Burger was dry, fries not even close to warm, and the cherry limeade was flavorless. I should have known better when I saw an empty parking lot on a Saturday afternoon. It’s certainly not the same as their other locations quality.

I have been getting Cherry Limades from Winsteads for as far back as I can remember. They are the best and no other place even compares. The Cherry Shakes are the bomb too. The burgers are good, fries and tots ok and the onion rings are crispy and good. I haven’t tried the breakfast but hear it’s great. Will have to come early sometime.

I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich plain, but received a previously frozen chicken patty topped with lettuce, tomatoes and a sauce. The customer receipt said plain next to my order. The waitress noticed it wasn’t plain like I ordered and didn’t offer me a new sandwich. I scraped the condiments off. I was dissatisfied with the taste and quality of the chicken. the waitress didn’t fill my water once. besides the food, the restaurant was very dirty with stains all over the floors and walls– even the ceiling. I was not happy with my experience here and I do not recommend it

They get an extra star for using real ice cream instead of soft serve! The burgers were good and everything was prepared correctly. For a dive, we like it.

Good classic Winsteads. However, every table always has dirt or crumbs on it, the walls have stains on them, and a good portion of the chairs and benches have tears in them. What I’m saying is that I love the food, but clean the place up! Spend a few hours to do a deep clean or hire a service and your place would be 1000% more appealing.

It used to be if you wanted Winstead’s you had to head to the Plaza. Not any more. Hubby and I were in Blue Springs at lunch time the other day and stopped in for burgers, onion rings, a limeade for me and a chocolate malt for him. The double steakburgers with cheese were what we both wanted and they were fresh and hot. In my estimation, the limeades at Winstead’s are the best! It’s all about that little glowing lime-green ball of sherbet plunked into the drink just before it’s delivered to the table… making it the best limeade in Kansas City! Service was friendly and efficient at this location. So why then only three stars? For me, there is something about the Plaza Winstead’s that just makes the food taste a little better. I KNOW it’s irrational but, what can I say? Winstead’s in Blue Springs is good for when you can’t get down to the Plaza…

On an otherwise unremarkable Sunday afternoon in the middle of winter in Missouri, stopping for a shake might not seem like that appealing of an idea. For whatever reason though, I gave in to the temptation and am glad for it. Having never been to a Winstead’s(but knowing well its infamous competitor Steak n’ Shake), the concept was immediately familiar even if the name wasn’t. Basically, this is what I imagine more«original» SNS restaurants, those gleaming ultra-diners done up in black, white and red would have looked like back in the day, were they done up in gentle greens and a pinkish-mauve(is it mauve?). This location features a drive-thru lane, but it might be worth stepping inside if you never have visited one of these places before. While dated, the décor lends a certain authenticity to the place and the semi-open kitchen with its grill man(or lady) flipping burgers is part and parcel for any diner. It’s not fancy, but a nice bit of Americana all the same. The burger was fine and served up quickly to-go in a small white paper sack. On the smaller side, but flavorful and crisp ’round the edge, it’s worth mentioning to anyone who hasn’t had steakburgers before: the sandwich isn’t intended to be thick nor particularly large(that’s why it’s $ 2 and some change). The shake was just as I like them: undrinkable through the included straw at first due to its frosty richness. Note: The closing hour, during the week, is posted on the door as 10p and 11p on Friday and Saturday nights.

I love Winsteads. When we were little we weren’t treated to McDonalds, it was Winsteads! So many fond memories. Ice cream skyscraper eating contests with the cousins, dipping my fries in my frosty… always good times. And as an adult, I still look forward to taking visitors to Winsteads. But not EVERAGAIN to the Blue Springs location!!! It is the worst in the KC/Topeka area! The food is atrocious, doesn’t even taste like the other restaurants and the service is abysmal. I was so embarrassed when I took my visiting in-laws here. I’ve tried it a few times since hoping it’ll improve but it’s always horrid. Stay away and find another Winsteads!

Steakburgers, Crispy Onion Rings, and Old Fashioned Shakes are the specialty at Winstead’s. You can’t help but feel like a kid when your limeade comes with a scoop of sherbert on top. The décor may be dated and the service may be hit or miss, but it’s still cheap, fast, and all part of the experience of this classic diner turned restaurant and drive-thru.
