Incredible. Fast and fresh. The dill sauce is not to be missed and I liked it even better than the tartar. Portions are huge and I could not even come close to finishing my ½ order of fish and chips. Very limited offerings on the menu but that is fine by me, they do fish and they do it well!

Pleasant staff offer up a superb fish sandwich, tasty chips at this lively decorated take out stand on the Boothbay entrance area common. Huge portion of fish of fish cooked just right on a nice roll. Clean picnic tables off the road and vending machines for drinks. EXCELLENT!

Great lightly fried haddock. We split a dinner size portion which included 2 types of fries and it was plenty. Inexpensive. We’ll go back the next time we’re in Boothbay

Best haddock you can find in Boothbay. Just delicious and fresh. Not a fan of the fries but the fish… Oh my God! Just perfect. Coming to Maine and not eating at Beth’s is just not a real vacation.

Regular visitors to BBH past 10 years — can’t believe I’ve never tried this place. Easily one of the freshest, most delicious fried fish I’ve ever had. Seasoned perfectly, massive portions(either they operate on thin margins, have a friend who’s a fishmonger nearby, or catch their own haddock), you will not leave hungry. Full and ½ orders of fish and chips available — the full is enough for 2, though glutton that I am, I et it all! Btw, they ONLY do fish fry — sandwich, with chips(mix of fried and potato chips, both homemade), or by itself. Genius way to control quality and costs. Fairly priced at $ 18 for full order too. Limited hours, they often run out on busy weekends. This place obviously one of the few spots real locals will patronize. Best meal of the vacation, which included most area restaurants like Mine Oyster, McSeagull, Tugboat Inn, lobster dock, and a few roadside lobster roll places. Nobody does what these guys do, which sets them apart. If you’re reading reviews and are undecided, don’t overthink it — go here ! Will make this a repeat stop for all future trips to the region. And if the owner is reading this and is ever interested in selling the business…

We went here on a recommendation. We were a little hesitant as we generally have had bad experiences at these little road side stands. Not the case here. They do fish. Only fish. Huge portions of fish and chips that were ready in minutes and they were busy. My pics are of one regular order($ 18) and one half order($ 9) and it was more than enough for three adults. Fish was fresh and cooked perfectly. Chips were a nice surprise with a combination of hand cut fries and potato chips. various condiments from Cajun seasoning to catchup to malt were available. Along with a side of garlic butter or dill dip. Take your tray of fish and eat in the back and one of the picnic tables. Yum.

Going to Bet’s after Memorial Day means it’s summer. I go whenever I have a day off. It’s about 20 miles from my home. My husband and I spilt one order of fish and chips with some to spare. The fish and chips are consistently excellent as is the Down East humor. The two flavors of tartar sauce are unique; try them both. One is made with dill relish and the other with dill weed. If you leave Boothbay without stopping, your trip isn’t complete.

This place is so great we went twice in one week. The portions are RIDICULOUSLY big — a half sandwich can feed two very hungry adults. Fish is very lightly breaded and fried to perfection. Try both the tartar sauce and the dill mayo that they offer. Not sure I have ever tasted such fresh fish!

Glad to have stumbled upon this road side fish fry place. I got ½ fish and chips for 9 dollars. It was just the right amount for me. The fish was nicely fried and very fresh.

Fresh haddock and huge portions! I loved how their chips were a mix of French fries and sliced potato. It was definitely worth the 90 minute drive!

Oh Bet’s. There really is no better fish fry in all of New England, the United States, or England for that matter. While some may complain about the lack of variety on the menu I say go eat at a real restaurant if that’s what you’re looking for. Bet’s is famous for fish, specifically haddock, and she is darn good at it. We almost never get more than a half sandwich and that’s split between two adults. It’s amazing. I skip the bun and would much prefer fish in a dish because who wants to muddle this perfection with bread or sauce?! I like my fish from bets all naturale! And of course you get the local flavor of Maine from bet and her family. We go at least two or three times a week when we are on vacation.

Out of this WORLD. We stopped here while on vacation for a quick lunch after having driven by it everyday of our trip. The absolute best fried fish I have had. We got a whole order of fries and a whole sandwich. This was enough food to feed 3 people at least. if there is two of you, get a half order. I felt guilty throwing such wonderful food away. Next time(oh please God let there be a next time) I would just get a half order of the fish and chips… we didn’t really need the bread. The fish was fresh, flaky, delicious… and the batter it was fried in was light and delish! This is as good as «fast food» gets! If you go by… you MUST stop. Worth every penny!

Bet goes out on her boat and catches her own haddock, then fries it up for you in huge amounts with some yummy fries. Try the special sauce instead of tater, or use both like me! So Good!

This is little shack, not much bigger than a food truck. The menu is Haddock, Haddock, Haddock, that’s it. Their Haddock fish and chips are the best. Tip… If you order a half order they put the fries into the paper bowl and then put the fish on top. If you want it to go they cover with foil. This makes the fries soggy. If there are two of you ordering, suggest you order a whole fish and chips that way you get the fries in one bowl and the fish in another. This is the best way to order. If you have no choice but to order a half order of fish and chips then have them put the fries in a separate bowl and the fish in another. This will keep the fries fresh and crisp.

The choices are fish and chips or fish on a huge or moderate size bun — that’s it and that’s all it needs to be. Incredibly fresh and delicious with a little tartar, dill sauce, vinegar or just plain. The batter is light and crisp, but definitely wouldn’t last a ten minute car ride, so eat it fast! Looks like the prices haven’t changed since 2007 — so it’s a really good deal as well. One $ 14 order of fish and fries feeds a family of two adults and two young children easy. Love it!
