Bbq was delicious. There an outdoor seating area and an indoor area. Definitely choose to sit indoors because they had a bit of a fly issue outside. But inside they had some amazing pulled pork. Great size portions so come hungry. Sweet tea was good and the staff was military friendly. Best bbq in blufton I’ve tried so far. Small place. But huge on flavor. The pig was perfectly cooked NOTDRY!!! Many bbq joints screw that up.

Amazing BBQ! Wish they had a better selection of BBQ sauces, but other than that amazing place, fast service, fun joint.

We stumbled upon this place while walking through town. It was great! My Kids had the ribs and my husband and I had the pulled pork with the fork. We got two sides with our meal and in the request of the hostess I ordered the sweet potato side. She described as traditional thanksgiving sweet potatoes in the south! If that’s the was the south eats sweet potatoes for Thanksgiving count me in! I’ll be dreaming about those! Kids got the Mac and cheese side and said it was the best they ever had! Great place!

Maybe I hit this place on an off day. The pulled pork was wet and cold — like they’d put a Butt in a crock pot yesterday. No smoke, no flavor. Sour slaw.

We love BBQ and we’ve been wanting to try this place for ages. We were thrilled we were finally were able to stop for dinner. The ribs had a fantastic rub and were fall off the bone delicious. The pork BBQ though wasn’t anything special. They were out of chicken, so we were disappointed we couldn’t give it a taste. Our table tried just about every side between us(no judgment please). Favorites: sweet potato casserole, Brunswick stew, French fries. Only one BBQ sauce– it was a tasty red, with a slight kick, but if that’s not your thing, you’re outta luck– it’s the only one they offer. I’d go back for the ribs if I were in Bluffton, but I wouldn’t make a special trip like we did for dinner here this evening.

I have had a good amount of ribs in my life and the half rack I destroyed at Bluffton was memorable. The surest way I have found to tell if a rack of ribs will be good or not is by gently pulling on one of the rib bones. The easier it separates from the meat, the better the skill of the cook and the better the taste of the meat. With these ribs, the bone came out with no effort. Wooh! The sauce is homemade. The meat comes with just a touch of sauce on it already, which allows the flavor of the meat to be the star of the show, as it should be. I enjoyed dipping my fries in the sauce on the side. The sauce is delicious. I’ll be back for more ribs.

Way too much salt on the Pork and Fork, lost the pork taste even with BBQ sauce. No baked beans, only pinto beans in some weak sauce and salt!!! Get my point? Update … I was sick all afternoon from salt overdose, I am guessing

I take visitor’s there and a few other places in the square area, they enjoy their meal and get a big kick out of the place. If you know people that love pork ribs, then this is the place. I’m not into pork myself, but this is the place to take people the sauce is a red sauce and not vinegar like in some places that you will find around here. Also, their coleslaw is more like what you would find up North. Here in SC they’ll just simply cut up cabbage and place it on your plate with nothing on it and say it’s coleslaw-so this is a surprise. You will also receive a lot of bang for your dollar and no one will leave the place hungry. It’s unique and very casual as far as dining and sitting. I prefer to sit outside. An aside though: Spray yourself with bug spray if you dine out at any restaurant here. Just is the way it is here something is on the ground sand fleas or something-if you are prone like me. Honestly, I don’t know what is biting my ankles at outdoor restaurants here. The staff is friendly and works very hard to keep up with their tasks and everyone’s order. I’m sure that preparation of the ribs takes a long time to fulfill. Worth it !!! :-)

Bottom line: go for the meat, and the meat alone. Went with a small group who ordered either the ribs or the sandwich plates. Ribs were delicious & fall off the bone. Pork sandwich was awesome, which came with pickles and a tomato. The sides could be skipped: Mac&cheese was dry, slaw was vinegar-based with olives and corn(?) but still pretty bland; decent if you put it on your sandwich. The sauce was ketchup-based and a bit on the spicy-side, but just OK. Sweet tea and lemonade were also not very good. Atmosphere is pretty awesome, lots of cool knick-knacks to look at on the wall. Glad we visited, but will probably try another BBQ place next time we’re in town.

This is truly the most authentic traditionally delicious BBQ I’ve ever tasted. The Mac and cheese superb. I will be repeating this local establishment as often as I can !!! Donna and her husband Ted are hardworking and very down to Earth. I felt great energy the first moment I stepped through the doors !!!

We happened upon Bluffton BBQ on our way back from Daufuskie Island. We arrived early and had no problem getting food or a table. It was getting packed when we left. Loved all the décor. The four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We had the quarter chicken, pulled pork sandwiches & a half slab of ribs. For sides we had Mac & cheese, Brunswick stew & sweet potato casserole. All were very good. Portions were plenty. Ted came to our table to see how we liked everything. He was super nice to our kids. We even bought sauce to take home. I will definitely go back if we’re ever in Bluffton.

