This place is really becoming a hit or miss. Sometimes, the pasta tastes amazing, other times, it is drenched in oil and tons of garlic(arrabiata). I really need to make it a point to ask what’s inside of their sandwiches too(could be remedied w/more descriptive menus). I ordered what I thought was an egg, pesto, tomato and spinach sandwich for breakfast, but was surprised when I got to work and noticed the bacon in it.

Solid sibling restaurant of Basta Pasta in Cambridge. Tucked downstairs in a building on Summer Street, you can get a fresh meal here at lunch. Nice change of pace from other places nearby. Chicken parm w/homemade pasta really shines here. Killer dish!

Before I ever went into this place, I had a coworker get me a breakfast sandwich, and also a pasta dish… delicious. Right across the street, what could go wrong right? Customer service… that’s what went wrong. When I started actually going into this place – which has no real signage, or any reason for you to go in and grab a bite if you’re not told how to get in there and go down the stairs– my thoughts on Buco plummeted faster than Twitter stock. I have never encountered a woman who is in the business of serving people that is legitimately upset when customers come into her establishment. I apologize for ruining your Instagram post, but can you please take that«I just took a sip of bad milk» look off your face and do your job with a little less sass? Also, when I come up to the counter and you don’t acknowledge me for 30 seconds while looking at your phone, I actually want to kill you… but that might be because I’m watching Dexter right now. The food is an 8 out of 10. Great breakfast sandwiches(they run out of croissants early) and great pasta dishes. Lunch is a little overpriced, but I’m wiling to look past that if someone else is dealing with the wench behind the counter, because the food is actually great and there are no other legit italian spots in the area. All in all, this is a 4 – 5 star establishment in terms of food(big ups to the chef) with a 1 star chick behind the counter. The food is good enough to deal with that woman once, but she is literally killing the business because no one will go out of their way to visit Buco again in fear of dealing with her again. Buco, please fire her and put a sign out front/get some marketing out on the line. The potential is there, but you will crash and burn if you don’t improve customer service. At least 10 people I work with go to Marco Polo down the street or somewhere on Congress St. for lunch because they don’t want to deal with her/can’t find it.

I have eaten here about 5 times, every time hoping it will improve. I am always disappointed. It is conveniently located so in a pinch I’ll grab lunch here. They consistently mess up my order, and I always order directly from them menu with no adjustments to what is described on the menu. They are always nice about fixing their mistake, but is frustrating to have to consistently return with my food. When they do get the order correct the food is sub-par, especially for the price. Also, on multiple occasions I have gone well before closing(40 minutes before they are supposed to close) and they are already closed and gone. Considering how close by other really great sandwich options are(i.e Flour Bakery and Bees Knees) I will likely not give these guys any more chances.

An amazing and much needed addition to the area! I’ve worked on this side of the bridge for a year and a half and it’s always been lacking in places to grab a quick decent meal, either as takeout or to have a place to sit and eat. This place is the perfect balance. Easy and quick for takeout but also a nice atmosphere for a quick sit-down lunch. The breakfast sandwiches are so good and so cheap! Trust me, it’s worth walking an extra half a block past Dunkin to get a delicious breakfast sandwich and real cup of coffee at Buco. They have a very authentic Italian menu for lunch. I’ve gotten many pasta dishes to-go for dinner. I love the bucatini amatriciana. The sandwiches are also amazing. My favorite is the chicken saltimbocca. This is definitely becoming a regular for me, and I told people in my office about it and everyone loves it! I’m only sad it was there for a few months before I even realized it existed.

«Yay! I’m a fan.» is right. I am, indeed, a fan of Buco. I’ve only been here twice; once for lunch and once for breakfast, but I like it and plan on coming back. Getting here is like its own mini adventure. You enter from the street into what looks to be a mostly abandoned industrial spot. Walk in a little and take the steps down that are on the right side. These curve around and then lo and behold, you are in Buco’s open space. There’s a little drink cooler to your left and the ordering counter to the right. The Menu is written in chalk behind the counter and, like Natasha mentioned, it’s lacking in description. Everything is open and clean, if a little drab and sterile for décor. If sitting down, they will bring you your food after you order. They have a decent selection of Italian dishes, they are pretty quick to serve food, and everything is tasty and fresh. I had the carbonara and while the eggs looked like they cooked a little too quickly, the flavor was wonderful. My friend had the bolognese and said it was really good. Fellow coworkers(3 thus far) have raved about the gnocchi so that is what I will try on my next visit. The staff, from my exhaustive 2-visit experience, doesn’t seem overly enthusiastic nor happy to be there. Recently I got a breakfast sandwich on a bagel, and a chocolate croissant to go with it. Both tasty. They also have coffee drinks available, also on my list to try next visit. Overall, Buco is a pretty solid addition to the Fort Point lineup of places to eat. Easy to get to, quick service, decent prices, and better than average food quality. Definitely recommended.

I love this place! They have a wide selection of homemade, fresh pasta and paninis that are more like subs in size. Ever since I discovered the sub-street level café, I’ve been hooked. Food always comes out fast and the staff is friendly. The prices are also really reasonable for the quality of the food.
