Always a pleasure to eat at Sofia’s. The owners Vincenzo and Emma are always super helpful and accommodating. The Restaurant is Chef Owned so the food is always fresh and prepared perfectly. Its the best Italian food in the Hudson area. We had our company Holiday party there as well and everyone had a blast!

Husband and I dined here today for lunch. We were the only ones dining there the entire time which I thought was strange. Food was hot and tasted fresh, however I ordered the meatball parm sub and it came with zero cheese on it. I’m used to melted mozzarella cheese on these sub sandwiches. The owner/server did not seem overly friendly so I didn’t ask for cheese. I will say the tomato sauce on my sub was very fresh tasting. My husband got up to fetch me some grated parm cheese in a shaker bottle and the owner and cook just glared at him. My husband seemed to enjoy his meal though. What I found most curious however was the ladies room. They had a handicap stall but to get to it,(and all the other stalls) one had to go up a very tall step. After just coming out of a wheelchair for seven weeks I thought… this is NOT handicap accessible. I thought it was a very odd restaurant and to be honest the place gave me the heebie jeebies.

Enjoyable time — very attentive service by knowledgeable, helpful, and accommodating staff. Portion size was plentiful and the pasta was flavorful. Tiramisu was a lovely and surprisingly light end to the evening.

Great food, lots of parking out back and a friendly staff waiting to serve you REAL Italian food. If you want the real(from Italy) Italian meal, then eat here. I’ve been eating here since they opened.

First off this review has no relevance to the quality of the food solely the service. Now, given the understanding that myself being in the restaurant industry for 15 years it usually takes quite a horrible experience to warrant a one star review. Upon arriving shortly after 5pm we were greeted and then seated. After that we were completely ignored for almost 20 minutes. Gentleman that had seated us walked by several times noticed said nothing and continued about rearranging a few tables for a party in the dining room. A waitress on the bar poured a glass of wine for, possibly herself given that no other diners were in the restaurant, also saw us sitting there and walked away. Now had anyone of even come over to say anything, even told us that they had only just opened at 5 and that the servers for the evening were running late or something(even if it wasn’t true) We probably would of stayed to enjoy dinner, but we had no choice but to walk out.

I got take out from here a few nights ago. My wife got the tagliolini and meat sauce and I got chicken brocolli alfredo. My wife loved hers and so did I. Very good Bolognese sauce. The alfredo however is too thin for my liking. I just want a thicker cheesier sauce, sorry. Also came with free bread. All said I think three stars is fair.

We were promptly seated and our drink order was taken. I shared a prosciutto appetizer with a side of fresh mozzarella and balsamic vinegar, with a friend. We found it delicious and made quick work of it. I had the spaghetti alla bolognaise. The sauce and pasta were fresh and flavorful. My wife said her lasagna was excellent. Our dining partners enjoyed a fresh sea food in red sauce and the cheese ravioli. They both agreed theirs were also perfectly cooked and full of flavor. We were not rushed to leave once the tasty desserts were polished off. That is a nice change from some other restaurants we have eaten at lately. Having talked with the owner when he stopped by at the table I suspect they are simply unaware of the MA state law that requires gift certificates be valid for 7 years since they opened after that law was passed. If you like good, fresh Italian food then give Sophia a try. I know we will be going back.

Delicious traditional Italian food. House made sauce is wonderful-not too tomatoey-just right. I had the eggplant parm and was like butter. The desserts were fresh and perfect. Owner came to visit table and was so nice and you can tire ally tell they put love into their food. We were treated like family. Also they were more than happy to make special accommodations for vegan diner. if I lived closer I would go all the time! Go to Sophia!

I went to Sophia’s restaurant and presented a $ 25 gift certificate that I purchased in 2011 and has not yet been redeemed. I was told by the server«sorry» and that they no longer accept those gift certificates. This is against Massachusetts state law. There are plenty of other options in the area and although I like supporting local business owners, I do not appreciate nor support places that do not act with integrity.

Simply outstanding! My sister, our kids and I came here for lunch today. We are big foodies. The chef was there but not the staff… we were very early. Not only did the chef welcome us in, serve us, he also made items off the menu for our kids. The lasagna was the best I’ve had since being to Italy. Top notch staff and food.

Molto Bene! I got the chicken Parmesan. I know, not very adventurous but listen I have a theory if you can do chic parm to perfection then you must know what your doing and indeed Sofia’s does. It is Italian owned and operated Vincenzo and his wife Emma and I mean off the boat Italian the real deal in Hudson no less. You wont be disappointed.

Sofia’s gives you the feeling of the North End without having to travel to Boston. However, their prices also make you feel the same way. The food is excellent. Service is great and friendly. They have a great wine selection and make one good cosmo! The portions are huge, so be prepared to take it home with you!

