A solid 4 star restaurant. I see many review comments around poor service, I can only say that we had great service mid-afternoon on a Saturday. So service gets a thumbs up as far as I’m concerned. The only service related item that I’d mention is that I’d like if they provided those little wet wipes that are common a BBQ restaurants. We had a small order of ribs and a pulled chicken sandwich. Both were good but next time I’d ask for ribs without sauce as it was a bit too sweet for me, not bad sauce just not what I prefer. Overall a nice spot and I will return.

Slaters has really come along way in the past few years. Bruce has got the brick oven pizza dialed in now and the pizzas come out crisp but not burnt. The dry-rubbed wings are good. If you’re looking for extra spicy, these wouldn’t be for you. But they have a nice taste. Slaters recently added a bar serving beers on tap and wine. Last time I was in, they were serving Wormtown and a few other good brews. They just recently received approval for a full liquor license from the town. The one issue I would have is the pace of the food. With one oven & a lot of customers, there tends to be a bit of a wait for your food. If you call in for take out, I’d add about 10min to whatever time they give you. But it’ll be worth the wait.

Whether or not you’re in the area or an hour away, make sure to take the time and stop by. You won’t regret it. This is my go-to place for a fun Friday boy’s night out. Coming from a college 30 minutes away, Slater’s has always been able to comfort my brutal post-exam traumas. The service is always on point, with the perfect combination of a warm family environment alongside comportment excellence. The food here never fails to hit the spot. My personal favorites are the Pulled Pork Nachos, North 95 Pizza, and Baby Ribs. The Pulled Pork Nachos are light but savory. Delicious pulled pork over banana peppers, cheese, and nachos? Talk about a scrumptious appetizer. My mouth waters whenever I wait for them to come out. The North 95 Pizza always puts me into a food coma(a delicious food coma). I don’t care how full I already am, I’m always capable of fitting another slice. I believe the pizzas are wood-fried, I have no idea what that means but I’m assuming that means cooked to PERFECTION. Im not going to say much about the Baby Ribs because one line will explain it all: the meat is so tender it falls off when it gets picked up.(If you don’t get the hint, it’s absolutely finger-licking delightful) Originating from Los Angeles, California, the foodie lifestyle is huge and I just wish Slater’s opened a chain near me. I’m surprised that they don’t have a perfect 5 star rating. The Unilocalers who made bad reviews either had a terrible day or are just outrageous. I try to come here at least once a week so say hi if you ever see me!

Seriously? Paper plates and plastic silverware? And terrible chicken wings. I was in Bolton for work on a Sunday afternoon and needed something quick. The options were basically this place or Subway. I wish I had time to order a pizza. It looked pretty good. I got«spicy wings» because I love chicken wings. They weren’t spicy, basically had nothing on them, and they weren’t served with any sauce. The menu said they had a dry rub and were baked to perfection. The skin wasn’t even cooked. They were flabby and weird. I paid like $ 13 for bad wings with a PAPERPLATE and PLASTICFORK. That stuff is OK in all star BBQ joints. Service was slow too. She acted like I didn’t belong there because I was wearing a suit. People in the woods have no food options so when ONE place opens up they probably think it’s amazing.

Stopped by on a Saturday evening after we saw the prime rib special online. The place was almost full with 2 large parties plus assorted smaller tables. The sign said seat yourself, and we did. We sat. And sat. And commented on the nice family atmosphere. We caught the eye of both waitstaff more than once, but nothing — no menus, no hello we’ll be with you shortly, not even a glimmer of acknowledgment, it was as though we didn’t exist. After about 10 minutes of being invisible, we got up and left. By then the owner noticed and as we were leaving asked us «didn’t you get menus?» Well, we didn’t. I know it was busy but it takes about 3 seconds and 6 syllables to say«Hi, I’ll be right with you.» I think the owner means well and it’s good to support local businesses but I don’t think we’ll be trying it again anytime soon. Too bad, their pizza is good.

