This place is absolutely delicious! I live next door and eat there at least once maybe even twice a week. I don’t eat seafood but their Philly cheese, burgers, salads, and rice dish is the best. My fiancé eats the seafood and said its the best and freshest around. I recommend try it, you won’t be disappointed.

My daughter is in college in East Texas and on my visit I decided to stay at Sams in Shreveport. As i roamed around this lil country town I found Captain LA. I’m from Los Angeles and most of the small mom and pop eatery are pretty good. So I took a gamble and boy was I glad. During my stay I ate her 3 times. The shrimp, fish and chicken a tastefully seasoned, the sides were pretty good too. Now that the summer is over my daughter is returning back to school and you best believe I’m stopping by Captain LA at least twice.

This place is good if you need greasy food. The staff is friendly and helpful. I don’t think they know the differnce between grilled and pan fried. I was trying to cut down on the grease and got more it. The fish was salty too. The mac and cheese is watery stop top. The dirty rice is good.

fried food is good… Mac and cheese sucked… coleslaw was good! hush puppies could have been better… kinda pricey for all fried food.

I had shrimp and catfish. Shrimp was very fresh and good. I would definately order that again. My husband had gumbo and it was so-so. Red beans and rice were good. Inexpensive good fresh food

Big Word Alert: I am chagrined that it took me moving away from the Boss City for me to try this place… Seriously I missed out on at least 5 years, if not more, of damn good eating due to my Cro-Magnon ignorance… I was back rolling in the Boss City around Thanksgiving and my best bud wanted to grab lunch here PROTIP: He’s a lineman for the electric company and if you see electric company trucks outside a Mom & Pop joint stop in cause the food will be damn good… Those guys dance with ol’ Sparky on a daily basis and they ain’t got time to waste on crappy food! Anyway this place don’t inspire confidence from the outside but man they offer a menu of Southern comfort food and cook up damn fine fare… From fried and grilled fish(catfish of course) to fried and grilled shrimp(combos, platters and plates) fried oysters, chicken wings, frog legs, fried chicken, red beans, gumbo… fried okra, dirty rice, hushpuppies… Whatever you might be hungering for this place has got it and they’ll cook it up right! Don’t forget the burgers and sandwiches(Italian Beef, Philly Cheese, Oyster and Shrimp poboys)… We ordered a mish mash and basically shared off the plates… the burger was outstanding, the Italian Beef was muy excellent and the catfish was fried just right… Hell when we rolled out of there I was scared to drive for fear of falling asleep I was that stuffed! Prices are damn reasonable and you get your money’s worth! So if you find yourself on Texas Street between the Red River and Benton Road swing in and get you a damn fine meal…

Great food & good service! Tried the gumbo and the dinner special, fried gizzards and shrimp with cornbread. Portion size was plentiful and the food tasted great!
