Pita Pit

I have never been to a Pita Pit before, and thanks to this location on Kirkwood, I will never step foot in one again.
The pita fell apart in my hands, was full of some kind of mystery meat they claim to be chicken, and was honestly the worst thing I have ever tried to eat.
Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this place.

I received a birthday coupon from the HT for a free pita, so I decided to check this place out. The guy who was working the counter was very friendly and made recommendations on the menu. If you are a vegetarian, you will find plenty of options — I believe there were about 8 different vegetarian pita fillings listed. You pick your main filling item, they cook it up, and then you select which toppings you want added to it. I went with the black bean burger for my filling. The pita was quite large and a meal to itself. Pricing was fair.

Stopped into the Pita Pit for the first time thanks to a birthday coupon from the HT. I geared myself up for what appears to be the standard for anyone with a free coupon in chain establishments: apathy, confusion and resentment. None were on tap at the Pita Pit. Instead, the woman behind the counter (possibly an owner, I’m not sure) was extremely chipper and helpful. When she learned I’d never been there before, she gave many useful suggestions. My expectations weren’t set high (especially for a chain with «Pit» in its title), but the sandwich was pretty damned good and the service was very friendly. I was also happy to note they serve real-​fruit smoothies as well. I will definitely stop by the next time I’m craving a quick made-​to-​order sandwich, even if I have to pay for it. It may be a little pricer than, say, Subway, but the ingredients are far more diverse and fresh. A good lunch spot, to be sure.

The pitas here are good. The price is okay for what you get and it’s very filling. The delivery area for this place is really small. They won’t deliver to the west side of town and parking near here is hard to find. A good place to drop by though if you’re looking for something fast. The best way to describe this place is Chipotle with pitas instead of burritos!
