Im surprised i have not reviewed this place. Maybe i have but it didn’t post cause my internet n phone are bugging. Anyhow I’ve been here at least 3 or 4 times in the last 10 months or so. This is a general overall collective review from all the visits. This place has very flavorful food. Hence the last dinner visit i wanted to get every drop of that sauce of my Camarones Mojo de Ajo. They put a tomato base which im not used to, but after the first couple bites of deliciousness, i didn’t care, it was superty duperty good. The time before that i grabbed a meal in the bar midweek midday just in time for happy hour. Nice bar regulars there. I dont remember what i ate, probably cause the margarita was the highlight of my visit. It was cold, tasty, slighty sweet, refreshing, and i didn’t taste the alcohol tho i was relaxed, tingly, and giggly. The server/bartender in the bar was on the ball. In both dinner visits in the dining room, the female hostess seemed very confused and unsure, probably due to a language barrier and being young and fairly new. She would have to run back and ask her busy server/manager questions. I like this place overall and i like to take my time and enjoy my meal. I’ve moved away from the area but will try to visit during the summer during karaōke nights when the outdoor patio is open.

Never ate here but was treated very badly. I stopped in two weeks ago and made reservations for 20 people, I spoke with the employee quite awhile about what we needed and I was told no problem. I called a few times to confirm reservation and never got anyone. Finally the night before they answered and a male employee told me that since I gave him no money he gave the room to another party. We were never told that we needed a deposit and they never called me to ask if I still wanted the room or to let me know they let it go. He also told he he could care less if I wrote this post so I am. Very bad customer service.

Ok service not great. Seemed a little dirty. Lots of flies in the women’s bathroom. Outside patio area nice when it’s sunny. Food bland won’t go back too many other choices nearby.

Sign said wait to be seated, no one came. We made our way to the bar area where we were told to sit anywhere. We sat at the patio. No one came. We walked out. The place was not busy, 4 tables.

Had a wonderful experience at Gallo De Oro. I had their shrimp and beef carneasada, fish taco, beef burrito. Everything was very tasty and their outside terrace was beautiful. Service was good and chips was warm and fresh! definitely coming back

This has become one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in the area! The happy hour is wonderful-great food and margaritas for a good price! Try the bacon wrapped jalapeños! One time I was sick and ordered the tortilla soup to go. It did not disappoint. The pollo a la crema with chipotle is amazing! Another added bonus is the excellent customer service that we receive from the hard-working owner. Of course, I’m not one to judge a place on décor. Usually if it only receives 3 stars on Unilocal,it will become my favorite. I have not had great experiences with some of the ones listed as 4 – 5 stars on here.

Favorite Mexican restaurant in the world. Shocked this is averaging 3 stars here. It is always the freshest most delicious food you could taste. Favorites are Deluxe Chicken Burrito and Deluxe Vegetarian Burrito. There is something about the absolute freshness of the food that makes it stand out. FAR superior to Julio’s.

I go here all the time. Great grilled jalapenos with bacon. Great happy hour. The owner is super nice. Fair pricing and good food and they have probably the best dive bar in bothell.

Since the remodel and new ownership, this place has become a fabulous Mexican restaurant in the heart of Bothell. The Enchiladas Verdes are spectacular. The food is tasty and the service is excellent.

Got a recommendation from my coworker to check out Gallo De Oro. Service isn’t the best, but the food is pretty decent. When you first walk in, there is a shady bar/lounge area off to your right. You’ll walk to the host table, where there might not be anyone standing there for a good few minutes. Just be patient! When the host finally arrives, they’ll lead you down a hall covered with peculiar Jesus wall art. Not my thing, but I kept walking and just looked forward. You’ll be lead into the dining room(shabby, but homey in a family-owned restaurant kinda way) with lots of tissue flowers and seated at booth in which the seats are spaced too far away from the table IMO. Husband had the carne asadas and they were delicious! It came out on a humongous plate with rice, beans, slaw, steak, grilled green onions(nice touch!) and tortillas on the side. I had the chicken chimichanga. It was a bit dry in my opinion. I don’t know why, but I expected melted cheese in that and there was none. I requested just a bit more sour cream to make it up for the dryness of the chimichanga. They brought out huge side of it and charged me $ 1.75. I wish they would have told me this beforehand, because I didn’t need a bowl of sour cream… a dollop would have done! My favorite thing about the meal was the slaw! Strange, I know, but it was amazing.

