As noted by others, Game On has gone through a transformation. While it’s sill very loud and impossible to get a table unless you arrive two hours before a Sox game, the service is still poor and the food much, much worse. If you’re a child who is content to eat pizza and wings for dinner, then Game On is your place. Getting anything that resembles an adult meal is impossible. We ordered burgers which were very average. Gone are the hand cut veggies and, in fact, there are zero vegetables on the menu. We had to settle for pizza toppings on our boring salad. Even the french fries were boring. On a more recent visit, we tried the pizza, which was good. The bad part was that half of it ended up sliding off of the unsecured pizza rack(we were not warned about) directly onto my white jeans. Instead of apologizing and offering to comp us a replacement pie, our ditzy server said, «we don’t usually buy you a new beer if you spill it;» completely ignoring the fact that the pizza racks are supposed to be secured to the tables(as they were on all the surrounding tables). When I mentioned that my jeans were likely ruined, our server blamed me for sitting at the end of the table! Believe it. Game On employs self-absorbed, inexperienced servers; and their«new» menu gets old fast. You’d do much better to get a meal at Lansdowne Pub or even the Cask & Flagon. If it weren’t for the prime location(adjacent to Fenway Park) I would completely avoid Game On.

Pretty average sports bar. Service was attentive but not particularly interested or welcoming. Food was surprisingly pleasant. I had a nice burger with fries and my husband had wings which he said were actually very tasty. One good thing I can say is that the prices are very reasonable, cocktails are nice and strong for $ 9 and a good beer selection. Great if you happen to be in the area and want a cheap bite or a beer but don’t expect anything amazing.

Hit up the restaurant for lunch. There were very few people there for lunch. Took about 15min to get a pizza. The waiter forgot our appetizer and spent much of the time talking to someone at the other end of the bar. Price was average to good for the area. Nice sports, classic american bar ambiance. Coal-fired pizza/flatbread style was good. They offer coal-fired wings which sounded good as well. Their buffalo chicken pizza didn’t have much buffalo on it. Friendly staff.

The place is cool and super fun to go to and have some drinks before and after the sox game! But as for there food… not so good, and it’s a little over priced for what it is.

It’s newly REDONE, including the menu and once again the destination for Fenway sports related/pre-game dining. It’s been renovated and now has a Max & Leo’s menu upstairs. If you have not had this pizza, GO. It’s top 10 in Boston, with amazing, top quality ingredients and crust TFD. Coal fire oven does it. The nacho’s and wings are also cooked in it, so yummy. The salads are huge and delicious and I hear sandwiches and burgers have been added to the menu.

Definitely button up and khakis needed here. There are two floors, one is standard college chill spot which is upstairs. The down stairs includes a spot to play ping pong or corn hole. Come here if you’re 25 and up.

Big change from my previous review, but SOMUCHHASCHANGED! The Game On Bostonians were accustomed to is now gone, and it has been upgraded to the new and improved(and delicious) Max & Leo’s at Game On. Let’s start with the space — it’s beautiful. I never imagined saying that about what used to be an unkempt sports bar, but the seating is warmer and inviting and the bar is masculine and high end. My favorite part is the completely open kitchen. You can see the coal-fired ovens which are rolling out menu items which you’d never expect. Max & Leo’s menu has changed the personality of Game On. Now they’re rolling out thin crust pizzas which are nothing short of high quality and delicious. I’ve had the Margherita and the BBQ Chicken, and both are amazing. I’m a New York pizza snob, so that’s saying a lot. My next favorite menu item? The wings. I’m never someone who craves wings unless I’m pretending to be a football fan during Super Bowl, but I salivate thinking about these wings. My favorite(as I drool all over my laptop) are the Honey Hot Habanero. They are tastefully spicy with a kick which will keep you eating and drinking and loving. I’m the last person — legit THELASTPERSON — to say to any of my friends: «Hey! Let’s go to Game On for dinner!» With Max & Leo’s now at Game On, I make every excuse to bring my friends there.

