Fusion Hot Yoga

I have never been a huge hot yoga fan after trying numerous studios around the eastside. After two back surgeries by the age of 30 I knew that the needed to change up my approach to fitness. Moving to Bothell 3 years ago a friend of mine insisted I go to Fusion. She was right and the rest is history. There is nothing better for my back and overall wellness than a 90 minute Hatha session. The instructors are all top notch and you feel like your part of a family right when you walk in. Proud to call this home and not surprised by the growing clientele and rave reviews. Thanks especially to Jeni and Jason for always making sure I’m working hard :)

This is a phenomenal studio. I cannot imagine practicing anywhere else. I’ve been taking classes here for almost four years. The benefits have been absolutely amazing. I appreciate the teachers and the community of other students there. This place has truly become a second home to me. If you’ve never tried hot yoga before or if you’ve been practicing for years, I would definitely recommend checking it out.

I attended fusion hot yoga for one month on a Groupon, almost all hatha classes, one vinyasa and one yin. It was more than worth it, I felt really good every day and felt myself improve drastically. I only wish I could afford to continue going – it’s out of my price range.
Pros:
–the room. It’s big and hot and lots of mirrors.
–the online schedule. They are on top of it.
–the «points.» I’m not sure what I’m going to do with mine, but I loved getting the emails after each class. It was like a little acknowledgement for going to class.
–They are really good at welcoming and accepting new students. If there is a brand new student in any class, the teacher will explain things more in that class, so that the new person can pick it up
–All of the hatha classes are almost completely cookie cutter, no matter who’s teaching. I can hear in my head any one of them saying «your standing leg is solid, concrete, like a lamppost.» It’s clear to me they went through the same rigorous training. I really appreciated this consistency because it helped me stay focused on improving in each posture. BUT, each teacher still offers their own spin on it, tips, and advice. Try this to stay in this pose, focus more on this. The variety of tips I got in hatha really helped me improve
–They DO push you. I have seen other negative reviews about this from people who don’t want to be told that feeling dizzy is good, and to push through the pain. I’m sorry, if you think «they told me pain is good» and push yourself so hard you get injured, that is your own fault. No one is the master of your own body but you, and if you don’t know that you’re supposed to listen to your own body, you shouldn’t be doing yoga in the first place. I am not a really experienced yogi – that’s just common sense. I thought it was awesome that they push you. That’s why I go to a class instead of doing yoga at my home. I want someone who knows what they’re talking about to whip me into shape and not let me slack off.
–On the flip side, they do practice and encourage positive self-​talk and inner thoughts. Some instructors are bigger on this than others, but they preach self-​love. It’s nice to hear that stuff cause with our busy work lives we can forget.
–Every instructor really cares that each and every person is trying. After they learn your name they will call you out by name to offer praise on your form or tips for a better posture. They notice your progress and they hang out in the same locker room as you and will tell you how good you’re doing.
–a lot of the regulars there are really nice. There is a great sense of community and family.
CONS
–I only took one morning class (6:30 am) while I was there, so this may not be indicative of all of them, but I was kicked out of the locker room afterward without enough time to finish getting ready. I thought it would be fairly common/​obvious that people might be getting ready for work there, but I was told «we are open for half an hour before and after each class» and had to finish getting ready in my car. I don’t enjoy looking like crap at work, so unfortunately I avoided all morning classes after that.
–The instructors could be a little better about keeping the excited Vinyasa people at bay a little longer outside the room when the hatha class is ending. They could get pretty loud out there and it was kinda distracting during the most peaceful part of the hatha experience.
–I think they have outgrown their locker room. But that just means they’re doing well, I guess!
Overall it was a really good experience, I would recommend it to anyone, and I wish I could keep going there.

I have been doing yoga for 8 years and this, by far might be a top fav.
I love the challenge, the strong verbal instructing and the family feel here. The staff is really sweet, especially Jeni (who also assists in Jason’s night classes.) She went around and adjusted everyone — Jason quite possibly could have been one my favorite instructors ever. He has built a lot of rapport — people trust him, respect him and keep coming back for more. I felt like it was way more than a yoga class. I felt strong leaving, mentally, physically and emotionally. I’m a huge fan of this place. The only thing I dont like is it’s hard to get back to the freeway once you leave the parking lot… and the changing room is small. but that’s small potatoes compared to the music, teaching, classes, price, instructors, etc. I have told many people about this place already. They’re doing something right for sure!!!