I can’t believe Slater’s only has three stars! It doesn’t say much for the cranky pants Unilocalers who gave it poor reviews based on, well, I’m not really sure but I suspect Slater’s has been the victim of food trolls. First, I would like to address the pizza. I have not had as good a pizza since I was in Naples, and I don’t mean Florida. I’m talking Italy. Returning to America, Slater’s pizza is the equal to Frank Pepe’s in New Haven— now a chain restaurant. Slater’s crust is delightful. The wood-fired oven gives the pizza the perfect char. The pepperoni is first class as are all the ingredients. Now, the Caesar salad. It’s perfect. It’s not traditional but it’s creamy and delicious. Plenty of croutons and thin slices of Parmesan. The only better Caesar is the one I make. Here’s an admission! I’m not overly fond of BBQ. I don’t like food you need to feel like you need to see your dentist for a cleaning or food you have to fight with— like lobsters or ribs. The wings! OMG… mouth-watering, moist, succulent and very flavorful. Not crispy or dry. The ribs! Flavorful, meaty. Perfectly done. The meat falls off the bone! The brisket! On a slider, topped with Slater’s BBQ sauce, it becomes a memorable feast. I want to end with a comment about the service. I have eaten at Slater’s three times in the last months. With no apologies, I can’t find anything to complain about! The wait staff was prompt, courteous and friendly– in a west of Boston kind of way. I have to wonder about someone who complains about a waitress wearing a tank top in a pizza and BBQ restaurant. Next, maybe you want to complain about paper napkins, plastic knives, or forks? What Slater’s is not is a Mistral or a Smith and Wollensky. If that’s what you’re looking for go back to Newton, Cambridge or Boston. I’m giving Slater’s five stars because, in their class, they deserve five stars.

MYFAVORITEPIZZAINTHEAREA! I see some people have had bad experiences, maybe because they get super busy and sometimes have new staff. Luckily never affected me and I love the place food, music and fun. Great addition to Bolton, not much here!

Charming, very New England type menu, with great and under appreciated bbq. Funky and confused inside, killer sandwiches. Pizza… there are SOMANY good pizza’s in the area, I really go for their pulled anything sandwiches and extra napkins!

Bottom line: delicious food, poor service Our family of five ordered three sandwiches(cubano, pulled pork, meatball) and baby back ribs. We walked in at 5:25 pm on a Saturday. We did not get our food until 6:10 pm after we informed the server that we had to leave by 6:25 pm for the rink. Staff desperately need training in customer service. Will not be returning.

The food is good but they need more servers. They usually have one person working the whole restaurant including takeout. Therefore, the service is awful, but it is not the fault of the server. If you come here expect service to be slow. But the pizza and sandwiches are good.

This place sucks! Walk in there tonight with a friend to a sign that says, «Please seat yourself». So, you seat yourself and after 10 – 15 minutes of watching the waitstaff talk to each other, still no one came over. At this time, a table of four walks in. They sit right down and the waitress(wearing a tank top in February and who is also serving your food… gross!) walks right over with menus and greets them. At that point we walked out and nobody cared. We did see her walk over with menus as we were walking away. Great job with warming greeting your patrons Slater’s! We won’t be back!

I just ordered takeout after reading the reviews which seemed to slam the service. The food is indeed excellent, and although I can’t speak to table service, the takeout service was as good as it can get, the food was ready when they said it would be, and I was asked very politely if I would like plasticware and/or napkins. Indeed the people working there are quite happy, and very cool. The food was absolutely scrumptious and definitely worth high marks. Definitely recommend, and we will be going back there again for sure.

I ordered a large mushroom pizza, take-out. The menu on their website advertises a large pizza for $ 12.50 and added vegetables for $ 1.25. They charged me $ 13.25 for the pizza and $ 1.50 for the added mushrooms. And the mushroom pizza itself? I’ve ordered pizzas from Domino’s that have had more mushrooms on a single slice than this entire pizza had on it. The pizza possessed a scant handful of mushrooms, clearly added as an afterthought. A couple of slices had barely any mushrooms on them at all. As in maybe two. Two mushrooms on a slice does not a mushroom pizza make! The pie was floppy and tasteless. When I contacted the business over their regularly-updated Facebook page, they read — but did not respond — to my complaint. Too busy updating Facebook to properly run a restaurant, I guess. I like pizza and was hoping to find a regular local joint. I hope that losing my business was worth it to them, as I plan to warn everybody(including the family who recommended it to me) and find another restaurant to service my pizza needs. I advise you do the same because at Slater’s, the customer comes last. UPDATE: The owner reached out to offer me a refund, which I have gratefully accepted, so I’ll add a star to my review. While I likely won’t return, I’m thankful for the restitution and the customer service.