Never go here! Our whole family went, choosing to give this place business because it is not as crowded as the other restaurants in Hudson. That should have been the first clue. My sister got lobster ravioli, but chose not to eat it because she didn’t think the lobster tasted fresh. The waitress then brings out the chef, who then approaches the table and actually yells at my sister that his lobster is fresh and who is she to say it’s not fresh. After a spectacle that left us speechless, he returned to the kitchen. When the bill came, the waitress and the regulars started loudly discussing ethnic slurs regarding our family so that we could hear — I am not kidding. I had to walk out because I was so shocked and pissed and luckily the bill was paid, so we could all just leave. Unless you are a glutton for punishment, don’t ever go here. The people here are crazy.

First off, whoever has issues with this food wasn’t raised Italian and are under your Olive Garden and Chef Boyardee misconceptions of how things really are. This is North End food, non-comparable to a «bistro» as someone else commented. Not enough can be said about the food. As far as the setting, it’s comfortable and just laid back. I’m not looking for fake clay roof tiles inside or some sort of poor reach showing it’s an Italian restaurant… the food says Italian. Onto the personalities of the ownership/staff. Two main stories stand out in my mind when I think of this place: A few years back I was going to night school in Worcester for more training in the construction trade I am in, and I’d obviously be hungry right after that class seeing as I’d go there straight from work. I’d stop in at Sophia’s every now and then over that 4 month period, which may I add I’d feel bad because it was close to their closing time, but the owner would have no problem throwing in an order for me. On top of that he’d also have a conversation with me while I was there alone. Always making me feel welcome, never rushing me out. Story two: I graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy and had a party of 11 which ended up going to Sophia’s, again edging towards closing, and they actually stayed open late for us.(I might add this was cleared with them a week prior, but they always could have said no to staying open) Some may say it’s pricey… it’s not Taco Bell… it’s actually good food. I have nothing but good things to say and have noticed the majority of complainers leave reviews on any review site, so I had to leave mine.

Kind of keep this short, Brooklyn guy here. Food was good and the portions could have been a slight bit larger. The restaurant was empty except for perhaps one other couple. I felt like the entire restaurant staff was staring at us the whole time. Waitress was complaining about her tips and she looked like Madonna from«Desperately Seeking Susan». If good fellas drove pick up trucks this is their place. The place needs to be brighter inside and redo the exterior. Wine list was good. Lower the prices and it would have a better draw.

I am very impressed with this restaurant! I have to say, I was a little skeptical when we drove up to the place, but immediately as we stepped in we were greated by the owner and placed at a lovely table by the window(best seat in the house I think!). The owner was also our waiter on this Wednesday night, but was very attentive and gave fabulous recommendations for both food and drink. He went into detail about how the dishes are made and showed such passion for food and his restaurant. For appetizer we had a caprese salad, which is always good. For plates, we all ordered off of the homemade pastas. I got a butternut tortaccini with vegetables, my boyfriend got the ravioli with mushrooms in a cream sauce, and my boyfriends mother got the pappardelle noodles in a sausage sauce(which is not on the menu, and was very accomodating). We sampled all dishes and were blown away with each of them. The noodles were fresh and fantastic. I don’t think I would ever be able to eat boxed pasta again — especially since I’m not a pasta fan to begin with. We topped our meal off with the homemade tiramisu which was light and flavorful. A perfect end, to a wonderful meal. Needless to say, I will definitely return! This restaurant is PERFECTO!

As a New Jersey transplant, I’m used to being able to stumble past five good Italian joints on the walk home. But in Massachusetts I’ve rarely found an Italian place that appears to be run by Italians. Other than in the mythical«North End.» Look. New Yorkers don’t have to go to Little Italy just to get decent pasta — why should everyone in Mass? Yes, it’s a bit pricey, as in $ 5 higher per plate than any other Italian place in the area. But it also tastes better. They are not afraid of salt or other seasonings — big plus for Marlborough. Someone tell the restaurants around here the salt is the white one. They portions are solid for both appetizer and entrée — and I am far from a small person. I had chicken in a mushroom cream sauce and a mussel appetizer, my wife started with the prosciutto and mozzarella, and finished with veal parmigiana. It was wonderful to see fresh diced tomatoes for red sauce, and large chunks of fresh cut garlic for my wine sauce — rather than the Stop and Shop brand pre chopped garlic that Italian places around her seem so fond of. A carafe of house wine was $ 29 bucks, and it wasn’t a bad Montepulciano. Was it a $ 12 bottle of wine? Probably — most restaurants charge 2 – 3 times the price of a bottle, as a wine drinker you get used to that — but the man who I am assuming was the owner was so attentive, he swooped in and poured every glass for me. Alcohol is always cheaper at the liquor store — it’s the presentation that makes it worth the price when you’re out. The waitress was the only one there, and she still made a point on a busy Saturday night to check in with us regularly. Bravo For 2 apps, 2 entrees, a carafe, another glass of wine, dessert, cappuccino, it was about $ 125. So yes, significantly more than the price of a Papa Gino’s pizza. The difference being, someone there probably actually had a papa named Gino. And you could taste it.
