The food here isn’t so great, it’s ok food dressed up as if it were nice bar food, but it ain’t, and the drones fall for it every time, crap beer, crap service, overrated and overpriced. A sign on the wall says something to the extent of the Sage Café not being fast food or even half fast food… just plain slow food; They don’t lie. Being one of the few people in that joint, I’d expect a little better service, not that it was so bad… The prices weren’t exactly in line with the menu but, the environment was a nice quaint one, and if i was 10 years older and didn’t care so much about flavor, I’d probably consider this spot my go to place… alright portions that make you feel a bit better about the price but, the magnificence just wasn’t quite there. The Sage Café, located in an awkward, perhaps convenient, transitional section of Montauk Highway in Bluepoint, is an overall fine place to dine, just not one that gives a strong reason to frequent. My meal was fine, and I’d go back, I just wouldn’t rush. –Probably the worst onion soup I’ve had… just bland… tough to mess that up I would think; still slow, and lacks any excitement.

Thanks to Unilocal for a great find as usual. I was in the mood for some seafood being in the area and Sage was one of the top choices. While coming here I was going a little too fast I didn’t realize the restaurant is not part of a shopping center and easily missed the entrance as it can bit bit hard to see the front signs. However, its located right at the intersection of Nichols Rd and Montauk Hwy making it quite convenient to get to. Upon entering the restaurant I was quite taken back by the unique decorations, they were quite colorful and quirky and plenty for us to observe while waiting for the food. I think when we visited only one wait staff was working so initially was a bit anxious this might mean a longer wait. But she worked quite efficiently and once took our orders the food came out pretty fast and she did a wonderful job constantly checking upon not just us but all the tables on this side of the restaurant. These are what I’ve tried while here. — Crab Cakes — Its quite unique as they mixed in bit of onions and peppers and other ingredients I couldn’t quite tell. A hint of spiciness with crispy breading too makes this quite an excellent choice and stands out from the usual crab cakes. — Salmon Burger Special — I think they follow the trend with the crab cakes where they actually coat the salmon with breading so it stays together and not fall apart while you’re eating it. The buns were really great too, quite a burger and certainly my favorite part of the meal — Fish and Chips — Very fresh and tender cod fish pieces and not overly greasy, when the food came out it was piping hot definitely can taste quite different when its done right. The fries I thought were bit smaller than what I usually accustom to but its a nice difference. Overall it was a great meal with with a twist on usual American bar food line ups. Although the price is bit higher than what I expected I certainly do think its worth the cost and both portion and quality of the food are quite sufficient.

The To-Go place when you live locally or passing through. Or if your done with everything in Patchogue and want something quaint and not overcrowded. Although they don’t take over the phone orders it’s worth the wait, plus with the Artsy décor everywhere there’s always something new to catch my eye. Staff/Bartender is very courteous and hardworking. Chef is ahhmazing! My favorite is Grilled Chicken over romain with their House Balsalmic but I add Blackened Shrimp to it. Blackened is spicy but yummy. Quesadillas great! Onion Rings Great! Steak Great, Tacos, Burgers amazing, wings delishious. Quaint, charming, fair priced for QUALITY food unlike that bomb SCALs Trattoria across the street. DON’T GOTOSCALS! NOCOMPLAINTSWITHSAGE, WEARELUCKYTOHAVETHEM!

I suppose I could spend some time detailing my experience and coming up with some biting, witty comments but why bother. Just trust me that the food is not only overpriced but it’s inedible. The waitstaff was very pleasant but the food? Oof. You’ll get a far superior meal ¼ mile down the road at Burger King. I almost forgot to mention that the live turtle pond inside offers a nice, musty authentic swamp smell if that’s what you’re into.

Discovered the Sage, thanks toYelp. Once again…, reviews wee spot-on. Décor is a wonderful experience… Indoor fountain with turtles and fish, whimsical décor and more. Waitstaff welcoming and knowledgable. Finally, the food… I had the blackened basso over lentil salad. Delicious! We will put it on our list of places to go to in the Bayport/Blue Point area

Extremely limited menu, that makes no sense. We ordered 3 orders of Mozz. Sticks, rice & beans a maibu and coke and a jack and coke vanilla porter and 2 sodas $ 61. And the mixed drinks were in small 8oz cups. Ordered baked clams, premade and cold. You get better service at McDonald’s.

Love, love, love the atmosphere, friendly staff and juke box. Split a great tomato, mozzarella, roasted red pepper bruschetta app. My entrée was almond encrusted flounder, perfectly fried and garnished with almond slivers, over a mozzarella and multi-vegg chopped salad, with a lemon vinaigrette. SOGOOD!!! Fish was cooked perfectly and veggies were wonderfully fresh. Too full for dessert, but had coffee. Would have been 5 stars, but I struck out trying to order a drink, no sweet whites, no iced teas, lemonade or awesome pear cider that I had there in the past. Even so, love this place.

Even though sage is often packed, the service is always great and the food is always good(and expensive, by the way). I love trivia there on Monday nights!!!

The best bar food I’ve ever had. Consistently great appetizers and entrees with fresh specials you wouldn’t expect. All the staples are here(mussels, wings, quesadillas) with entrees bordering on gourmet! Fabulous pastas, fantastic steaks and gorgeous salads make this hidden gem a local favorite. Atmosphere is always laid back/casual and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Great selection of local beers on tap too.

Had the steak Au Poivere. I have had this item all over New York… I can honestly say this is one of the best(see photo) it was cooked perfectly. Chef Victor is a master of the grill… A must have… The staff is great. Our bartender Julie was fantastic.

Went a few times for the trivia night. The food is expensive and terrible! Every time we went we ordered simple mozzarella sticks or clam chowder to not feel bad taking the tables. We also have ordered wings. The soup is so salty, the mozzarella sticks are not any better than microwave food and cost over $ 9.00. Wings were average but again pricy for the quality. Seems to be full and have a local crowed who finds something they like, or just get drunk. Not a fan, not going back.

So the food here was pretty good but the service sucked. After being seated, our waitress came over and kind of dropped the menu’s saying«Here’s the menu and our specials.» She seemed like she didn’t want to work that day. After we ordered our food, another waitress brought out our food. We NEVER saw our waitress again until after we ate. Our waitress never came to the table to check on anything. She should have because I really needed a drink. When the previous girl put down our food, my glass of soda was nearly empty. So I went without drinking while eating a spicy dish. Then when she did come over(after we were done eating), we asked for the check. I wasn’t about to ask her for another soda… who knows how long I would have had to wait for it. She was at the tables that were RIGHTNEXTTOUS6 times and never brought us our check. We sat there waiting and waiting while she attended to the other tables and not us. We waiting as long as it took us to eat to get our check. She definitely deserved the $ 3.30 tip that we gave her. Because of her attitude and crappy customer service, we won’t be eating here again. It’s too bad too because the food was pretty good but not«OMG you must try it». First impressions are everything!
