I made an appointment here for a facial as the hunt continues for the best place. I made a reservation for a 6pm facial and I never do so earlier than this based on how delayed the green line always is. I arrived at the spa 10 minutes prior and was greeted by an extremely rude woman who said«your appointment was at 5:30pm». She was trying to read me the riot act which was hilarious and just downright poor judgement. The woman doing the facial swooped in and said it was fine and whisked me back to start the facial. I apologized to her for any confusion and she assured me it was no problem. The facial itself was really top-notch and my skin was so visibly clear, clean and glowing. I had a voucher for the«signature facial» which I had been very clear about when I initially booked the appointment. I go to the front desk to check out and I encountered the male employee all the reviews indicate is a BIG problem for this spa. He proceeds to tell me that I owe them $ 25 in addition to what I had already paid for some enzyme treatment. I made it clear that you don’t tack on services without letting clients opt in or out. He was quite fresh and said that I still owed the $ 25. Based on how crappy and unethical their customer service and audacious behavior is, I have no interest in returning despite the high quality of the facial service.

There are many things I do not know — some important, like, is there a g-d? Others less so — is freekeh the next quinoa? But one thing I’ve always been sure of is that whenever I flew home to see my folks in IL, my hair would get properly blonded by Jeff at Beauty & Balance, hero of foils and sass. However, roughly three weeks ago the siren song of Naples became impossible to ignore, and the Parents N departed South. Floridians we became. Obviously this is distressing for many reasons, but clearly the most heartbreaking of which is leaving behind the colorist whose deft touch has kissed my locks with golden tones for 14 years — and so began revived my hunt for a place in Boston that uses the same brand of color so I could deliver them exact instructions to them on how not to eff up and make me bleachy, which has happened up here before(cough, Acote, cough). Despite the fact that my hair spends 95% of the time in an unkempt top knot, low key abt color I am not. And as a result of this voyage, I landed at Green Tangerine, a hop/skip/jump from my apt, and weirdly, through the lobby of the Sheraton. The space is airy, bright — and though they have all the right products if you want to drop hella dollars on hair shizz(hello, Oribe moisturizing cream, I love you) — there is something abt it that didn’t feel… relaxing, even after spending time in their massaging shampoo chair, I was hyped up, rather than blissed out. Receptionists were perfectly friendly, though they did have be down for the wrong appt type, whatever, easily corrected. The colorist was pleasant, not a chatty Cathy, Janice, I think, was her moniker — and, as a bonus, didn’t appear totally offended when I was like — it’s not that I don’t trust you to do your job… which I have zero idea how to do… but like… here are the colors you need to use, pls for the love of all things holy, take no creative liberty. Was efficient — and actually, the color looks beautiful. As most places in Boston do, GT charges for a blow out if you’re just getting color done, a practice that I still find offensive as my hair ends up in a pony appx 30sec after walking out of the salon — I think it’s $ 45 – 85 just for post-color blowie(lolz), which are hella bones to drop on top of partial foils, which start at $ 125 and run up to $ 200 — and if you’re going full balayage b/c you’re a boss, expect color to cost $ 185 – 275 — sooooo, I feel like the least a place could do is have a shampoo person also run a dryer over my hair for 15min. I digress — the man who did the blow out was perfectly nice. It looks decent. But. Not thrilled that they made me do it b/c they needed to «check the color»(which, I get in theory… but in practice I’d rather save the time and money). Cuts are $ 65 – 155, roots are $ 65 – 110, up-dos are $ 100+, keratin is «price upon request». I think they also do extensions? If you want to go full-on Donna and Tom treating yo-self, hit a massage($ 80 – 165), facial($ 90 – 220), and nails(mani, $ 30 – 50, pedi $ 50 – 70). Overall, I feel like I need to let this place warm on me — honestly, the color is spot-on, its convenient, and not crazy pricey for the quality of product they use… but, idk. Something is off. Like a hottie with bad teeth. Though, to be fair, perhaps this initial mistrust is their fault, rather than mine, foolish are they for naming the salon after a fruit known for being more sour than sweet. GT. Convince me harder.