We love Bluffton BBQ and frequent whenever we are in town visiting(1−2x/yr). We love dining in(fun atmosphere), taking it to go and have even brought BBQ back to Arlington, VA, for a July 4th party. Was such a hit! The pulled pork & ribs are usually what we order. Re: hours — you should call ahead of time if you are going out of your way to visit. If he runs out of food, he closes; if he’s catering, he closes. I don’t blame him — his food is good enough that he can do whatever he wants. :-) However — whenever we have dealt with them — they have been more than accommodating and we never travel in small groups. We usually have 11 – 17 people and take over half of the restaurant. I have been told that if given enough notice, he will smoke a turkey for you if you bring it in. The BBQ sauce is worth buying in cases for future use…

I wish I could give this a better review. We heard SUCH great things about the ribs here. Our story goes like this. We have heard that you need to get there early or call ahead to reserve your ribs otherwise they run out. We called ahead 3 dinner plates of ribs. By the time we got there they had run out of ribs(we heard other patrons requesting them and they were told they were sold out) but because we called ahead they had our set aside. I enjoyed the casual and bright ambiance of the restaurant and loved the«sh*t we won’t ever have» menu including unsweet tea and a few others. My ribs were great. My dads ribs were great. My wife’s ribs were off but we didnt realize it until she had almost eaten all of them and asked us if we’d like to help her finish them. They were DRY all the way to the bone but clearly hit with an extra layer of BBQ sauce on top. Im not sure exactly what happened there, but we were served a dud plate and it happened to have gone to my wife who was VERY pregnant at the time. I had a bit of her ribs ended up with gas later. Dad had a rib or two ended up hitting the bathroom pretty hard later. Wife unit got very sick. No harm to the baby or even to mom the next day, but it was disappointing that we would have been served what was clearly a bad rack of ribs. We never said anything to the cook because we don’t really like to be confrontational but that’s our story and we won’t be back.

We have been to this restaurant several times now and each time we leave full and pleased. I cannot even begin to explain the amazingness that is Bluffton BBQ’s ribs. They literally melt in your mouth. Greens and potato salad are my favorite sides but the Mac n cheese and Brunswick stew are delicious as well.

Gotta admit, Blufton’s BBQ was pretty darn good. I got a Pork and a Fork plate. I tend to not get pork BBQ outside of SC, and I prefer the mustard based sauces of the South Carolina midlands. That being said, This was pretty darn good. The pork was juicy and tasty. The sauce, while not mustard based, was a great complement to the meat. for sides, I got the Mac and Cheese and coleslaw. The M&C was good. The slaw was interesting with bits of corn and olives, and something hot I couldn’t identify. It was a winner! I hit there last night so it was a little on the quiet side(this is certainly the quiet season for the town), so the service was as fast as you’d expect for that sort of situation. Loved it, and want to go back and try the ribs. ;-)

Awesome bbq! Best in Bluffton. The pulled pork is saucy and delicious. The sandwich is on texas toast, so FYI if you were expecting a bun. The ribs are super tender, fall-off-the-bone. Sweet potato casserole is so good it tastes like a dessert.

The star of our pick-up was the Brunswick Stew. The actual que was good, but the sides kind missed the mark. Olives in the coleslaw? Not my thing. I didn’t think there was a coleslaw I wouldn’t eat, but this was one of them. They have a list of things they will never have, and some of the southern hospitality you get at most SCBBQ places is lacking here.

Yum! Some of the best ribs ever. Fall off the bone delicious and great sauce. And their sweet potatoes? Like dessert. Also LOVE their cole slaw and Mac & cheese. They have a list called shit will never have on their board — so if you need mustard or Splenda, you are in the wrong place :) No liquor license but they do have a cooler of free beer. Feel free to grab one with your meal. And get there early. It’s a small kitchen and popular so you don’t want them to run out on your favorites.

Quite suitable for a quick lunch on the patio. The BBQ is different than what KCBBQ aficionados(pointing finger at self) love, but it wasn’t bad — just different. The coleslaw was another taste divergence — not sweet and tangy — not bad, again, just different. The pulled pork was tender but not as highly seasoned as I am used to. The portion was a comfortable lunch size. The 3-bone teaser plate was just the perfect amount for lunch for a guy. Wish there could have been an adult beverage to slosh it all down, but a liquor license, or the lack of one, is a business choice not necessary a menu development strategy. Cutesy country décor in small building with a pleasant outside brick-paved patio: one small grouse is that the toilets are accessed directly from the dining area. The lack of a discreet entrance and exit to them is a tad repellant. Date of Visit: 20Mar14

Ok, yes, the owners are Tea Party fanatics, but so what??? Are we judging how good the food is, or their politics? If you want to pick on their politics then you’re on the wrong web site. The place is small, open on irregular hours, is not fancy, and is slightly out of the way. But, again, so what??? I was looking for a high quality bar-b-q place that offered good food at a reasonable price, and I found it! I did not care that it was hard to find(for those too illiterate to read a map), or was not fancy. I walked in there an obvious Northerner and, unlike some places in the South, this seemed to matter nothing at all to the owners. They were pleasant, friendly, and seemed to care if our food tasted good and if we were happy. Well, I can say that everyone at our table(3) were happy with our meal and no one complained about the décor or the service. And though two out of three at our table did not agree with the tea party nonsense on the wall, all of us left with happy stomachs and wallets that had not been damaged or abused. The bottom line is, we all liked it there and we all agreed we’d go back again — politics or no politics.
