A Mother’s Day well spent! The lunch buffet is cheap, but my experience in the past has always been mediocre. They now have new owners and a new cook. Quality of the dinner ordered from the menu was wonderful. The meals are a little pricey, but it has been a while since I have good indian food so worth it today. My 3 picky eaters loved the mild version of the chicken tikka masala. The Ras Malai for dessert and the mango lassi were fantastic.

Really good food. The mild was not too spicy, but had enough to make it interesting. We’re looking forward to trying more of the menu. I just wish we lived close enough to try the lunch buffet.

After a good initial visit last year, I visited again for the lunch buffet recently and it was very disappointing. Not much selection and barely lukewarm food. I stuck to the veg dishes as I was a little worried about getting sick from the improperly heated meat. It was ok but hardly worth the money. When I went to leave I found the only person working had disappeared into the rest room so not only could I not pay my bill, I couldn’t get into the rest room either! Granted there were not enough people to warrant 2 people working but it seemed odd to have no one there either. I’m really sad this place isn’t better as the next nearest is about 20 miles away in Niles but it just isn’t somewhere I think to suggest in response to «where do you want to go for dinner».

I liked it. Wife didn’t. «Not as good as Taj shall in Pittsburgh» she says. Well, I liked it. Get the lunch buffet. ALWAYS your best bet at an Indian buffet.

Best part about this place is their buffet for lunch during weekdays. Wide range of foods you can try to see what you like. If you decide to go back for a dinner, you will have an idea of what you like. Flavors are great… best choice for Indian in the area.

Visited this restaurant while travelling on I80/90. We ordered Palak-Paneer and Dal Tadka as take away. Both were deliciously good. We had Mango Lassi also at this place which was also good. The lady at front-desk was very nice and polite.

I have tried repeatedly to like this restaurant. I am currently sitting in Bombay Star and it never gets any better it’s not anywhere near good. I got my food and it was ice cold(refrigerator cold) I asked if I could please have it microwaved and the«hostess» disappeared into the kitchen. Its been 8 minutes since I have seen my plate. I am not sure how this place stays open. There is never anyone here. She just slammed my plate down. I thanked her and she ignored me… so I repeated myself staring her in the eye. She grunted you’re welcome. I feel so welcome here. NOT. Did I mention Indian food is my favorite thing in the world? Not THIS Indian food. It’s like frozen tv dinner quality. I won’t give them ANOTHER try. After a couple dozen times I shouldn’t be surprised. From now on its a drive to Niles or Pittsburgh. Bombay Star is just awful.

Nice buffet selection. Very good. Has improved since last time we were there when the new owners had just taken over. Definitely going back.

BESTINTOWN!!! Food was great and service is excellent and super fast. It is true that everything here is per order although you do get large portions and most of the dishes come with rice. The food is as flavorful as can get and you do get the choice of choosing the level of spice between mild, medium, or hot. The lunch buffet is also super awesome and features some of the most popular dishes. Overall this place is a must try and one of the best restaurants in the area.

As an Indian from the dc metro area, I expect more from Indian restaurants. The food was ok quality, decent portions for the chicken tikka masala, pricing seemed a bit high for the area. Especially since naan is not included with karahi dishes but is charged $ 2. But then again this is Youngstown, there’s not much going on out there in terms of ethnic food. So they don’t really have to try to make the food awesome. It’s not a good representation of Indian food. Buffet is alright… Same stuff sitting out there for hours. Try Bombay curry and grill in niles. It’s definitely better.

Awesome dishes! Their chicken saag is very tasty! My boyfriend had never tried Indian food in his life and now recommends this place to everyone, especially if they love spicy food! I like how you can choose from mild, medium, hot, and Indian hot to adjust to your liking. Will definitely order again!

As suspected, this once stellar restaurant has changed owners. We could tell right away something was different so after we dined last night I jumped online to investigate. They are skimping on everything. Our once loved dishes are now sub par. This is the second time our favorite Indian restaurant has changed owners only to end up really disappointed. We’ll probably start going to Taj Mahal now regularly. Was never our favorite but far more superior to what these new people are serving up. So sad.

This place is AMAZING! I have been going there for years to enjoy the lunch buffet and have not been disappointed yet! I go with friends at least once a week if not more. The selection is fantastic and I can not say enough good things about the staff as the service is phenomenal. Although there is a group of us «regular customers» that visit each week, the restaurant is always busy with new happy customers as well! If you like Indian Cuisine, you will like Bombay Star!

I learned after eating a very disappointing lunch that this restaurant has recently changed owners. The food is nothing like it used to be. Bland watery and completely unremarkable. I actually walked out of the restaurant feeling a great sense of loss. My favorite restaurant in boardman and I will not be returning. Please ignore any reviews before 2014 there is not a single thing the restaurants food now shares with its past.

Not serious about putting out a good product. Been twice and i’m done. Cold food and cold host. Cleveland or Pittsburgh for the real thing.

I enjoyed a wonderful, flavorful and perfectly spiced dinner at this Continental Indian restaurant. The channa masala is delicious, and the basmati rice and naan were both top quality. My one gripe is that the vegetables in the navratan korma were diced too small and there weren’t enough of them. They also put paneer in this korma, which strikes me as gilding the lily a bit… do you really need cheese in a cream sauce this rich? Having said that, the flavors were terrific, so I didn’t dislike it, just wished it were more to my taste. I haven’t tried the lunch buffet here, but they leave the signs up on it when it’s not in use, so I was able to see that the buffet looks like a rich bounty of both vegetarian and meat dishes. I’ll be back for that for sure. Service is excellent and truly helpful.

This was an unexpected find along the highway on the way home from Cleveland to Pittsburgh last night in the Youngstown area. I am not one to give 5 stars to places I have just visited once but if I have a couple more meals like I did last night, I would have to consider it seriously. We ordered vegetable korma, channa masala and onion naan. It was all spiced perfectly and the flavors were great. Sometimes Indian food can be too oily in restaurants. These were handled deftly. I thought there could have been bigger pieces of vegetables in the korma if I had to complain about something. I found a few bits of potato, peas and cauliflower but really had to look amidst the big pieces of unexpected paneer which I really didn’t want to find anything resembling a vegetable. I guess it all broke down into a sauce. The dish was so tasty that I will give them a pass but would not order it again. I really thought the channa, rice and onion naan were perfection. They served us a bit of desert on the house to finish. The service was terrific and I can’ t wait to come back and try some more.

Having lived in India all my life and then coming to Youngstown to get my education, I «used to» miss Indian food more than my family members. There were no Indian restaurants in town and not having a car didn’t make things any easier. Bombay Star was a Godsend for my friends and I. I went there more than 10 times in the first two weeks that they were in business. The food is authentic, one of the best I have tasted in America. If you are a fan of spicy food, make sure you tell them to make it «Indian Hot». They have everything from Indian appetizers, to vegetarian and non vegetarian sections and dessert. I love their tandoori(stuffed baked in a charcoal/clay oven) menu. They have an all you can eat buffet for lunch everyday so I go there often with my colleagues. All in all, a MUST try.
