This place is definitely better than Taco Bell, yet not as great as Taco Bueno. I don’t come here often enough to know what is the best thing here. I had a chicken burrito with grilled chicken, potato oles, sour cream, cheese and pico. It was good. I also had a side of pintos and an order of chips and queso. If I’m ever in the area, I may stop by again. If you go, you should try the oreo churro!

Before coming to Independence, I had never heard of Taco John’s. I figured it was Mexican or Mexican inspired food frome the name. I wasn’t sure and a friend of mine’s ex-SO came from this area and told me about it. So I decided to try it out. This is a typical type of fast food joint with the type of menu that one would expect in a Mexican inspired fast food establishment. It was renovated and is a nice, and clean establishment that is a nice place to grab something quick. It’s Mexican inspired, and has things on the menu that we don’t have in Mexico, like the Taco Burger. Basically, a Taco Burger is like a hamburger that has loose meat that is seasoned with taco seasoning. Actually, they are pretty good. The soft shell tacos and the ones with the corn tortillas were typical type of tacos but they were good. All the ingredients were fresh, and it all tasted good. I also got an Ez #8 which has a burrito, soft shell taco and small potato olé(which are really tater tots) and nacho cheese on the side for dipping the potatoes in it. All of the food was a lot better than THATOTHERPLACE that is going out of business. Next time I’m in Independence, I’m coming back to eat here again.

Went for lunch at 1:45 Sunday, no one in line but cashier was helping someone whose order wasn’t right. When he came to me to order he said they were short staffed and it would be a while, at least 20 minutes. Are you kidding me??? I left.

Doable, and way better than Taco bell. Their hard taco shells are gluten free, so it said on the 180 gluten free restaurant menus website. I realize they are a chain, but a unique chain, not around everywhere. I like cheap, Mexican food, so it’s a win/win for me. There is a Taco John’s in Lawrence, and I often stop there. It’s great to have this one around. Their meat is nicely spiced. I thought their mild sauce, though, was too hot. I am such a light weight when it comes to hot things. I had 2 regular tacos, and they were good. No bad side effects, and my body didn’t blow up from too much wheat. The tacos were delicious. I will stop in there again.

Stopped in and grabbed some tacos around 9p. My head was in the toilet at 1a. It made me sick! Either poor preparation or old food. Avoid!

Better than Taco Bell! Their stuffed grilled burrito is the best, in addition to their oles and stuffed chicken burrito
