Great value for lunch and dinner. The food is always consistent and yummy. We love this place

Have to give this a middle of the road score, not because the food isn’t great. It actually is. There is a woman who runs/owns this place who was so incredibly rude to me the last time I was there and I had been going for about 1 ½ years. I tried to place an order for pick up and she reprimanded me in such a ridiculous manner, it was all I could do to repress the impulse to swear at her. It was obvious she knew she was very ugly and wrong. She was too pig headed to admit this and apologize for treating a customer this way. My boyfriend still makes fun of her attitude. The food is really very good, but this woman’s customer«service» really stinks. That said, order to go and make sure you deal with someone on the phone who knows their own store hours and pick up procedure properly to avoid her unnecessary nonsense.

I decided to check out Boca Skewers for a late lunch on Saturday, the restaurant is small with indoor and outdoor seating, we decided to stay in since it was rainy out, the décor is cute and there is a nice mural on the wall, there aren’t any TVs in the restuarant. When we arrived there was a large party that had just arrived prior to us, adults and children probably about 12 of them total, they were the only ones in the entire restaurant, for the exception of us 2. A friendly lady took our order but that was the last we saw of her until we left. There was a gentleman that was tending both our table and the large party, he was obviously overwhelmed and not attentive, every time he came out he didn’t check on us or even looked in our direction, it was very frustrating as we tried to get his attention several times. We ordered 2 lentil soups which took quite a while to come out, when they finally arrived it was just ok, bland and watery. I asked for a refill for my ice tea when we were able to finally get our server’s attention and that also took a long time to get, I thought he had forgotten but I eventually did get my refill. For lunch we shared the vegetarian combo plate which consisted of Falafel, Hummus, Tabouli, grape leaves, baba gannouj and eggplant but we asked for extra falafel instead of the eggplant, and it was served with a single Pita for us to share. Again, it took some work trying to get our server’s attention to request for extra pita, he just brought out 1 more. The Hummus was not good, we left most of it, the Tabouli was very good, the baba gannouj and grape leaves were just ok. When it was time to ask for the check again we again couldn’t get our server’s attention, when we finally did we waited for at least 15 minutes to have him bring us the check. The restaurant was not full, he only had 2 tables. The food was average, and definitely not worth the aggravation of the poor service.

This was one of those experiences that just kept getting more frustrating as the clock kept ticking! We drove up to Boca due to the lack of a place to get a decent meal in Pompano and were lured to Boca Skewers due to the good reviews from fellow Unilocalers. When we first walked in, I noticed the place was quaint — only a few inside tables and a few more outside. Most of the inside tables were taken by a large party composed of an adult and a kids table. There was one other table when we walked in, but they didn’t stay long. From the get-go we sat down and it was a bit before anyone came over at which time he dropped off menus but did not take a drink order — and I was thiiirsty! It was a long time before I ordered a drink, which was ordered with our meal and an even longer time before we received drinks. For the sake of brevity — this set pace for the service, it was overall awful. The servers were hardly ever out of the kitchen, and when they were they mostly came out to check on the large table and wouldn’t make eye contact. No checking on how our meal was, no refilling our glasses. It took forever to get clear our table, get check, and to get the check picked up it was 15 minutes! Awful! They simply did not seem to care. The food did not redeem them at all. We each ordered a lentil soup. I ordered a small, my sister a large. The soup was just simply decent, nothing out of this world. We also ordered the appetizer sampler and substituted the eggplant with the falafel — they wouldn’t sub for the Spinach Pie. The portions were really odd. We got a huge heap of Tabouli Salad(which I don’t eat), A large heap of watery bland hummus, and about half as much Baba Ghannouj — which was decent. There were two grape leaves which were two minty for my taste, and 4 falafels(2 extras) which were soft and pasty. The food was poor, the service was poor, and other than the mural the place was lacking personality. They dealt with fluorescent lighting by placing cheap yellow film or covers on the fluorescent lights. Made it look like a cheap diner — well, guess that was adequate for the food and service.

My taste buds are still remembering that yummy lentil soup!!! I went for lunch to this cute little Mediterranean restaurant. They have some great lunch specials until 3 pm and I tried the chicken kabob with the lentil soup to start with. My friend Sidra had the kofta kabob which she enjoyed. Each platter came with sweet rice or plain rice. I opted for the plain rice since I don’t like mi x sweet and salty together. However, I tried my friend’s sweet rice and they were not very sweet, just a touch of sweetness. Everything was superb, but I just wish they had one option of spicy or seasoned rice to compliment the platter instead of plain rice. Next on my list is to try the falafel there.

This place rocks… first, it is super cute with only about 10 tables but service was fantastic and top of that the food was tremendously delicious. At $ 7.99 for a lunch special you can’t go wrong. Two of us ordered hummus falafel wraps and the other person ordered a eggplant hummus wrap. The pitas were perfectly cooked and all of our wraps were fantastic. The lentil soup that came with the lunch was just absolutely delicious. There is No Doubt that I will absolutely come back. I was most pleased with the service and food quality. For $ 8 you’ll walk out stuffed.
