Yummy! Had the steamed lobster and mussels. It was good. They have cider but in the can. My daughter enjoys the bacon cheese burger. The potato skins are great.

My husband and I stopped here for a light lunch after walking around Boothbay Harbor for the afternoon. I ordered a cup of the lobster chowder that was full of lobster chunks, potatoes and corn kernels in a rich, silky broth. Delicious! I also ordered a pound of the local mussels served in a white wine and stock broth that was full of flavor. The mussels were all good-size and plump, cooked exactly right. In my whole order there was only one unopened mussel(score!). My husband ordered veggie quesadillas and said they were awesome. There drink menu was okay — nothing special. The service was slow-paced, but friendly. There was a busy lunch crowd, so lots of hustle and bustle. The restaurant is located pretty much in the middle of town, so a great location. A good spot!

My wife and I went here because we saw the back deck and thought it would be a nice place to enjoy a meal. We were told all the had was the back bar open. Sounded fine by us. We walked out and the«back bar» is a shelf facing the back of the building next door with all the trash and slime in the water. The waitress was one of the worst and slowest I have ever dealt with and it was like pulling teeth just trying to get water. We ordered an app and our meals and sat there for the next 50 minutes waiting without a word from the waitress or even her coming over to ask if we wanted more than water to drink or wanted more as they were both empty. As we were getting up to walk out because we were sick of waiting she came out with the app and meals at the same time. After trying them, we wished we had left. The food was sub par bar food at best. We barely touched it, asked for the check and went and ate down the street.

This restaurant is a tourist trap. We came for happy hour(the worst beer). We also ate fish and lobster. Fish was obviously not fresh and dry. Overall a bad experience.

Woah, that lobster chowder special, holy moly! Love the vibe here, very neat, and there’s a select number of seats out on the waterfront with a lovely view. Mostly average fried food here but they have all the good seafood dishes, lobster, snow crab legs, you name it. Boils too.

Super yummy! I got the fried haddock sandwich and it was delicious. My sister and I are from Maine, so it was a bit tourist-y for us. However our server Nicole was very sweet and prompt. We sat on the deck and it was very beautiful. They also have a touch and feel lobster bin which is pretty great for tourists. My sister taught a couple how to sex a lobster and hypnotize them. It was a great lunch :)

Phenomenal service, great food. Go to this restaurant every time we come to Boothbay Harbor. My favorite soup the have is Lobster Stew unfortunately they don’t always have it. Tonight we were pleasantly surprised after being told that don’t make it much anymore, the chef after being told the reason we came and if they knew who else made it. Offered to make me a cup just for me. I’d say great service and it was amazing.

I was initially disappointed by the slow service but it was very busy and they made up for it ten fold in the end. After they brought the food it was delicious and then they brought us a bag of rice for my brother in laws phone that he dropped in water. The cook even came out to make sure we had enough rice. Slow start but overall really kind staff and diligent.

Well, we switched up tradition and because we got in earlier than usual due to lighter than normal traffic coming up to Boothbay, we skipped the take out from Boothbay House of Pizza and did sit down at Kalers. Had a short wait, but got seated and settled pretty easily. Given it was a busy day, all we wanted was good basic food and Kalers didn’t disappoint. Three of us got the Broiled Seafood Combos(I did Haddock and Scallops and the were perfect — not overdone and not over seasoned). The youngest got Steamers that came right in the netting they were packed in for sale. She tore into them like there was no tomorrow with only a few uneatable clams along the way. The last two did chicken tenders(I know, at a seafood place), but they were both very happy with what they got. Also, I forgot to mention that I had New England clam chowder, although the reason I probably nearly forgot was that it was ‘stolen’ by the youngest who note, «You never told me how good clam chowder is…» Go figure. Anyway, all that to say on returning five years later, can still report that although it isn’t the fanciest place, it is solid on the seafood and worth more than one stop when in Boothbay.

Only Place in Maine(just about) where you can get Crab Legs!!! Friendly staff, food was VERY good. The Décor made me feel like I was having dinner inside an actual ship, very cool. You can see the Bay from almost all of the tables. Definitely would go back again if I was in the area.

Chowder was wonderful but the crab legs were not fresh & were overcooked. Lobster a little bland.

Best haddock chowder in Maine! Best happy hour in Maine! Great staff! We were lucky enough to be there when bell was rung for dollar drinks. Will go back!

Great food, friendly staff, and relaxed atmosphere. It’s was the freshest calamari we had ever had. The chicken fingers were moist and delicious. They were very accommodating for the 10 month old in our party.