Came here for a friend’s birthday last night. Service was good. Waitresses were really nice. Downstairs has a fun atmosphere with ping pong tables. Really packed on weekends though. Their menu had a pretty extensive pizza list so I had to try one. I went for the BBq pizza and it was the most disappointing pizza I’ve ever had. Pizza has never failed me before, even when cold its delicious. But the BBQ chicken pizza I had here was extremely dry and bland. How do you make a BBQ pizza with barely any BBQ sauce? I dont think there was any sauce under the cheese either. Every bite was just straight up dough, cheese, and some dry chicken. I had to ask for extra BBQ sauce so I could drench my pizza in it. I shared it with a few friends and they shared the same disappointment I did.

Food review: I’ve never been here before so I can’t say how it was compared to the old food. This time though, I went for a Unilocal event and got to try quite a few different pizzas. They had a prosciutto, pear, and brie pizza that might just be my new favorite things. The pizzas arent huge but could probably comfortably feed two people and are a little on the thin side if that’s your style. They had many other kinds like bbq chicken and chicken pesto which I also super enjoyed. The wings weren’t little either, but you’re really coming for the pizza I will say the service was slow when I went which annoyed me a bit because it was a closed event so I thought they should have been better prepared. They clearly knew when we were coming. One pizza every 10 minutes for 100 people is not ideal BUT I realize that normally you have a server who takes care of you instead of every man for himself which is why I’m trying not to let it skew my review. Hopefully regular service isn’t as slow as this was.

Was recently here for the first time in a couple of years and was impressed with the service and food. The space also looks great post-renovations. I had the margherita pizza, pesto chicken pizza and lemon rosemary wings — heavenly. The pizza dough and crust is really delicious, thanks to the coal firing of the pizzas. The wings were so fresh, hot and meat fell right off the bones. The margherita pizza was a little saucier than I normally prefer but I actually loved it; very tasty. The service was very attentive and friendly, and there are plenty of tvs around the bar with a variety of stations to keep up on sports or news. Will definitely be stopping in here again and recommending to others.

Located right across the street from Fenway, it’s easy to dismiss Game On as being another one of the mediocre pubs catering to tourists and ballpark-goers at first glance. And while that might have been the case before, after Max and Leo(of Newton’s Max and Leo’s) took over Game On’s kitchen, that idea couldn’t be farther from the truth. Their margherita pizza was saucin’, saucin,’ saucin’ on me(à la Post Malone) and the lemon rosemary wings were so good I didn’t even think about asking for a side of ranch dressing to accompany them — and I never eat my wings without a side of ranch! Plus, ping pong tables galore in the basement! Grab a pint(or two, or three) a couple of saucy ‘zas and paddle some balls while watching the game.

The gluten-free pizza was bad by gluten-free pizza standards. My partner is able to eat gluten and described it as inedible so I picked the topping off of her half while she ordered something else. It was served luke-warm at best and was cold within minutes; the crust tasted a bit like cardboard. The service wasn’t good, but it was also really busy. We were sitting at a table and had a waitress but we saw her so infrequently that many of us had to go to the bar to get drinks. Overall, I will only go there again if there’s another work event and I literally have no other choice. I will also probably eat before going.

I was excited to try the recently renovated space and the new pizza. Does it compare to Sals across the street? Right from the start, the service was good(it was also very slow). I was disappointed to see no slice option for lunchtime like they do at Sals. I went with a chicken parm calzone. The cheese and sauce were both great. The crust was good too, but I was expecting more flavor from the coal oven. I was disappointed with the chicken. I was expecting fried chicken, but it looked like generic grilled chicken that would be used as a salad topping. I was also disappointed with the portion. It wasn’t a very large calzone for the price! The jury is still out on their pizza, but Sals calzone is far better at the same price point. Sals calzone are also larger. They also offer a generous lunch portion for 5 bucks, whereas I had to pay 13 here. Based on that, I can’t ever see myself coming back here over Sals — sals even has beer!!! The tired 90s alt rock soundtrack didn’t help anything. In summary, it wasn’t bad and I would maybe even call it good. But why would you ever come here for pizza when there’s a place across the street which has beer and is cheaper, more generous, and more flavorful?

Went for the new coal fired pizza menu. Awesome! Five of us ordered margarita pizza, lumina pizza, rosemary chicken wings, and a couple of salads. Food was excellent — wings were the party favorite for sure. And the salads are huge — which as a vegetarian I appreciate. Inside the new décor looks great, too — not a run of the mill sports bar type of place any more. Much more woman-friendly. Will definitely be back soon!