Words are powerless to describe, but I’m pretty good with words, so I’ll give it a shot: Awful. Boring. Bland. Flavorless. Totally ungood. Really hate giving negative reviews, but trust the rest, they’re warranted. Went there for birthday lunch with my husband(not his fault, I chose, wanted Mexican and to walk downtown afterwards) Egads… I wanted my usual seafood enchiladas, the crab tasted like it was canned, frozen, then rethawed again :/and somehow the tortillas weren’t cooked(microwaved perhaps?) asked for no rice, only beans, got rice, which tasted like«minute rice» in Campbell’s tomato soup. Seriously. My husband ordered tortilla soup and a garden salad(he proceeded to dump a bunch of salt and Tabasco sauce on it; didn’t help. Salad was iceberg lettuce with a couple veggies tossed in(will give them credit for the triangular plate though.) Untrue to form, we both left unempty plates. And the music, oooh the music! :/Didn’t realize there was such a thing as bad Mexican music in a Mexican restaurant, but alas I stand corrected! I actually asked them if they could turn it down a bit(was unpleasant, distracting and Loud!) They did, key words being«a bit.» The rest of our lunch date we discussed the prime location and made predictions on what kind of restaurant would be replacing it. Soon. I suspect this is a family owned business, just waiting for the right offer to come in, meanwhile relying on their regular nightly«less than discriminating tastes» bar crowd. Good for them. Whoever buys this place however will have a bit of a job ahead of them cleaning and remodeling(probably hasn’t had an update in 20+++ years) but as I said, prime location with lots of possibilities. All in all glad we went; bad food and lackluster service, yet good company and more than a few good laughs ;)

Delicious. I came here with a group of 8 and we were seated right away outside. The server was super nice but wasn’t super friendly. She seemed maybe nervous who knows. But I wished she tended more to the group. Sorry I didn’t catch her name. The food was delicious and I got the cocktail with prawns. I asked for spicy it had tomato soup in the bowl with cilantro, lime, onions, and more. I thought I might not like it but wanted to try something new. It was all delicious.

Worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. Not only did the salsa taste like tomato soup with too much chili powder but the rest of the food was awful. Didn’t have an authentic taste, was poorly displayed with rotten lettuce/cabbage, and their margarita’s were a total fail. Rotten lime. Sour as sh?!& and just plain bad.(First tried the caddie-fail, then tried the regular-bigger fail). Ugh. If the marggies were even decent the rest may not matter. This was our first time there and we tried to order a pitcher of margaritas and the server didn’t even know what a pitcher was. Maybe she’s new so I’m not blaming her. I’ve never in my life experienced a full service Mexican restaurant that doesn’t serve pitchers. But whatever. This review is mostly about the bad food. I really wanted to like this place! As a recent kenmore/bothel resident we’ve been searching for good cuisine. We have family in town that loves Mexican and decided to try this one out. This restaurant misses the mark on all counts. Not only was the food horrible but the place is a dump, extra dirty. I’m embarrassed that I took my family here without trying it first. I will never eat there again and suggest that you don’t either. Honestly after eating there I want to puke to get it all out of my system. That bad! I’ve never created a review like this so its super serious. Pass… Go somewhere else!

This gets a solid 3 stars from me but it could use some updating in my opinion. The chimichanga with chicken tasted like it was freshly made which is great. However it was smothered underneath the largest pile of guacamole and sour cream I’ve ever seen. There was less chimi and more topping. I’d prefer that to be scaled down a bit. I got a margarita but it tasted like it had zero alcohol in it and for the price that’s just unacceptable. Service was quick and polite. The restaurant appeared clean. They have a patio out back with seating under umbrella covered tables, too. Overall a safe bet if you want typical Americanized Mexican food in walking distance of Bothell. I’d still recommend Julio’s over this place, though.

I am brand new to the area: Living in downtown Bothell for a week now! A local couple said they hadn’t heard anything positive about this place, so here goes: Service: prompt, consistent, genuine. Food: out quickly, delicious(pork burrito). Drink: brought water without asking. Frozen margarita was cheap but meh. Overall a good experience and I’ll give them another shot.

I’ve been to Gallo De Oro a few times — the first couple of times I honestly don’t really remember the experience(probably«ok» but nothing to write home about). Recently we checked the place out on Cinco de Mayo — maybe that was our mistake. It wasn’t super busy, there was live music so that was nice. However, the drinks tasted watered down(maybe they made them in big batches?), and our food was SOBLAND. Again, maybe this is due to being mass produced to prepare for Cinco de Mayo, but I’ve made big batches of food and know to adjust the seasonings. All in all we were disappointed.

We ate here tonight and I could see that they had updated the interior of the restaurant, at least part of it and it looked great. We could see a beautiful sunset and trees out the widows. Our food was delicious. The rice was just OK, but the beans, and the cabbage that comes with the chips and salsa was really good. My only negative is that when I went to the bathroom, and walked through the older part of the restaurant, it was dirty. Yuck, I hate eating a a not clean place, and then I did notice a smell… kind of a greasy smell. Well I would go there again, because the food was good, but now because it is kind of dirty, I dont’ think I will do it! The service was wonderful and everyone was friendly. My husband skirt steak was super yummy and very tender and my chicken was very good. But… Please clean your restaurant better!

Convenient location in downtown Bothell at the end of Main Street with a fair amount of street and lot parking nearby. Despite the bar feeling like the furniture is about 20 years outdated I was happy that it had at least a few large screen TVs and a TouchTunes Juke Box. The 12 or so seats at the bar were filled with, what appeared to be, «regulars» who made us feel somewhat unwelcome and out of place. Happy Hour is every day in the bar from 2pm-6pm and the prices were great(the $ 1 tacos were huge and tasty).