Friendly staff, clean, nice locker rooms and spacious studio. Revolving door of teachers all very different. Inconsistent class schedule with teachers IF you do find one you like. Didn’t enjoy one particular make teacher with a boot camp style for 60 min Hatha. They also turn the lights off and on during class. why? Ruins the focused stretch I’m going for. Also told to do the poses even if you can’t, even if your dizzy apparently? Made to feel bad if you want to lie down to gain composure. Teacher had a preacher style way of teaching and contradicted himself a lot, more concerned about hearing himself talk… loudly even for 10 min or more at start of class to a student .not my taste for yoga.

I must qualify this by saying that this was my one and only hot yoga class, and I won’t be back — the heat was not for me. Now, set that aside. I’ll just review the studio and my experience there.
First off — the front desk staff person was friendly and welcoming. The lobby and locker room were clean, and they provide lockers (and locks!) which is great.
Walking into the studio from the lobby, you’re basically walking into a sauna. Before class started, the new folks were told to do our best not to leave the room — if we couldn’t manage to do the full workout in the heat, we were to lay on our mats and breathe. That was red flag number one for me. Heat stroke is a real thing, and people shouldn’t feel restricted from heading out the door if they really need to. I did end up doing the lay and breath thing for the last 10 minutes or so. Laying in the heat was great — all of my muscles just melted. I can see why folks like hot yoga. Personally, I would be all for a hot-​yoga mediation class, but the full on vinyasa sequence was a bit much for me. :)
The studio space itself is large — the instructor area is up front on a platform, and I imagine that when an instructor uses it, it’d be easy to see the demonstrations. During the particular class I took, the instructor walked around the front and was more or less invisible from my place at the edge of the second row. She had a headset, which helped with following cues, but it would have been nice to see more demonstrations.
Before class, I’d checked in with the instructor to discuss my physical limitations (I was recovering from a shoulder injury) and warned her I’d probably be modifying a lot of the arm poses. She said great, no problem, thanks for sharing. She then proceeded to call me out all through class for doing poses «wrong.» It got annoying really fast. I wasn’t the only one she called out either — she kept telling us all to «push, push, push through the pain!» Um, pain is a warning sign. A low level is expected when you work out, but one should never be encouraged to push through actual pain. That’s how you get injured. I did finally tell her, firmly, to back off — I was doing what I could and anything more would cause further injury. She left me alone after that, but the whole experience was awkward and weird.
Bottom line — the studio space itself is great, but I can’t get behind a yoga class that encourages folks to push themselves beyond their endurance. For me, this wasn’t a true yoga experience — it felt more like a boot-​camp class.

How is it possible that I’ve never reviewed my home yoga studio?!
When my original yoga studio (Bikram yoga Redmond) closed, I needed a new studio that served heat, passion, and challenges: Hello Fusion! The owner, Jason, was my first teacher at Bikram yoga Redmond, and I loved his energy, inspiration, and enthusiasm.
Fusion has hatha (Bikram series) and power vinyssa classes throughout the day. The teachers are kind, knowledgeable, challenging yet friendly. The studio, it self, is clean, fresh, and HOT! Most of all: I love the community at Fusion. All other yogis are definitely open and welcoming as well.
Thank you Jason for opening Fusion and giving the gift of yoga to everyone!

I completely agree with another reviewer who had concerns about one of the teachers. I had the same experience. I’ve done yoga for 15 years in four different cities including hatha, power, and anusara, and I have never had a teacher tell me «it’s supposed to hurt,» ESPECIALLY during a backbend! I’ve never had a teacher say «You’re supposed to feel dizzy» and I’ve never had a teacher tell me repeatedly to lock my knees. I’ve never had a teacher call side-​angle (parsvakonasana) pose «triangle pose» or savasana «dead body pose.» I’ve also never had a teacher repeatedly move me quickly from stomach-​lying savasana to standing poses about 20 times during the class. … UNTIL I took a class at Fusion Hot Yoga.
Perhaps some of these are elements of Bikram that I’m not familiar with, but this particular teacher shows not only a lack of knowledge of yoga principles but also the capacity to seriously injure a student. I did have two classes by other teachers at this studio that were okay, but during one class it was far too hot and as someone with low blood pressure I became dizzy and couldn’t participate for about a third of the class.
For two out of three classes I went to at this studio, I left feeling WORSE than when I arrived. There may be some good teachers here, and people who are gym rats and love to sweat might enjoy the atmosphere, but any studio who would employ a teacher like the one who told me «it’s supposed to hurt» is not a studio I will take my business to.