Worst bar. and they said they just remodeled the place! Maybe you should get new staff. Walked in the hostess told us we couldn’t sit at the high top tables around the bar if we’re only drinking we had to order food or they would kick us out of the table. Mind you there was probably 20 other tables open around the area. seriously? Then we went downstairs and it was so dark I almost fell asleep. Drank half a beer left and wrote this bad review. Thanks for nothing game on!

Except for the very kind waitress and her amazing customer service this place is awful. If you are coming here to drink beer and beer only and watch a game then it’s great. If you are coming here for a real meal then don’t. My beer was warm, my $ 11 burger was far worse then others I’ve had for the same price, and my girlfriends $ 13 salad was made up of iceberg lettuce. There was many negative things about the salad but that’s the worst. Seriously worst place I’ve eaten at in months. I don’t normally review places unless they are amazing or just plain awful.

Anne and Paul McCoy went to a game at #Fenway Park in May, and have never tried #GameOn Fenway before, and the other places reported a seating wait of 90 minutes or more. Game On promised 45 minutes, and gave us a table at 25 minutes. Downside for us was that it was VERY loud, but that was easy to ignore once we got the food. Awesome food, better service, and you can’t beat the speed of service on a Red Sox Game Day. We attended this game to review Fenway and the surrounding area for #ThisIsNewEngland. Read that review at Found them on Unilocal

Swung by here in the middle of the day when Sox was away for a break. A drink break. Pretty dead with an away game on TV. We chilled out in the basement level. I ordered a glass of white wine which I thought was weird to drink out of a plastic wine glass. I rather it be a real glass but can’t ask for much when it’s Fenway. The service was mediocre. I wasn’t really expecting much from a sports bar in that area anyways. I was happy that I didn’t have to wait FOREVER for table service.

Stopped in Game On during a recent trip to Fenway as part of my buddy’s birthday celebration. On a beautiful spring night, we were seated outside on the sidewalk after enjoying cocktails and beers at the bar inside. The outside seating area is very cramped and the wait staff must hate coming out there because we rarely saw them once we were seated by the hostess. The buffalo chicken quesadillas were typical bar fare; nothing special. While they came with a side of sour cream, they could have used a side of buffalo sauce for some added taste. As for entrees, the Game On Burger was OK on taste, but the bun certainly overpowered the tiny portion of meat. The grilled chicken sandwich was also average, but provided a good base for the rest of the evening. The buffalo chicken salad was perhaps the best of our four meals, and the staff must have thought so too because they brought two of them instead of the house chopped salad as our 4th dinner. Service was lacking as our drinks went dry and we received one wrong entrée, but we were there for a quick meal before the game and not out for a 4 star dinner. You get what you pay for, I just thought a place that makes its money on drinks would have paid more attention to refilling ours.

Game On is conveniently located right on Lansdowne street right by the gate we’d use to get to our seats. Since it was close to the start of the game, the restaurant was starting to clear out. We scored a small table in the downstairs area near the ping pong lounge. We ordered a round of drinks and my friend got the espresso martini. She said it was really good. Being the huge hot dog fan that I am, I had to try the foot long hot dog. It was pretty good. Who doesn’t love nachos? We ordered buffalo chicken nachos for the table. They also get good reviews for their wings so we gave it a try. Both were average. The food was OK and nothing to write home about. I would go there again if I was attending to a Red Sox game but I don’t know if I’d visit the restaurant just for drinks or food alone. Prices were reasonable for the area.

Went on a Saturday afternoon during a Sox game so the place was fairly empty. We walked over to sit at a table and was told we had to be seated by the hostess and we did. It took at least 15 minutes before anyone came over to take our order and another 10 to 15 minutes before our 2 beers were brought to the table. Brutal. Due to the slow service we decided we were only going to have a beer or two and leave, but the service actually got better so we ended up ordering a couple of appetizers. We got the chicken quesadillas and the pretzels with mustard and cheese. The chicken quesadillas were dry and the pretzels were good, but the cheese to dip them in was gross. Average service and average food. there are plenty of places to sit and have a beer and watch the game the immediate area. I definitely won’t be back.

