Amazing and lovely! Such a great atmosphere. Will defiantly come back. Only reason for 4 stars is the flies that are buzzing around inside.

First, there’s a redwood tree literally in the middle of the place. That’s pretty awesome. They have pretty good drinks, but one of the times I came here they didn’t have any sparkling water. Definitely get the hot chocolate there, it’s nice and chocolatey.

Rainbows End? This place is called Boulder Creek Roasting Company. Rainbows End is defunct.

What can I say about Rainbows End? I’ve been coming here since I was a kid… and while they should either destroy the building or fix the HECK out of it… I still love coming in here whenever I’m home. The floors are slanting down in the back room where the couches and tree are… making it feel like you’re about to slide down the hillside and into the creek below. The windows no longer fit correctly into their frames, because of the slanting building. The ceiling leaks horribly when it’s raining outside. The place smells musty and damp all of the time… and yet I love it! The couches are in the very furthest back corner… you know. The one that’s pointing almost down at the creek. Yet I still sit on those couches, so that I can watch the water rushing down the creek. The smell of the coffees and teas being brewed… one fresh cup at a time. Mmmm! One word for this coffee lover… HOME!

Love the tree inside and view of creek. Breakfast croissant with ham tomato cheese and egg was tasty.

Raccoons pissed on us from the ceiling. Rat turds visable in bathroom which was filthy. Shorted me on change. There when the bring in their Costco food run, your just eating Kirkland food. Holes in the ceiling, full of the best tweakers in BC, including the staff. One guy just ran around reeking of drink and spun! Plus this old guy who is super creepy looking at my girls trying to talk with them! Turns out they are the owners! Stay away from these wingnuts. Health Department knows about them, so any so called improvements were probably under orders. Don’t believe the new management claim, same nut bags as before.

Ok first I have been coming here since 2011. I’m trying to support small business in my town but this place has ended it for me. In the morning you have to battle through people who look like junkies. The employes are tweakers that seem to be the ringmaster of the junkies. Go across the street to the gas station for coffee, they have a more knowledgeable staff.

Not called Rainbow anymore. Staff was not nice and the atmosphere was depressing. Gone downhill.

Nothing really in the store. My total was $ 9.59. So I gave the cashier $ 20.59. It fucked the cashier’s mind. She says«oh, I already rang it up as you gave me $ 20.» Literally could not figure out what to do. That’s just patehtic, dude. i learned arithmetic in grade school.

I have been here a few times, and I like it less and less the more I visit. When I first went, I just grabbed a mocha to go. It was decent, but not great. The staff is always very friendly and nice, however, they do always look as though they just woke up and walked in. However, this place is DIRTY. The carpets are horrendous, and the couches they have in the back are disgusting. Not to mention, it’s built on the edge of a ravine, and when you walk towards the back of the shop(where the couches are), the floor slopes noticeably. Yes, there is a redwood growing through, which I suppose is cool, but it is so dark in there that I didn’t even see it until my third visit. Overall, I’d avoid this place. There is another coffee shop down the street that is really great, and even New Leaf is a better bet if you just want to grab coffee and go. They do take credit cards now, which is a nice improvement.

Didn’t get anything to eat or drink here but it looked charming and it’s the only place with bathrooms on the street that aren’t on a septic system– read: the owners will let you use them without purchase. Just a heads up! Seemed really cute and outdoorsy.

I don’t care how many people have come to like this place, I will never be able to get over the horrendous business practices that allowed this place to come into existence: In case the locals didn’t know, this establishment was the original location for Coffeetopia, owned by Dave and Kristen who lived only one and a half blocks away on Junction Avenue. It was wonderful. It was the first place in SLV to try gourmet items like real gelato, etc. But then it did so well that the owners drove them out by approximately doubling their rent when their lease term was up, and copied their entire layout with cheaper, lower quality merchadise. I can’t get on board with any business owner who would chase out and capitalize on another’s business efforts.

Now that there’s new owners its got a new plan! So far the walls have been repainted, the sandwiches have been improved with real deli ingredients, fresh veggies, and breads. The coffee is great and of course the staff is awesome. No more locks on the electrical outlets and there’s a nifty pop system so everything can be tracked. :) They are open later, have open mike nights and rumor has it plan to install a roaster. Can’t wait!

If you’re a laptop user, charge your battery before you get here, because they have locked covers over all the power outlets. I think next time I’ll go to a place that actually wants me to spend a couple hours there buying drinks and food. It’s a shame — this could be a really nice place if they would turn the heat and lights on.

