Yes, the mattresses are amazing. Yes, they are organic and yes, I sink into the mattress like a cloud and yet still feel lifted up in all the right places. Yes, they are handmade. These things are all true. But what sealed the deal for me — the customer service and personal attention I received from Matt, the owner/​operator.
My wife and I (and our toddler) were power mattress shopping. After having a Tempur-​pedic for 13+ years, we wanted something a bit more plush, but we still wanted support. We wanted something made with natural materials and we wanted something that would last. We almost dismissed Hastens because we knew it was a premium product but then we stepped back and realized — wait a minute, we spend a massive amount of our lives sleeping. It is the time to recharge and we try to cheap out on our mattress? Don’t I want to wake up and feel refreshed? So we decided to visit.
It was a busy (and rainy) Saturday afternoon. But Matt took the time to speak to us, to show us the craftmanship of the mattresses and to be kind to two fumbling Moms and their tired toddler. He never pushed a sale. He was truly interested in how we slept, what we were looking for. We had to run to another appointment and returned home to find an email from Matt (I had given him my info to get more info) apologizing for not being able to give us his full attention and inviting us to come back at our convenience. If that wasn’t his full attention, then damn — what was? We took him up on the invitation, after visiting numerous other mattress shops. He stayed a little late in order for us to really get to lie on the mattress, swapped out pillows and amused our 2 year old while we discussed.
After purchasing the mattress, Matt continued to be in close contact to coordinate delivery and even helped us find someone to recycle our old mattress.
And now the mattress — the bed… wow. We purchased the Luxuria model with a thick «pillow topper». This thing is amazing. Hand made springs (with the strength of bridges!), horse hair, wool, organic cotton. It’s amazing. I wake up refreshed. I wake up after 5 hours, feeling like I got a solid 10. My wife is 5 months pregnant and she wakes up without hip pain.
Was it an investment for us? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely.