I love this studio. It’s clean, the instructors are awesome, there’s several classes thru out the day and it’s close to home. They have exceeded everything I look for in a yoga studio.
Couple things that might be a concern for new students:
*Some classes can get pretty packed but the instructors utilize the opportunity to do team excersizes or encourage you to get to know neighbor which is kinda cool.
*It can be a little pricey if you’re buying individual classes but the packages are super affordable.
I was reading thru these reviews and I have to say that I was absolutely disgusted that someone would write a negative review in regards to a yogis physical appearance. Who does that? I’ve taken enough classes that I think I’ve had the pleasure of practicing with almost every instructor and everyone of them is an inspiration. Yoga isn’t about thigh gaps it’s about creating a stronger mental & physical version of yourself. I’ve been super happy here. Thanks Fusion!

Through Groupon and other discounts, I spent the last year trying out all hot yoga studios north of Bellevue, south of Mill Creek. Fusion remains my favorite. My basic requirements are 1) showers (not all have), 2) non-​carpet floor (sensitive to smells) and 3) ample heat *and* moisture (some have poor humidifiers). What I like Fusion the most is that I do not feel out of breath. At most other places the instructor has to open the door to let fresh air in. Fusion must have an air exchange system to do that. I feel more refreshed and with no headaches after class. On top of these, ample parking, bright studio, quick highway access and lockable lockers set this studio apart. It might sound like I’m doing a commercial for Fusion but I think this place has the full package. In terms of instructors, each one has his/​her style. You just have to find the one (s) you like.

I LOVE this studio. Almost 2 years ago, I lacked strength, muscle tone, and energy since I was recovering from a large surgery. My doctor and good friend told me to look into yoga. I never really thought yoga was for me but gave it a try. I bought several Groupons. I didn’t feel a connection with the first two studios i tried. I found Fusion Hot Yoga. Third time’s the charm. It became a place of both refuge, transformation, and healing. I’m stronger and more both mentally and physically. The instructors are so supportive and authentic. You can be at an level from novice to veteran, young or old, there is something for everyone. They offer kids yoga and teen yoga too! This place is my second home and I’m so blessed to have found it!

I wanted to like this place because of all the good reviews, but this place just isn’t for me. There are plenty of serious yogis here, so there must be something that they like about it, but I will not be returning after leaving my first and only class angry and not at peace. I have been doing hot yoga for about 2 years now, having visited 4 other studios around the downtown Seattle and Bothell area. This studio definitely stands out and is different, but for all the wrong reasons.
THE GOOD: clean studio, lockers with lock and key provided, showers and bathroom were also clean. Towels and mats available to rent or buy. Soft, padded floors. No strange smell. $ 20 gets you unlimited 2 weeks for new students. Lastly, the instructor is pretty nice. She asked a couple times to remind her what my name is. She’s definitely enthusiastic about being a teacher but imagine an aerobics or crossfit instructor teaching yoga. Yeah.
THE NEUTRAL: it’s hotter than other studios I’ve been to. I actually like it, but others may not. The lights are on the entire time. Very fast-​paced. I’m not a beginner and it felt rushed for the entire 90 minutes. Every single pose on the floor is followed by Savasana (up, down, up, down, for 30 minutes. No wonder I got dizzy). It sounded like she was reading from a book instead of guiding us through the session. No relaxing music during class — just her loud voice. The instructor often claps and she drills you through the use of a microphone — all of these things were very distracting to me. She uses the microphone to speak over the two humidifiers in the back of the room. My ears are still ringing hours after the technical difficulties they were having from the sound system.
THE BAD: No modifications. What?! I was feeling a little dizzy so I took to child’s pose while the class was told to do rabbit’s pose. The instructor comes up to me and says «I don’t know why you feel the need to modify (any professional yoga instructor can list 20 reasons why I was in child’s pose), but there are no modifications in this class. If that’s a problem, you can talk to me after class». Um, I’m sorry, I didn’t know school was in session! It’s more disruptive to the class if you stop to reprimand someone instead of letting them do their thing. If there are rules (not etiquette), then please list them on your website or discuss them quickly at the beginning of the class. Every single class I have been to begins with the supportive «take a break whenever you need to. Savasana and child’s pose are great neutral poses». And modifications are encouraged! I will push myself to my own limits because I know what they are, thank you very much. I’m not going to ask for your permission every time my foot hurts from plantar fasciitis or when I feel dizzy. She even tells the class that feeling dizzy is a good thing! What?! No. Oh, and she even had her phone and checked her texts during class and told us not to look!!! Ridiculous. I’m glad this was not my first hot yoga experience because I know what a relaxing yet challenging class should be like. I know that I am looking for a more supportive, calming environment and I know that I will not find it here.