I love this place!!! From facials to hair. Mary did my facial she was amazing the best facial I’ve ever had. She took the time to make me comfortable and find out what my needs are. if you are getting your hair done Brian Nunez is the best. He has a great personality and is very talented. Highly recommend this spa to anyone.

I recently discovered Trish at Mizu(now stationed at Green Tangerine Spa-Boston, and couldn’t be happier. Trish is an outstanding stylist who invites customer-collaboration and total relaxation. What’s also great about Trish, is that her styles are customized according to facial structure and personality. That’s pretty special, as far as I’m concerned!

I never write reviews but I am just completely disgusted!!! First time back after 6 months SUCH a disappointment. Pedicure felt wonderful but went to disgust after polish applied, same for mani. Now I have to pay another salon to change polish. Complete waste of time & money.

I have been seeing Billy Boney as my Stylist-In-Chief for over 8 years– first at Mario Russo, then at Mizu and now at Green Tangerine. He has a critical and creative eye that always makes me feel current and on-point. He has done my hair in sickness and in health and always found a way to keep my hair shiny and healthy to make me look and feel my best. Always a good listener, kind and considerate — funny, with a laugh that energizes the whole salon — how else could I visit with him twice a week for ALLTHESEYEARS? Billy is a hard worker — 100% in – and I cannot imagine being without him on my team. He makes you look like yourself — only better. I always leave the salon feeling uplifted and ready to go! Kudos Billy … long may you reign!

Do not even waste your time here. I generally do not write negative reviews. But I just have to with this place. The front staff is rude and totally fake(aside from Antonella though, I will say) I made an appointment with«Billy» and what a joke he is. There are few salons that offer SoCap hair extensions so I figured I’d give this place a shot. I went in for the consult and waiting at the front while I was then awkwardly brought over to «Billy» by his assistant, even though«Billy» was 5 feet away from us standing there. Hmm ok, too good to greet his own clients, how impressive. I’ve worked in no fewer than 10 upscale salons over the years and let me tell you, this was laughable. He sits me down and looks at my hair, which is the easiest hair to work with. He clearly did not want to do the extensions I could tell based on his entire demeanor and attitude. It was uncomfortable and confusing. He sent me on my way by telling me, and I quote verbatim«I’ll run some numbers and have someone call you with a quote to see if you agree to them.» Buddy, I know how this process works, I also know exactly how much the hair costs to purchase and how much the process should cost at an upscale salon price, and so do you, don’t jerk me around because you see I’m wearing a Birkin bag(which was a replica.) I had them done in Lexington several months ago(feel free to read my review on that) Feeling his disinterest in doing my hair, I called the next day and asked them if I was reading«Billy» correctly and he didn’t want to preform the service. They called me back and quoted me $ 2,000 for a process that should total no more than $ 1,000 with only 100 strands. I laughed and hung up. Save yourself the time and effort and go to Paul Mommola Salon in Lexington.

Chuck Conklin rocks! I’ve been going to Chuck for years and now my fashionista daughter is as well. She comes in from NYC to get her cut and color done by Chuck. Chuck is attentive — listens to what you want and provides suggestions before mixing color or cutting. In the 10 + years I’ve been going to Chuck I have never had a bad hair cut or color. He’s fantastic and I consider it a godsend to have found him. The salon itself is clean and bright … friendly faces greet you at the desk. Loved Stephanie at the salon manager and was very disappointed that she was transferred to another salon. The staff that shampoo and check in with you are all great … Love the massaging chairs — Bonus! Feel like a million bucks when I leave :)

I followed Mary Frangie here from her old salon — I don’t trust my eyebrows to anyone else, especially with only 3 months to my wedding! Ive been going to her for 2 years now, and she’s always been fantastic. I had never had another treatment at her old salon, but I recently had both a facial(with Mary) and a manicure(with Kat) here, and both were great. Very relaxing, comfortable environment, with prices right on par for this part of Boston.

Fabulous spa & fabulous facial by Mary. I love their sister location, Corbu, and will definitely make the trek to this place as often as I can. Knowledgeable, pampering & restorative. All around awesome.

