Serge has been doing my hair for over 10 years!!! He always manages to exceed my expectations. I walk out of that salon feeling so refreshed and renewed. Everyone at the salon is so welcoming. Although appointments may be recommended they graciously accept walk ins as well. They have complimentary espresso/​cappuccino and Scoozie next door is a great spot for yummy reasonably priced food. I would highly recommend this salon to anyone who wants to look and feel their best!!!

I started going to Safar years ago when I worked on Boylston Street and I loved it. I stopped going for a short period because I no longer work in Boston and I thought I’d try somewhere closer to home. Big mistake. I couldn’t get a decent haircut in the suburbs so I went back to Safar. I went back about 3 years ago and my former stylist wasn’t there any longer, but they hooked me up with an awesome stylist named Tyzza. I tell her all the time that I finally found a stylist who knows exactly how to cut my hair every time. And I get tons of compliments on my style all the time! Even from perfect strangers! My hair used to drive me crazy, but now I love it and it is so easy to style because of Tyzza! She’s a doll, too! Such a great personality and makes me feel comfortable every time I go. She isn’t afraid to suggest something new, either. I’m always happy no matter what she does; starting from my very first style. I highly recommend Tyzza and Safar! It’s well worth the commute!

I have been a client at Safar for 3 and a half years now. I would never go anywhere else! The first time I went there, I randomly walked in with no appt and was accommodated immediately. I was assigned to their stylist, Tyzza and she did such a wonderful job on my hair that I decided to continue going to her. She always knows exactly what to do with my hair without me really even needing to explain too much, whether it’s color, cut, or updo. I’ve had other stylists when Tyzza has not been available and it has always been a positive experience. The owner, Serge Safar is very professional, skilled and experienced– overall a great person. When I go to Safar I feel like I am at my second home. I’m Always welcomed and offered a cappuccino. Absolutely love it here, and everyone who works here!

I wish I could give 0 stars for this salon because of the disturbing things I observed while there. I NEVER write negative reviews unless I am horrified by a business and feel that others will benefit from a warning. I suppose I will start with the worst part of all, the owner. I unfortunately witnessed TWO accounts of sexual harassment toward the female employees on behalf of the owner and I could tell that these women were extremely uncomfortable while it was happening. He was very touchy feely, requesting kisses from them while they were working, caressing their hands and being a little too close for comfort in general. My skin was crawling. I was actually willing to brush this aside (looking back, I should have reported this immediately) until I spoke with the owner on the phone when I called to discuss the voucher deal I purchased. I spoke to the receptionist at first and then she put the owner on the phone. Without asking me to explain what I was even calling about, he started shouting at me, called me CHEAP, told me to stop complaining, and said I don’t have to come back if I didn’t like something about my experience. I was so caught off guard by this behavior that I didn’t bother to even explain what I was actually trying to say and just wanted to end the abusive conversation as soon as possible. In addition this disgusting man, my very sweet (but inexperienced) junior stylist was told that she had to move because another stylist needed her seat. So in the middle of my haircut, we had to look around for an open seat in another room. Then a different stylist came over to do her makeup in the mirror while my hair was being done. It was an extremely odd experience and I am normally VERY forgiving. I feel bad for the people who are actually decent humans who work there, because some of them were nice and talented.

Lia is a goddess with color — I am as picky as it gets with my hair (long, thick, dark brown, wavy) and she has done lighter and darker highlights on me that have come out amazing. By far the best as it gets with dark haired color. She also did a fabulous keratin treatment for the summer that cut down my blow dry time in half. Tanya upstairs also does fast, clean waxes. Love it!

$ 40.00 for a pedicure that lasted 20 minutes ! Terrible customer service. Took a walk in before me as I walked in for my appointment. Tanya is awful

Stylist did not listen to what I wanted and cut my hair so short in a terrible style. It was a disaster. Three weeks later, it is growing out a little bit but just awful. Will never go again. I highly don’t recommend it.

Stylist did not listen to what was requested and insisted on cutting his way– the haircut was a Gilt City purchase and should be able to have input when going for a haircut– I now have to have it fixed elsewhere

I bought a gilt coupon for a full foil/​ombré, haircut and blowout a few months back. I visited the salon last night and couldn’t be happier with my experience. Jordan is absolutely AMAZING!!! I showed her a picture of the ombré look I wanted and she gave me exactly what I asked for but also gave me great suggestions that I really appreciated. The cut is wonderful and the color is perfect! And to top it all off she is a sweetheart! I am so picky when it comes to my hair. I’m never happy with the way it looks but after seeing Jordan I love my hair so much!!! I feel like a million bucks! Thank you Jordan for giving me a fabulous look! I will definitely recommend her to everyone!

