Autumn Chase

Lived here for two years. Had a roach problem for over half the time. Manager was more concerned with smoking cigarettes outside than doing her job. Lots of unattended kids who leave bikes and toys all over the sidewalk. Rent is reasonable however when you move out, plan on being nickled and dimed for everything!

Update to my last review. The manager is really great, and the current maintenance man is also a really great guy (the old maintenance man was a real burned out jerk). They are both responsive and quick to address any issues. They both do great work and care about the complex. We’re paying around $ 1300.00 for a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom place with vaulted ceilings and a one car garage. I’d say its a good deal, but recently that seems to have changed.
We loved this place the last 3 years but we (and many other residents) feel the community has gone downhill lately. We’ve seen a 35% increase in new Autumn Chase low income residents (section 8) this year. They used to only accept very few, and this kept the troublemakers/​crazies out.
A year ago a new section-​8 (the entire 400+ unit building is low income housing…) apartment (Willow Tree Grove) has been built next door (south of the location); and its got a large population of jerks (who make trouble sometimes) and rude kids that jump the fence and yell @ 2am. They seem to have no issues with breaking their own smoking/​parking rules. I observed the Safeway down the road has added 3 – 4 doorway security cameras after Willow Tree Grove was built (increased shop lifting).
I don’t blame the Autumn Chase management for new neighboring buildings that are filled with low income «jerk» residents. The challenge is the Autumn Chase complex is between Willow Tree Grove (entirely low income housing — 300+ units), and the North Creek Apartments (partly low income housing). This means everyone walks through the Autumn Chase grounds to «cut-​through» instead of walking around on the road. Autumn chase does have a gated fence (locked past quiet hours), that does help cut down some of the cut-​through traffic. Ironically during the summer almost every night we see kids yelling and jumping the fence long past quiet hours. Asking nicely or sternly several times does not seem to get the message across — 99% of the time its the «troubled» looking kids.
This year I’ve observed a 35% increase in crime and vandalism (spray paint); and very rude kids that either loiter or deface the property/​jump the fence and yell @ 2am (95% of the time these kids are from another neighboring section 8 apartment complex). We have also seen several attempted apartment and vehicle break ins this year, a big increase since last year. We’ve had to play referee several times to keep loitering/​fighting neighbor kids out of the property (called police once, tell them off or challenge them if they are being jerks). We’re tired of playing parent just to get a quiet night of sleep without noise and kids loitering and yelling outside our place.
Parking can be annoying sometimes if you have packages/​groceries or hate spending a few minutes walking every day. You’re only allowed a single garage parking spot for a 3 bedroom apartment. Single/​two bedroom renters get one dedicated parking spot but no garage. You can’t pay for another dedicated parking spot last time I checked. Most people share the «free» parking slots; because a large % of families have two cars. There is usually enough parking to go around, but you often have to «compete» for a free parking location that is close to your apartment. If someone has a large party or event at the gym — finding parking close to your apartment can be very difficult.
Overall we feel the increased crime and «section 8/​bad people» sours the neighborhood/​community — especially when you’re raising children. When we see the numbers of Autumn Chase section 8/​bad people residents rising — we know this means increased crime/​vandalism/​apartment break-​ins. It’s all in the low income bell curve. Autumn Chase used to only allow a low % of section 8 residents, but with the increased move in numbers (increasingly people moving in who lived at the next door ghetto — Willow Tree Grove) we don’t feel this is a good thing for the community, especially if want safe and friendly/​drama free neighbors.

Living here since 2004 and loving it. I moved from a 1 bedroom bachlorette pad to my 3 bedroom unit for my new family and love it even more! Staff live on site, security is great, very clean and friendly place to live!
