Went here last night with my eldest son and his girlfriend for his birthday. This my second visit here and it was as good as the first. The food was excellent, both in taste and presentation. The wait staff was attentive and plentiful. This is an intimate restaurant, but the noise level was very low, we could enjoy our meal and conversation. This all made for an enjoyable evening. We will be back again.

Disappointingly the food is not worth the poor experience. The service and attitude leaves much to be desired, and leaves the consumer uncomfortable when asking for basic needs. Skip the rude ambience and walk over to Marcellos or Toscanos for good food and pleasant service.

We stopped into Oliver A Bistro while staying at the Fernbrook Inn B&B. It is located in a quaint, peaceful town, along a strip featuring book/antique shops & other eateries. As we were there in December, Oliver’s holiday menu was in full blast — namely, «the Hot Scottie» and pumpkin soup. Both are unreal. The Hot Scottie is a thanksgiving sandwich featuring oven-roasted turkey breast, homemade stuffing, cranberry sauce, and homemade turkey gravy. Absolutely delicious. The pumpkin soup is almost like drinking pumpkin bread batter, but with more subtle flavoring. It is the best pumpkin soup I have ever had. I had planned to return the next day to order the exact same thing, only to sadly learn they are not open on Sundays. I certainly plan to return next time I am in the area!

Went here the other day for lunch after reviewing menu, loved the selection of sandwiches and burgers. Started off with a pumpkin soup that was delicious and very different than most pumpkin soups it was sweet like a dessert. For my meal I got the Vermont cheddar burger with avocado. It was a nice size burger with salad on the side. The burger was delicious on a fresh roll. My only complaint is the place was not very busy and our service was very slow. There were about 4 tables of 2 seated and I believe one server was handling all. I would definitely be back to try the other items in the menu.

Food was delicious. My wife and would go back and that is all I should have to say about the food. Try them, give them a chance.

Finally able to get out and about(do not break your shoulder) and decided to venture over to Bordentown for dinner at Oliver. It was Halloween and Farnsworth Street was alive with little ghosts and goblins — all having a great time. Oliver was doing their«Burgers on Halloween» night and the menu was filled with some incredible offerings. The place was busy and our food took way too long to arrive. We all chose to go with«some pink» on our burgers but someone forgot to tell the chef. All the burgers were overdone, but still very good. My fries were soggy and lukewarm. We had the Truffle Mushroom Burger(2), the Umami Burger and the Triple«S» Burger and, aside from being overdone, they were quite good. My wife and I had Maryland Style Crab Mac & Cheese while I had the Chorizo Mac & Cheese. We were going to combine our leftovers but I managed to finish mine … Tim and Sue had the Roasted Potato with Cheddar and Bacon soup which they thoroughly enjoyed. Oliver is BYOB and we shared some great craft beers while Carol had wine. Only 4 stars due to the burgers and extra long wait for our food.

Dining is Bordentown can be tricky. There are many restaurant to choose from and many are top notch. We have dined at several. This was our first meal at Olivers and by my 4 star rating, I am planning our next visit. The only and I mean only reason they have 4 not 5 stars is due to the heat we endured while seated in the front window. Although they did have a small fan on the floor, it was not enough to keep us cool. Let’s begin with the appetizer, shall we? We ordered the mushroom & truffle oil bruchetta. At $ 4.00 each, it was delicious and well worth the price. Warm toasted baguette with sauteed mushrooms, shaved Parmesan cheese, and truffle oil. Mouth watering. Also the hummus, pita equally good(but we did battle over the brushetta) forgive my spelling, I am in a hurry. Our entrees arrived, perfectly on time. Not too soon after the apps and not long enough for me to whine about my lack of food. My spouse thoroughly enjoyed his salmon dish(he literally cleaned the plate-I am taking his word for it since I am not a fan of salmon) But my entrée was spectacular. The dinner special: Bacon wrapped filet minion, whipped garlic potatoes, oh-so-good. Tender and juicy. Cooked perfectly. When I ask for«medium» THIS is what Medium should look like. Our waiter was kind, patient and knowledgeable. He did not eye roll at my request for lemon water, ice for our wine, etc. We even asked him for a suggestion for dessert. He suggested the Butterscotch Pie and he was spot on !! It arrived mile high — top layer– whipped cream, second layer butterscotch filling– almost custard in consistency but dense. Bottom layer was a chocolate fudge, not too sweet, hint of bitterness balanced out the sweetness in the top layers. The crust was made of chocolate crumbs and butter. It was outstanding. It made us both fans of butterscotch with the first bite. We noticed a flyer for music in the coming weeks — a Sinatra type tribute. We will definitely return to Oliver’s. The bill was fair and reasonable considering we brought our own wine. Our reservation at 6pm on Friday was necessary as it did fill up quickly. If you are looking for a middle of the road not-too-fancy-but still romantic and intimate setting — with mind blowing food. This is the place.

I love Oliver and the food but they are slipping lately with getting it out in a timely manner. Also, the waiter we had tonight wasn’t too good. He never checked back after he delivered the food and then we waited a while for the bill. Also, they need to get some cushions, or pillows, or something for the wooden bench at the back of the restaurant. It’s REALLY uncomfortable and does not make you want to stay and get dessert.

