quite Oberweis good, but this small town establishment holds up very well to its competitors. My friends had the soft serve sundaes. It’s OK. But order the homemade ice cream. We’re going back tomorrow to sample more of the flavors. It’s so cheap! Come and support this local business.