I would give Fusion Hot Yoga five stars, but I come here for the 60-​minute condensed Bikram class and there is one instructor that routinely goes over by at least 10 minutes every time. Otherwise, it is a great yoga studio.

I’ll make this short and sweet — fusion hot yoga is the best studio I have ever been to. The studio is clean and has the most friendly teachers ever. This place has such a strong loving and welcoming sense of community that I have never experienced anywhere else. I recommend this studio to everyone I know…

I was in love with this studio from day 1. I have been going to this Yoga studio in last 2 years after trying many different yoga place in Seattle. This place is just absolutely amazing. They have the best of the best yoga instructors who are Masterpeace. They bring passion, love and lots of joys to yoga class. The energy in this studio is incredible amazing. I also love people who come here to practise yoga as well. They are just so friendly and open mind. This studio also does a lots of fun things like 30 days challenging, work-​shop and etc. Last but not least, the whole facility is ALWAYS SUPER CLEAN AND NICE (From floor, changing room, showers, etc…)

First and foremost The energy in this studio is wonderful. The classes are full and the students all seem eager to focus on the practice. I love the fact that they offer different classes as a combo of Hatha and Power makes for great balance. I LOVE the late 60 minute class as I work a long day and that makes it easy for me to make it. The floor in the studio is perfect for yoga, not too hard, not too soft and (unlike a carpeted room) the air is clean, easy to breath. I think the heating system is perfect for this style of yoga. The instructors are TOP NOTCH and you can tell they really have a passion for what they are teaching.

I’ve been practicing hot yoga for 11 years, and I’ve tried all the studios around. this is the BEST hot yoga studio in the area. Best facility, super easy to get to cause its right off the freeway, the sweetest husband/​wife owners, tons of free parking, water fountain, showers, great heat/​ventilation system so your sweating but you can breathe, they offer both hatha (Bikram) and Power Vinyasa (flow) styles so you get some variety. The hatha is 26 postures, each pose done twice with a little rest in between, its great start for beginners. The Vinyasa is more of a flow with ab work, push ups, fun music, etc. its more strength building than the hatha. Offering the two styles is smart because they compliment each other really well and if you practice both you don’t have to do any other type of workout!
They have rubber floor that’s cleaned daily. (The facility is always super clean) The instructors are the best around in my opinion, each one brings a different approach/​flavor to the class. I read a few other review where people were complaining about the instructor using a headset/​mic and I totally disagree… I love that they do because between the white noise from the humidifiers and the music, it makes it easy to hear the instructions from the teacher. I’ve practiced at several studios where they didn’t use a headset and I honestly could hardly hear the teacher, it made me feel disconnected from the class and confused as to what I should be doing. I also read a review on here where someone commented they thought it was weird the teacher didn’t do the poses with everybody as they taught. I have to say, have you ever tried talking for 90 minutes straight, in a 100 degree room, while paying attention to students form, the heat/​humidity AND doing vigorous exercise? Its a little much. There’s no way the instructor could do the class with everyone in the and be a very effective teacher, they’d be totally out of breath! Having them walk around and help ppl, tell us what to do and give corrections, versus doing the class and being out of breath is much more effective. Plus there at least 20 other people to watch for visual guidance.
They have a $ 20 for 2 weeks intro deal, try it! Its the BEST STUDIO!

The people at the front desk assume you know everything so if you do you’ll be fine, if you don’t, then they’re not helpful at all. They will chat with their friends and let you wait until their done. That’s fantastic customer service… not really.
The showers are small, the changing area is awkward, and the bathrooms are not private at all.
The actual yoga classes are for people who already know the moves and the flows. If you’re new or getting back into it. Good luck. Also, the room could have been hotter. It’s not that hot. I’ve been to way better. The instructor that was teaching one of the classes said the names of the moves wrong and honestly… I didn’t have fun. The room is too small and there are tooo many people crammed into one room. The hours are great but if you need a beginner yoga class, either because you are a beginner or because of injuries… forget it. There are better places.

I love the hatha and vinyasa classes. The teachers are energetic and friendly.
The best part is: the floors are rubber! Some studios have carpets, and those carpets smell horrible during the course of the day.
The only thing missing is more «fusion» classes, i.e., the classes which combine Yoga with «not Yoga», such as pull ups.