There were about 4 customers in the bar, so you’d think the employees would want to make some money… Nope. The staff looked like they were dying to leave, and in turn were rude and not accommodating whatsoever. After waiting five minutes for a beer, my friend complained about it being kicked and all he got was attitude in return. Shortly after, we could see the bartenders whispering in each other’s ears, and looking over at us. I don’t know if there was no manager working that night, but they need to train their staff and show them what customer service is and some common curtesy while they’re at it.

The service here was atrocious! We opened a tab at the bar and then sat at a table. I understand bartenders and waitresses having different tabs so I was prepared to close my bar tab and open one at the table. Well the waitress gave us the biggest attitude I have ever seen because she knew we had a tab at the bar. She didn’t want to serve us. Hello! This is your job! We FINALLY were able to order drinks and food from her even through her snotty attitude after much confusion and paying cash plus running two different cards. Our food came and the buffalo chicken quesadillas had sour cream all over them. They looked reused. Asked for a new one and it came with salsa even though the first time it was said no salsa because I’m allergic to cilantro. The sandwiches we had, pulled pork and Cubano were above average which is why this review got two stars instead of one.

We stopped at Game On before a Red Sox game. We had every intention of going somewhere else but waited a bit too long and most places were already packed. We were promptly seated downstairs. The service was ok. A bit slow, but acceptable given the huge influx of people during the game. The food was mediocre to sub-par. I had the chicken nachos and was disappointed. I would recommend going elsewhere unless you are just looking for a place to have a beer.

Came for a work fantasy football«summit». A surprisingly good beer selection(hello slumbrew and dogfishead on tap) at a slightly higher($ 7) price. Lots of TVs for a game and they have ping pong in the basement(blazing paddles?) Overall i was surprised how adequate this place was.

Hello Blazing Paddles! I guess it’s been a while since I’ve been here, because I almost didn’t recognize the downstairs thanks to its ping pong redesign. The booths around the perimeter have been removed to make room for five or so tables; the bar area remains the same. Makes for a really fun atmosphere! Use of a table will run you $ 15 for 30 minutes, $ 25 for an hour, with up to 4 paddles and a bucket of balls included. I must say, It’s been ages since I played, but I was pleasantly surprised to learn that ping pong is like riding a bike. Test out your back swing any night of the week! Looking forward to a work outing and/or competitive girls night out here soon.

Game On is not my favorite bar in the Fenway area, especially when it comes to the food. The drinks can be poured and consumed readily, but it’s hard to screw up an order of Guinness. The food and the service, on the other hand, left me with much to be desired. We ordered nachos for the entire table(about six of us), and they were simply alright. There was nothing exciting about them, honestly. I could have made a larger platter in my apartment for half the cost, so I left regretting our choice of food. Our waitress wasn’t the most friendly, either. It was a busy afternoon in the bar, but that doesn’t mean she had the right to deliver mediocre service. There are a ton of bars in this area with much better atmospheres, service, and food, so don’t put Game On on the top of your list.

I am not sure what I should have expected from a «bar type» restaurant located at Fenway Park. Today was not a game day but was at the stadium for a tour and a group of us decided beforehand to meet up for lunch. Game On has a street level and lower level seating area. The lower level has ping pong tables, a bar and several larger tables. They are ADA certified as they have an elevator between floors. The bathrooms are on the lower level are were gross. They had hair in the sink in both the men’s and women’s bathrooms, no soap in either and blowers for drying. Considering the place was practically empty this was disturbing. We sat on the main level and one of the members of the group had fresh lipstick on the rim of their glass. Disgusting. We were served our drinks rather fast and then we ordered nachos which we were asked if we wanted chicken or other proteins. We declined yet when they came they had chicken on them. The tips of the chips were burnt so they must have put them under a broiler to melt the limited cheese and torched the whole thing. We also ordered the pretzels and they came with two dipping sauces, cheese wiz and honey mustard. The honey mustard was OK but the cheese wiz was just gross. Entrees in the group were children’s chicken fingers, a mozzarella chicken and avocado on a chiabatta pressed roll. It was super soggy because the press mutilated the tomatoes. The spinach salad was decent but nothing to run back for. Other selections were gluten free Margarita pizza and a regular Margarita one. The gluten free looked like it came in frozen and was not good at all. If in the area I would recommend Boston Beer Works as a better option if you are seeking quality food.
