Never have i been so disrespected! The bar tenderers are rude and unresponsive. I asked for a group of shots for a friends going away and he was rude and very slow. After poor service my bill was thrown in my face(literally) and when I didn’t approve of the service he told me «you should keep this, you need it more». I too work in the restaurant business and i would never expect patrons to visit again with the lack of respect and professionalism that I experienced. With the amount of bars in Boston Im surprised that the last drop has gotten away with their rude and disrespectful demeanor! I will never go there again and I will definitely spread the word! I have lived in and around Boston for 15 years and never have I received this lack of respect! Im surprised that this establishment is still around!

Sadly, The Last Drop is being replaced with The Corner Tavern. Anyone know if they’ll still have the BAGS arcade game?

College bar through and through — but for someone who was a freshman 20 years ago(CHOKE, COUGH, DIE)…it still isn’t a bad place for a pint. But that’s about it. Because then the patrons who were born AFTERMTV first went on the air show up — and look at the dirty old man throwing darts(me). oh you know the look… Golly, it’s 9:00 — ok, leaving — but happy I came. Night.

A seasoned watering hole for those who are always on the lookout for something out of the ordinary — that’s what The Last Drop is for me. It’s a great place to kick back and relax with a bunch of people, and the bartenders definitely know their stuff. Funny story — we were hanging out there late one afternoon, drinking one of their five beers on tap and listening to random songs on the jukebox. Suddenly, our bartender came over and told us to quiet down because of an executive meeting being held in the back of the bar. .. in exchange for a free shot. Of course, we said, SURE, although I wasn’t quite sure how giving us more alcohol would quiet us down. Bartender came back two minutes later with a delicious kahlua-laced whipped cream dream, which we all downed in a few seconds. Long story short — the Drop is a great place to be, whether you’re stumbling in after a long night of barhopping, or just looking for a place to drink.

We rolled into the Last Drop after closing out a bar at 1 and closed down this one at 2. I had a UFO as I wasn’t feeling the other beers. I would have had a Guinness if they still had the really cheap price($ 3 or so) that they used to. I wish they had a bigger tap selection. I waited in line for the bathroom behind a girl who got the real bathroom confused with the closet. There’s a dart board and an arcade game where you through bean bag through a hole in the ramp. My friend said the game was probably a metaphor for something. There were some amusing drunk guys who I failed at getting to buy me a drink. However, I helped him to text his booty call and convince her to let him come over. Good times were had by all.

WHOA. Some out-of-town friends, a seasoned local, and two Boston newbies stumbled on in to the Last Drop last evening(or, more appropriately, very early this morning!) on a mission for a very specific, special drink — one that is not just difficult to find, but even more difficult to request. This sounds like a really great set up to a bad joke(a rabbi, a chicken, and a duck walk into the bar…) but alas, this is the real deal. I think the first words I muttered when I found myself sitting at the end of the long bar in the very dark, musty room were, «where the hell are we?» Apparently even the seasoned local had never made his way here, in ten years, and had always wanted to try. We placed our orders for the Drink You Are Not Supposed to Order and within a minute, every one of us had finished it. Our bartender took exquisite care of us. Dominic, my hat goes off to you. Even though I don’t wear hats. If I had a hat, I’d just hand it to you. You kept us laughing and hydrated and although when I woke up today, I had no recollection of most of my evening, I do remember you and how great the Last Drop was.

So I just heard that they are planning to add a kitchen and serve a limited menu here. Interesting!