Had a gel manicure here which was a nice treat(had a gift card). The Salon is clean and well lit, and the receptionists were kind and courteous. I’m only giving this three stars because of the following: The gel selection is very limited compared to what you can get with most places(no 100 color«nail rings» to select your color from, just 25 or so on the wall). Also, my manicurist was all business which can be fine but doesn’t make one feel very pampered. Her gel application was«okay» and by that I mean… it has stayed on for 7 days so that is great BUT she didn’t get it close enough to the cuticle at the start so that I would have the ability to even keep it on longer if it did last. Lastly, there was a large tea/coffee maker that I would have been thrilled to an invitation to!

This is my first time coming to Green Tangerine. I was in Boston from out of town and really needed to get my hair and nails done. I recognized the name from seeing it in CT. First, I got an amazing manicure. Absolutely flawless and relaxing. Then I desperately needed a cut and color update. It was my first time getting ombré and Ashley, my stylist, did an absolutely amazing job! I am so happy with it. She was so knowledgeable about the style and my cut is flawless. I would recommend her to anyone and feel like I’ll have to fly back to only have my hair appointments there! Plus there was Prosecco, an added bonus. :) Definitely make an appointment here!

Love this spa!!! I’ve been there a couple if times since it opened and every experience has been wonderful! In the Sheraton, this place is a hidden gem and an oasis of relaxation. I’ve gone there for facials and can honestly say Meredith is amazing! I highly recommend her for facials and she is a master at shaping my unruly brows. I always feel beautiful and relaxed when I leave. Make your appointment and go there now!!!

I was very excited to learn that the awesome nail technician Mirna Heffernan, who for a long time worked on a spa on Newbury Street, is here at Green Tangerine! This review is about her primarily. As usual, Mirna is warm, thoughtful, efficient and skilled, and my manicure and pedicure are flawless. So, I think I’ll like the spa-salon itself, and look forward to getting a massage there in the future. One of the massage therapist came by and introduced herself and gave me her card and a discount coupon. I’ll be back there soon to use that.

My review is mainly about Brian because he is just fabulous and everyone should go see him for their hair care needs. I followed him to this salon from his previous location and he does not disappoint. I received a cut and color today and he made me look like a brand new woman. My hair was styled perfectly and there was not a spot of color left on my face or neck(mind you I color my hair black so I find this to be very impressive). The salon itself is very nicely decorated and the staff was extremely nice. I love the variety of products they offer. A thumbs up to the massage chairs when getting your hair washed. And I am definitely interested in experience a pedicure here one day. Over all I think Brian and the Salon deserves 5 stars! Thank you Brian!

Loved this spa! The front desk staff was so nice and helped me find a great shampoo, and gave me a tour of the facility and were really excited and energetic about it. It’s a beautiful, clean and modern spa with a gorgeous ladies locker room that has everything you could want. I saw Leia for a vitamin c facial, which left me feeling, for the first time ever, like I didn’t need to wear makeup. My skin looked bright and healthy and she gave me so many tips I would have never known about my skin. She’s also a 6th year medical student so she has great information on my skin that no one has ever given me! I also saw Karen for a deep tissue massage and she was wonderful! It was only my second massage ever so she made me feel comfortable and made sure to give me the right pressure I desired. It was heavenly and I came in feeling so tight and left feeling so relaxed!

I have been going to Green Tangerine since they opened. The front desk staff and manager Stephanie are so nice, helpful. I get my haircut from Jessica, she knows exactly how to cut my hair, and she know some cool techniques. Chuck colors my hair and OMG after I get my hair colored the guys are always all over me :) then there is Meredith, she does all my waxing, she is very careful and is very anal, she knows I hate hair LOL. I love going to green tangerine, its my home away from home, I cant wait till my next pampered experience. Nick Dennis

D’onica, was right on. Rude staff. I needed shampoo and conditioner because I was out of town and forgot mine. I walked in, the red head girl at the front desk looked up at me and said nothing. I walked through the store looking at product for at least 10 more minutes. It wasn’t until I had one foot out the door did she ask me if I needed help. No «hello» or greetings just«can I help you?» I was ready to spend money but that lack of service lost their salon $$. On a side note: the selection of product IS good, which is the only reason why they got the second star.