Make sure you specify who you want. Had a walk in after losing my previous hairdresser and was thrown the junior. She was pleasant but just never really listened to my answer when asked what I wanted and so the result was pretty ordinary. I went away with wet hair, bogged together with some product and was too embarrassed to grab a coffee straight after because of how I looked. It’s the little things that count. There needs to be better QC on the juniors.

Came here a week ago for a keratin treatment and a trim, came out with completely transformed hair. I also got my hair dyed on a whim, as both my coiffure and I thought it’s better to cover up my ashy highlights. My hairdresser helped me pick a colour and I was not disappointed. I’m so in love with my hair!!! And that’s coming from someone who’s had two whole years of bad haircuts and hair colours!!!

Recently went to Safar to get a trim. I hadn’t been there in a while, because I had been away at college for some time, but was delighted with the haircut I walked away with upon my return.
I saw Horacio and he did an excellent job with my hair. He really knew what he was doing and was extremely on point with regards to tending to my needs. Overall, great experience. I will be going there again!

Saul Orozco is the best! He has the «wow factor.» I looked at myself in the mirror after he cut and styled my hair and said WOW! I’m usually picky when it comes to hairstyles but Saul went above and beyond my expectations. Thank you for making this client feel like a princess! I’ll definitely go back to Safar the next time I visit Boston.

I am a multi tonal blonde and I have gone to several places to get «the perfect blonde» which I thought was unattainable until now. It looks shiny, vibrant, multi-​dimensional and natural. I am never going anywhere else, she exceeded my expectations tremendously. Also, the way she did the foils allows me to wear my hair up without it looking funny which is perfect for me
To make it even better, I got styled immediatly after for my Friday night out, and another stylist did my blow out and curled my hair with an iron. Omid is his name, and not only is he amazingly creative and talented, but he made it a really fun experience. I am coming back to him anytime I want to get glammed up for any sort of special event.
Overall, I was impressed with the Sarar staff, the salon is beautiful and my hair has never looked better, I highly reccomend

I heard a lot about Haracio so I wanted to have my hair done by him. My hair look like I got a hair cut in Paris.
He is professional nice and friendly. I liked the way he work he ask questions to know what kind of personality you have to go from there, he pays attention to details he took his time to give me an excellent result.
He was also generous about giving me advices about hair color, highlight, and the best products in the market.
Hi is not the kind of hair stylist who just care about making money, he really cares about your hair and style. I highly recommend him.

Safar is an incredible salon. From the moment you walk in, to the moment you leave, it is top notch service. The hustle and bustle is fantastic, the people are very accommodating and they even have an espresso bar :)
However, for me, the reason why my rating Is 5 stars if 110% because of my stylist, Omid Maxey. He is an true artist when it comes to styling hair but even more importantly, he has a heart of gold. I was in a pinch about 2 weeks before my wedding in December ’13 when my hair dresser of 10+ years could no longer style my hair. Omid came highly recommended and honestly, it was one of those tough situation that turned into an absolute blessing. He did a BEAUTIFUL job with all of our hair (3 bridesmaids, both mothers and myself). We had so much fun getting ready and it was incredibly relaxed. I took outdoor, snowy pictures — he bravely ran around with my husband and I in the snow! He then fixed my hair up and stayed with me until seconds before I walked down the aisle.
I will also say that Omid has become a friend and has surpassed his role as a hair dresser when he has graciously helped a close friend in need. I do not have enough good things to say about Omid! Whether you’re looking for wedding hair or simply a hair cut, he will make you feel absolutely gorgeous!

I can’t believe I have never reviewed this place! I have been coming here since I was a freshman in college over ten years ago. Have I strayed? Yes, and always come back with my tail between my legs asking them to fix the horrendous result of a groupon, gilt city or living social adventure. Just don’t save ten bucks by buying a coupon haircut only to wait till it grows out to get the cut you really wanted!
I swear by Andy, he is my friends, sisters & My go-​to guy. (Straight, maybe fine, slightly wavy hair).
Others friends with curly, thick or course hair swear by Jude.
Not sure if she is still there but Julie up on the 3^rd floor gave me the most amazing highlights I have ever gotten!
The cappuccinos to wake you up mid afternoon whilst coming out beautiful are an amazing bonus!

I was a walk in and there was a teensy bit of a wait. The receptionist was really sweet and asked if I needed anything (they will make you cappuccino).
But… The real treat was that I got Olti as my stylist. He not only have me a great haircut, he took his time and gave me a nice and polished look. I’m totally going back.