The food wasn’t super memorable, but nothing negative to say about it. The baked beans were great though.

Stopped in for lunch because another spot I was looking to try was closed. The service was good and attentive. I had the clam chowder which I thought was very good medium thick and plenty of chunks of clams. I would give the chowder nother go round. I know I’m in a sea port known for seafood and I ordered the blt for lunch. It’s not to hard to screw up a blt but this one hit the mark with toasted bread and nice crispy bacon. It was a nice lunch to bad the weather wasn’t better and I can’t blame them for that.

Came here in a whim while visiting boothbay on a camping excursion. Got the maine lemonade — it was decent. I had the lobster roll which was great. Loved that it was mainly just lobster. No mayo, etc etc. place was very honky tonk but extremely friendly staff! Intriguing signs for VERY cheap happy hour’

Visited Boothbay Harbor on a rainy Wednesday in August. We viewed the menu from outside first and decided it was sufficient for our seaside lunch. There was five of us and they accommodated us to a corner table looking out at the boats. Casual seaside atmosphere/décor. Waitress was on time and there was no problems with service. Menu and drink selections were plentiful. Our group had the clam fritters, clam chowder, fish & chips, chicken wrap, broiled fish sandwich and a side order of onion rings. I asked for a side salad instead of fries and it was $ 2.99 more but well worth it. I was expecting iceberg lettuce but got mixed greens with cucumbers, onions, tomatoes and some croutons. The clam chowder was nice and creamy, which is how it should be! Overall everything was satisfactory… Was it the best food or best view — no. But it is casual, waterfront, good food/drinks and priced right. I would definitely recommend and go back. Outside on their little pier or deck they had a holding tank with lobsters. I saw kids and adults checking it out. Nice added feature.

Fantastic seaside restaurant. Nothing super fancy, but everything is done well. Service is friendly and attentive, décor is cute, the sea-creature pool is great fun for kids(and adults!) They have a happy hour daily from 3:30 — 5:30. It’s fun to spend that time on the deck, relaxing in the summer sun and then meander in for good food. Compared to other places downtown Kaler’s prices are definitely fair and usually cheaper. Again nothing fancy, but it’s a crowd pleaser. Plenty of choices always well executed

So I guess I missed HH by 5 min and thus no cheap beer for me =\ Granted it was only 12 oz PBRs, but hey who would complain about a cheap PBR? Ohhh well I had to order a pint for $ 2.75. Still not a bad deal when you think about it. This place seems to be fried heaven. The cooks all apparently went to the school of stick it in super hot oil, punch a timer, and when the alarm goes off the food is ready. You think I am joking? I am not. I do not recall seeing anything that wasnt deep fried. So needless to say, I was a bit disappointed after hearing this was a «local» hangout and about the best grub in town from two different locals =\ So the munchkin ordered the baby shrimp off of the kids menu which came with fries. These were acceptable, edible, and honestly what I anticipated. She ate about half of them and a few of the fries. We were unable to substitute Onion Rings for fries =\ Pro Tip: meh, I would go elsewhere, unless its for drinks for HH! I ordered the coconut shrimp and got Onion Rings on the side. The ORs were ok, but nothing special. They were the heavyily breaded frozen kind =\ Then there was the coconut shrimp. I love coconut shrimp. We are on the wharf at a decently known seafaring community where shrimps are a catch and I get crap. Absolute crap! Hell Elephant Bar has better coconut shrimp! These things were pretty small; in size and number. I got 8 coconut shrimps that if extended were not longer than 1.5−2“s in length. Then the coconut flavor was so strong and they were so well done, there was zero, let me emphasize«ZERO» shrimp flavor! It was like eating some weird coconut item that’s consistancy didnt match the flavor. It was also overfried. I was only able to discern I was eating shrimp by the shape and the fact that I ordered shrimp. WTH! They have a very good location, but dont hardly have any views of the water. This was totally perplexing as the building is on the edge of the docks and quays. The ambience seems to be perfect for a wharfside attraction. Go down the staircase, lots of kewl memorabilia relating to seafaring and fishing. There there was the half crappy service half acceptable by the waitress. I would love to be able to name her but that would get me in trouble with TOS. Just know if its a tall brunette with short hair, you need to be attentive. She did get the munchkin extra crayons, but was hovering when you didnt want her to and gone anytime you needed anything. Consequently, I dont get any high rating for this place. I was being nice with a 2 star in my humble opinion.