Stopped in here for a quick bite before heading up to Andover and it was nice. I’m glad we came here and not to one of the hundreds of chain restaurants in the area. This little spot is a unique local joint that has a real homey feel… Our server took great care of us. Nice, friendly, and accommodating. We had the Bbq sampler and a veggie pizza, both were good; it satisfied both our palate and our appetite.

This is a strange place. First, when you walk in, there are no booths and anything like a regular restaurant. Just a few random metal tables like you’d put on a patio. No wait staff, we had to bug someone behind the counter to take our order(BBQ and pizza). My pulled-pork sandwich came soon, it was OK. As we checked on the pizza for the kids, they told us it would be 30 minutes or more, they were behind all the phone orders. Rule #1 Bring all the food out at once. Rule #2 If the food won’t be out together, let your customers know. It would have been a good hour had we decided to wait. I had high hopes driving by here so often. HUGE disappointment. Makes me wonder if they even really wanted to do this.

I’m back on board with Slaters, after my first experience here were the food was delicious but the whole people thing was weird, me and my wife have been back numerous times for takeout and for dine in. The people are simply enjoying themselves more than I would have thought people working typically would, their comfort struck me as weird at first, now I see they are simply enjoying themselves, and the food is still very good. I have tried numerous pizzas, all of which had been very good, deli sliced pepperonis a Buffalo chicken pizza without onions(which is how it should be) all woodfired, thin, crispy and delish. We have also tried quiet a bit of the BBQ which is all very good. My wife enjoys the Cubano sandwich and I enjoy their tender beef brisket, which comes with beans and a very good corn muffin. Great experience here and we will continue to come back!

Been to Slaters a hand full of times and always left happy. The pulled pork is excellent– and that is coming from a decidedly non-bbq kinda person. Their sauce is also delicious: sweet and a little spicy. Food was served quick(we only got BBQ); I can’t speak to the speediness of the pizza making while waiting but I can say the pizza we’ve ordered for takeout is scrumptious and wood fired. I’ve never been disappointed with the food. The service is good and the wait staff is friendly. A nice casual place to grab a quick bite or order takeout when the thought of making dinner is preposterous or you’ve got a hankering(did I really just use that word?) for some delicious BBQ.

We came here so my 10 year old daughter could preform in her first open mic night. The place is very small and cozy. We were a party of 7 which is big for this place. It took us a while to get a seat because of this, but the staff was attentive to our needs checking in with us to let us know which tables were probably leaving soon and giving us option on how they could rearrange the tables to accommodate us. The guy who was running the open mike saw my daughter holding her guitar and introduced himself and gave her a rundown on how the open mic works. He was very welcoming and helpful and friendly, which was something that became a theme through the night. We ordered a couple of pizzas(the Black and Blue and a cheese) and they were delicious. My only issue with the food was that the black and blue was supposed to have brisket on it. My daughters mom said she tasted it, but I did not notice it was there. It did not matter though because it was awesome anyway. Our waitress was very helpful and friendly bending over backwards to make sure we were happy. It was loud and chaotic and hot in there and many people working in that sort of environment could easily not be the friendlies, but she did not let it get to her and was just great. The crowd was excellent as well. The performers ranged in age from grown adults down to a little boy who could not have been more than 6. The crowd treated each performer with the same respect and attention that you would want to have as a performer. I have been to make open mic nights where the person on stage is battling to be heard over the conversations at the bar or in the dining area. This was not the case at Slaters. The audience listened and gave their full attention and then gave huge applause no matter the skill level of the performer. It was such a positive experience and we will definitely be back.