Ambience, service and presentation were good, but very limited menu and taste was average at best. I had meatloaf, which was super filled with carrots and overly doused with tasteless gravy. My husband had cauliflower steak, which was described poorly and was no more than cauliflower clumps in a gravy. All of the veggies were fresh and crisp. Overall, it was a mediocre experience at best, which was disappointing after the positive comments we had heard from locals.

Basically a let down and not up to our expectation at all. Okay BYO atmosphere but waiter was detached and not very observant. The food was sub-par for a place this highly rated as Jan’s streak was a little chewy and lacked flavor and my crispy chicken was drowned in the same beef gravy her steak was served with, also a bed of gray looking and pasty risotto that was not eaten. They may be living on their past reputation and I’ve been kind here with a three star rating, but we would not return…

Please sir, may I have another lunch. Because my choice of shrimp tacos was not the best. They were baby shrimp and I was expecting at least medium, if they were a larger size they could have been grilled or seared to lend a bit of umph, the slaw was ok, but overall flavor was kind of uninteresting. The result was wet tacos that were falling apart. I also tried the mac n cheese. It was ok but a bit underseasoned, I added salt and pepper and this is something I hardly ever do. Today was my first lunch here, but I’ve had dinner on at least 4 occasions. Those dinners were all 4 stars. They used to feature a prix-fixe menu every night, now it is only available on Fridays. The menu has shifted to more casual/comfort food. With many of the lunch options also available at dinner. So I thought my choice of coming for lunch would be a good way to evaluate Oliver’s new concept. Is it possible I choose the wrong item? Perhaps. But after an uninspiring lunch, I am in no hurry to return. Service today was friendly, but unprofessional. I asked for water and the waiter brought me iced tea instead. As he put it down he «realized» his mistake and tried to make a joke when I said it was ok. I think it would have been fair to not charge me, but he did. I feel I am being generous by awarding 3.75 Unilocal. This is based on the dinners I have had in the past, and the fact that this may still be the best byob choice in Bordentown. Note the keyword«may».

Went to Oliver’s on a Thursday night. Wow! The food was great. We had a cheese plate and mussels. Both better than expected. For dinner I ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken was crispy, full of flavor and cooked to perfection. My girl friend had a turkey burger which I had for left overs today. Even for left overs it was good. Our serve Josh was great. The bus boy was also great. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Great place for lunch or dinner the food has never been anything but perfect. Last time my Wife and I went I had a perfectly cooked Filet mignon and She enjoyed a pasta dish with a blush sauce. One of the owners Matt make outstanding Burritos every Wednesday at the Bordentown Farm Fair. Keep doing what your doing guys.

Great, fresh food! I ordered a wrap, they are generous with the meats and especially avocado. Everything seems like it’s prepared to order. The potato soup is delicious, topped with crisp bacon. The only thing I didn’t care for was the service. They seemed a bit slow, even though the restaurant was by no means packed.

Went to this cute place one night after work. The wait staff was great and the food was delicious. My coworkers loved the mushroom brushetta and since I don’t like mushrooms I decided to try one of the Mac and cheese apps. Needless to say, the Mac and cheese was a hit! I also had a salad with roasted butter squash that was incredible and to top it all off the chicken and waffles really impressed me. The chicken was moist and seasoned well and the combination of the sweet waffles and bacon and a sliggt drizzke of syrup made me eat every crumb left on my plate. I would love to come back to this place one day.

This place is fantastic, definitely one of my favorite restaurants. The food and the service are always excellent. I love their creative menu. If you go for lunch, they have a really good soup/sandwich deal. The potato soup is heavenly! You will not be disappointed!

First… the potato soup is AWESOME !!! The service was great, food was fresh and the server checked to make sure things were gluten free for me… Highly recommend eating here. Then you can walk off the great food by walking around Bordentown.

This place is a little piece of foodie heaven in the quaint historic town of Bordentown. A cozy and intimate setting decorated nicely. Now for the food; I ordered the crispy chicken entrée which was fantastic! Cooked to perfection and paired well with the risotto and vegetables. The portion size was generous. My hubby had the filet seasoned well and piping hot. We shared the short rib Mac and cheese; outstanding! As a BYOB the tab is not going to shock you. Def worth the price and we will be back again soon.

Mmmmmmmmmm so good! I was in town for the Cranberry Festival and we stopped here for lunch. They had an awesome deal: soup and a whole sandwich for $ 10 or soup and half salad for $ 8. I got the soup and sandwich combo. I stuck with their everyday potato soup with cheddar cheese but I held the bacon. It was delish. They also had a pumpkin soup, but you really have to like pumpkin things because this was extremely pumpkiny! Lol. It was like the consistency of baby food. My friends liked it, but I did not. It is thick and filling so be careful! The sandwich I to was the roasted chicken arugula car mailed onions mozzarella cheese and balsamic reduction on a baguette roll. Mmmmmm this was delicious! I was full from the soup and having a bite at the festival but brought the rest home for dinner. It was still so good just heated up a little in the toaster oven. The people were friendly