It’s amazing how many Boston bars a guy can go to before he finally finds one worth labeling ‘an authentic Beantown watering hole’. Friends, I’ve found the white whale. Following a few rounds(enough for a buzz but far short of being blitzed) at a fundraiser thrown by soon-to-be marathoners at Lir, the roommates and I headed to The Last Drop to join in the celebration of a friend’s birthday. That guy’s getting old. Had to be about 11:00 but — thankfully — there wasn’t a line. That could be attributed to(a) The Last Drop not being a happenin’ hot-spot or(b) the willingness of the powers-that-be to pack patrons in well beyond what would seem reasonable. Now, we all rate bars on different scales and while weighing different factors. Unfamiliar with Rune’s standards? He wants lightning-quick service, a strong f: m ratio, clean water closets and out-dated music played at a reasonable volume. The service was solid. You could tell, immediately, that the bartenders had their salt. There wasn’t an intriguing gin or rum on the top of the shelf but that’s to be expected. There was a decided dearth of beautiful babies, as evidenced by the end of the night deteriorating to a discussion of foreskin and scarf-tying techniques with an off-limits Kelly Clarkson doppleganger. Even so, there had to at least one doll for every guy and that’s a start. The loo? Not pretty. ‘Twas a one-man can with a functional lock but short a sanitation and soured by having to wait five or six minutes while another birthday boy was plowing his b-day present. Yes, I was jealous of the icing on his face and the shit-eating grin. The music was decent. I was able to converse with my people and sell a few tickets to an upcoming benefit performance. The most enjoyed part of The Last Drop, though, has to be the generally congenial atmosphere. There was very little of the gamesmanship often found around the city. The unacquainted played competitive yet civil games of darts and men calmly took turns hitting on the out-of-place Taiwanese hottie in the evening gown. To no avail. She was waiting for me to make my move but I’d extinguished the Yellow Fever and wouldn’t give her the satisfaction … I’ve digressed. Great place to hang out with a group of friends and not worry too much about your hair.

This is a dark, pretty small bar but I like the ambiance. It’s usually very quiet and mellow, so I don’t think I would go here on a weekend, but for a few quiet drinks it’s not a bad spot. I appreciate the naked photo hunt most of all.

Good little garden level bar with a classic Boston feel that I probably would’ve overlooked if I didn’t live in the area. With only 5 beers on tap, this is an easy place to «Ride the Rails»(a.k.a. drink one of every beer on draught) as my friends were inspired to do this afternoon, though I stuck to the $ 2.50 High Life bottles and free cheddar goldfish(available on request). It’s relatively cozy, but they have 2 dart boards, a Bags machine, and Photo Hunt, though it’s not my favorite version – too x-rated and minus the cheesy photos circa 1995. I wouldn’t make it a weekend night destination, but to grab a few afternoon or weeknight beers, it does just fine.

I don’t care if it’s crowded, loud, and messy… the Drop is a great example of a neighborhood bar that hasn’t been«upscaled.» Going in is like turning back the clock 10 years. The bad thing is that I used to get into more trouble 10 years ago, but that’s one of the fun things about it.

We were only here for a short time last night. Upon walking in, we were overcome with this wretched smell, a mix of «old bar» and vomit. I have NO idea what was going on, even the other people in our group who frequent the place said it was never like that. But it was nasty. It does seem like a fun, non-touristy place to hang out, so I can understand why people go there. It’s not trendy, or jammed with spiky-haired, Diesel-wearing metros. There’s no 10 minute wait for a drink, and there are darts. Darts! That alone will make me want to go back.

good place to go if you get there early– the bartenders will treat you right before the place turns into a mob scene at 11p.m. as others have said there’s nothing too remarkable about the place, although it does have darts which is a bonus for my fiancé. and, triple bonus points for being located across from despinas, a great late night drunk munchies stop.

Many a nights have been spent at The Last Drop. I went mostly right after college when I moved to Boston so I was doing the whole singles thing(which worked pretty well back then)… but it’s definitely still an old reliable in the Back Bay for me and G to go and get drinks. Just like other people have said, it’s not divey, not trendy, just really relaxed and a great place to go and get some drinks. Oh and we always stumble into Despina’s after leaving to get the best chicken cutlet sub in the city.

Went here on a Saturday night expecting a pretty laid back bar: It is anything but laid back. I don’t mind loud music but this music was blaring. You couldn’t even carry a conversation. We asked if they could turn it down just a tad, they ignored us. Which is fine, it’s their bar they can do whatever they want. We decided to leave and go back to a friends apartment to keep drinking, on the way out we noticed a pretty large line just to get in to this place. Service is below average: wait time for a beer is about 5 minutes. The prices are average I guess but I will not be going back.

There really are no words to describe it… it’s not yuppy, it’s not divey, it’s not chic or trendy, it’s just… comfortable. It might be my favorite bar if I lived in boston.

Great bar to chat & meet people. It’s even better now that you can’t smoke inside. Wonderful bartenders & great location.
