I have lived in Blue Island since 2002 and I have always passed up this place. My normal spot was See Thru up the street then later Mr. Orange Chicken but lately both of those places are no longer good(to me). Anywho, I decided to try Mr. Chop Suey because my taste for Chinese food was super strong and must I say Mr. Chop Suey did not disappoint me. I ordered the Mongolian Beef for myself and the Sweet and Sour Chicken for my daughter and both were beyond amazing… even the egg rolls were delish. They give you large portions that are hot and full of flavor! This will most definitely be my new spot and the only regret I have is not giving them a try sooner.

Traditional«American» Chinese food for pick up or delivery. There is no sit-down dining available. The food is good, fresh, hot, made-to-order and generally uses good ingredients(caveat: they use pink tomatoes rather than ripe red ones, but this is standard for most take-out Chinese food). Broccoli, bean sprouts, and pea pods are always fresh. They do not overcook their veggies – which I appreciate! Some may find them too raw/crunchy, but I love that about their food. Standards such as fried rice, egg rolls, beef with cashews, and chicken with broccoli are great. Family favs for us include their outstanding pot sticker dumplings(which come with a very delicious, traditional vinegar-based dipping sauce), General Tso’s chicken, and a delicious Mongolian beef served with green onions as well as other aromatics. They also have other ersatz Chinese dishes such as Sweet and Sour Pork, Orange Chicken, and crab rangoon. I think the only disappointing thing on the menu has been the soups. I don’t know why, but they are awful. We love hot and sour, egg drop and wonton soup from other restaurants, but none of them are even edible from here. Don’t judge the food by the waiting area! My favorite Chinese restaurant is in San Francisco. They have *outstanding* food, but trust me, you don’t want to judge it based on the cleanliness of the restaurant. Mr. Chop Suey is comparable. They don’t waste time and/or energy on the ambience. They just crank out really good, tasty food in a timely fashion. For a reasonable price, I might add. They take credit cards, but there is a $ 10 minimum. They also deliver, but it will take significantly longer to get your food. Be sure to ask for chop sticks if you want them; they don’t come standard. However, they give you enough sauce packets to sink a battleship.

Good chinese food. Only thing bad is how the place looks. Makes you think their food is nasty. Other than that its ok.

My family and I love Mr. Chop Suey. We eat here at least once a week. They are always fast in making our order and the food is always fresh and hot. My go to is the Hunan Shrimp, I’ve never liked chicken fried rice at any other Chinese restaurant, but love it here.

Yes for Chinese food in this area this is the best you’re ever going to find. so far everything that I order from them has been absolutely great. I have tried all the time these places around Alsip and this one does do Chinese the way everybody would like it.

My parents have gone there for over 20 years and now my sister and I carry on the tradition whenever we go to Blue Island. Best Chinese food EVER. Their food is full of flavor! I could eat their beef fried rice for days. They even gave us free chicken wings with our order!!!

Whenever we go visit my parents in BI, my mom cooks for us like there is no tomorrow. For once, we let her take a break from cooking. My dad was craving some Chinese food so we headed over to Mr. Chop Suey for some take-out. Atmosphere I looked online for a menu and nothing. You need to physically go to this place to see what is on the menu(no menus to-go either, bummer). This place has probably seen better days — it is not somewhere where you’d want to dine in as you’re looking out to a parking lot, the tables/chairs are not very clean or comfortable and there was no A/C despite it being really hot outside. Given that there were several people waiting for carry out orders, this seems to be the norm. Food We ordered several items including: shrimp & chicken fried rice, chicken chop suey, orange chicken, crab rangoon & overall they were all very good & the portions were huge. Everything was really hot and we could tell it was made fresh to order. I was also surprised at how neatly packaged everything was and the lack of grease — awesome. I will say though that the orange chicken was not as spicy as advertised(did not taste spicy at all) and it looked a little odd since it was a really bright, almost neon red color. This was probably my least favorite so minus 1 star. Service Our order was ready in 15 minutes and he even threw in some chicken wings for free for placing a large order — awesome!(and I’m glad he did since apparently they were really good — the wings were gone fast!) My one small gripe was that even with probably like 15lbs of food ordered — we only got 2 fortunate cookies(I know, she got real greedy). Overall, we got a ton of decent Chinese food, fast and friendly service for under $ 40. When we’re back in town and looking for Chinese food, we’ll defs hit up this place again(but will probably stay away from the orange chicken) — if only they had menus so we could get delivery!

Hands down, some of the best Chinese food I’ve ever had! It’s cheap, made fresh to order. I’ve had a lot on the menu — egg foo young, chop suey, mongolian beef, fried rice, pot stickers and egg rolls — everything was delicious! Nothing I’ve had is too greasy. Definitely check it out!

Good Chinese food for the Southside. Pretty competitive prices too. A small order of Shrimp Broccoli with White Rice was enough to fill me up for the day. No complaints here. Remember to ask for chop sticks if you order delivery! 10 – 15 minutes does NOT mean 10 – 15 minutes LOL… at least for delivery… Good Seinfeld episode back story…

Love the chop. The $ 3.50 specials are the best. Wish they would have someone answering the phones who spoke better English though