It pains me to not give this place even four stars, but I have some very specific reasons for not going here, and rather, driving the extra distance to Ben Lomond. THESERVICE I RECEIVEDWASEXCELLENT… Very nice barista, and she was attentive. I think part of the problem, and this is the BIGGESTPROBLEM, is THEFACILITIES. I had needed to go the restroom. Don’t ask to use it, because it was out of order. The next thing is how dark the shop seems. The redwood tree is grand, except it is not illuminated, it is dark. And the lighting that is, does not make the shop seem inviting, but rather, cavernous, and a bit depressing, that is, if you thrive on natural light and light in general. I guess they used to have a deli or something on the side too, but no more. At best, I would come here, after serious renovations, and light! It is just too run down, and too dingy. Feels more like the former hair salon/bar/waterplacethatsoldtapwaterasspringwaterplace than a coffee shop… unfortunately.

I see a few reviews complaining about how run down this place has gotten. Maybe it used to be in better shape, I’ve only been coming here for a couple years, but I think it’s great. And I think new visitors will love it. Yeah, there’s a couple spots of peeling paint, the back of the building has a noticeable slant down toward the ravine, and on a rainy day you’re likely to see water dripping from the ceiling into strategically placed buckets. But for me that’s part of the charm. I guess one person’s dingy is another person’s homey. Also theres a $%&*@#% redwood tree in the middle of it I mean come on that is so cool. There’s tons of couches and comfy chairs tucked away into nooks and corners. It’s a great place to just hide away for a couple hours and read a book or chat with friends. And despite the cozy feel, this place is pretty large. I think you could fit 30 people in here and not have it feel crowded. The coffee’s good, the food is alright, and the girls behind the counter are always super friendly! To those complaining about the spotty wifi and locked up power outlets: this is a mom and pop café in the mountains. I think you were looking for the Starbucks over in Scott’s Valley?

Love their bagels! Easy to get to after camping nearby for some free WiFi, some coffee and a bite to eat. Right on the«main drag» in Boulder Creek.

Sunday morning: we are all hangry(a cross between angry and hungry). We need something that resembles food and coffee and we need it now! We stumbled upon this funky coffee shop. Outside is a pony with a rainbow colored tail! We all look at each other and with out speaking a word we agree that this is the place to be! Nice girls behind the counter. Check out the Redwood tree growing in the middle of the restaurant. Make a wish at the pot o’ gold near the front door! Play the piano while waiting for your food. Chat and attempt to flirt with some hot young guy with the long braided hair! Grab a chair — there is plenty of seating! We all ordered the same thing: a small coffee plus a ham and cheese croissant. $ 13 for 3 people. Spend $ 2.50 for the most amazing homemade brownie! Do it! Don’t think about it — just do it. Not the cleanest place but who really cares when in search for some form of nutrition in order to survive.

The Rainbows End is a cute local coffee shop in Boulder Creek. The coffee is good, the prices are about average for most coffee shops(ie — not cheap). They have dessert and food items in addition to just coffee. There is TONS of seating in the restaurant, I think there was a fire place too. Nice seating area on the back side of the restaurant that overlooked the creek below. One interesting point is there is a HUGETREE growing right up through the center of the place. I guess they built around it. Kudos for that. They also have WiFi, but you have to purchase access to it, which is a bummer in my opinion. I’ll gladly buy coffee, tea, or something while I’m there, but I hate paying for wifi at coffee shops. Overall I give the place 4 stars. I’d deduct a star for the wifi issue, but they earn it back with the fact that the coffee shop is literally built around a tree. I’m ALL for saving the trees! Oh and if you have you Medical Mary Jane card, there is a little dispensary in the same tiny strip of shops so I hear. They don’t have a sign, but I’m sure if you asked the coffee shop proprietors which suite was the dispensary, they’d know. Also a massage parlor in the strip(normal kind… nothing erotic) and a nail and hair salon. Never been to any other shop in this strip other than The Rainbows End.

It is sad to see a place I once loved fall apart. I used to enjoy coming here when I lived in Boulder Creek. I would buy a large cup of coffee and enjoy a few hours while working my laptop away from stresses at home. Today – about two years since my last visit – I stopped by when visiting Boulder Creek and sadly discovered Rainbows End appears at the end of its trail. All its electrical outlets sport locks and its slow but free computer has been replaced with a broad spectrum of other unpleasant signs of decline. Their coed restroom is decorated with old LP covers and old records. In the past it seemed quaint, years later the faded cardboard covers are stained with(hopefully) water, graffiti and grime. The whole place is tired, run down and has ripened into a creepy level of funk. While the view out of its weathered windows is beautiful, as others mentioned, its sloping floors indicate this poster child of deferred maintenance seems to be heading into the ravine below. I do not plan to return to Rainbows End and expect like the Mexican restaurant across the street, it too will soon be closed.
