When’s the last time I had a good soft pretzel? I dunno. Ballpark, 1987? Even then, that pretzel was probably handed to me by a vendor who hadn’t washed his hands after he shook his winky after peeing. Could have tasted like cardboard soaked in ocean water and had the consistency of baby toenails. I did not go into the actual store. My friend did. When she returned to the car with a paper bag full of softies and dropped it on my crotch, there was no doubt they were hizzot. Upon returning home, we dove right in. Still steamy hot, they were soft, salty and made me moonwalk across the kitchen. You ask me if they are good? Does Ron Jeremy have a bent heat-seeking moisture missile? Fuck yeah, AMERICA! Do they make me talk black? Deez pretzels off da’ chain my nizzle! NAMEAN?! Soft pretzels. Get you some.

I went in to buy some of the«minis» to take to work. Occasionally I will stop to buy pretzels on the way to work. There is very little stock to choose from even though I can see someone making large pretzels in the back. I asked if they had any others(there were 3 rows of 5) because they were dark. I was told no so I had to take what they had. I got them to work and they were hard. They were still warm from sitting under the lights there but hard and not enjoyable at all. Co workers were putting them in the microwave to soften them. Very disapoointed in the quality after reading this on the Original website: We pledge to only serve fresh pretzels that meet — or exceed — our Philly Pretzel Factory standards. We pledge to make your visit enjoyable, convenient and affordable in every way, serving you REALPRETZELS that make a difference. I was born and raised in Philly and Philly pretzels don’t taste like that unless that guy has been standing on a corner all day!

Okay, as much as I love the pretzels here, this IS a chain and the quality is the same as that at any other pretzel factory. I do like this chain’s pretzels the best, though, and this branch is right across the street from home. The shell is very flavorful and the interior is not overly doughy. The amount of salt is also just right. Some branches tend to sprinkle too much salt on. The only downside about this location compared to the Street road franchise in Bensalem is that they don’t take Amex or offer any specials(no 35 pretzels for $ 10 deal here). I went this morning at 6:45 am to pick up 50 pretzels($ 18), and literally wiped them clean of their stock for the morning. Guess they need to work on their inventory management. The cashier was nice, though, and kindly offered to help me bring the pretzels to my car. If you need pretzels for a group, I would recommend calling and ordering ahead of time.
