Fantastic meal and experience. Food was wonderful and the ingredients was all natural and locally sourced. Come here and feel good about what you are eating.

Basically not my cup. of tea. Industrial setting with very little to no atmosphere. Had a 7.30 booking and had to wait until 8.15 before we could be seated. Not a great start. I know they are trying to get in on the Boulder farm to table/organic/gluten free/crunchy granola scene but that doesn’t excuse the lack of flavor and the lack of atmosphere. I don’t enjoy having dinner with what looks like the great unwashed and appears to be encouraged. Won’t be coming back.

My experience was not so good here. The sticker shock of the menu had me thinking ‘okay, I must be dealing with a chef here’ and that was reassuring for the moment. In a dining room with 8 other patrons(4 of which arriving after us) we waited 45 minutes for our lunch to be served, watched another table who arrived 15 minutes after us get served, and finally sat down to a meal that proved to me whomever was working in the kitchen probably wasn’t getting paid very much of the astronomical prices on the menu, or probably shouldn’t be. We ordered a chicken wrap and a bunless burger. The flaws of the chicken wrap were that all the wet ingredients were on the bottom, chicken cooked to oblivion, other than that, decent flavors but hardly worth the money. My burger ordered medium was cooked well, the egg atop it was cooked hard. If I paid $ 7 for this burger I wouldn’t have been shocked, but it was $ 14 for half the effort at twice the price. I was refunded, that is the only reason why I did not drop 1 star. I grew up in this business and had more technical ability in the kitchen by the age of 17 than whomever destroyed the ingredients they put on my plate. I do not see survival in this establishment’s future if what I experienced today is what the final product looks like.

I made a reservation at 8& they accepted it however when I called to make it earlier, at 7, they told me they were, «just about to call me», to let me know they closed at 8. Food was fine, I had a salad. The service was horrible! No water refills or waitress to be seen.

Food ok nothing to write anyone about. Over priced for what you get The taste of the brisket was boring The salmon was a little piece not enough to fill a bird. The appetizers WAY over priced for 4 figs wrapped in bacon. $ 10 The Gnocchi no taste at all. Would I come here again? No The redeeming quality here was an excellent waitress who was great at her job. Final review here: Do not waste your money

This place had 3 good points. 1. All gluten free-so there were a variety of choices 2. There were vegetarian and vegan choices, even better 3. The server was very nice. The bad points. 1. They close at 8, so we couldn’t really enjoy it as we wanted 2. 10.00 for 4 dates, yummy but not worth the price 3. The entrees came out cold and the servings were small. I got a similar plate at TGIFridays for half the cost. So while we both liked it overall, we came to the same conclusion. WAYTOOEXPENSIVEFORWHATYOUGET. Not worth just liking a meal and still kinda hungry after a $ 100.00

I LOVE the concept of this restaurant from beginning to end, but sadly, can’t imagine returning. I debated between 1 and 2 stars, but given the price of the menu, I have to go 1 star. Blooming Beets wants to be taken seriously with $ 25 entrees… Food –Overpriced– even with the local, organic, gluten-free, nod, it is overpriced! –I had the salmon entrée which was overcooked along with an extremely small portion of roasted vegetables. It all sat atop a very bland sauce. –We didn’t have silverware for about 10 minutes so we all sat with our salads/appetizers sans forks. My husband ended up asking for some. –Entrée arrived while I was still eating my salad(because I had only just received a fork) – which was more on the wilted side than I serve myself at home. Even though I quickly finished up my salad to attend to the main dish, the fish was room temperature at best– honestly it was cold :( –Husband’s beef brisket dish was mediocre. However, the overpriced factor comes up again for this cut of meat is relatively inexpensive. He said it reminded him of good cafeteria brisket from the South. His portions were better than mine for sure. Service: –We lacked silverware for about 10, maybe 15 minutes into our meal and when we did get them, it was a non-issue from our waitress. –My dish was cold– waitress acknowledged we weren’t ready for main dish when she brought them but said she had to bring it out –Service was curt, unfriendly… Especially with the initial lack of silverware, I would have expected her to turn the charm on… for a few minutes? –When we took an second to think about how to split the bill with our friends(another couple), the waitress showed her frustration by throwing the bill/cards back down and walked off… *This is a small operation– she was not busy with a dozen tables, there’s probably ONLY a dozen tables in there, nor were we pondering things, it was literally going to take about 5 seconds, which is the amount of time it took! If you want to check this place out, go sooner than later. With this service and food, it won’t last long.

This is probably my favorite place in Boulder. I’ve only dined here twice, but I like this place. Recently, my wife and I have been attempting a diet of organic, free range, no grain etc. BBK makes it incredibly easy to stick to the plan. Both visits I made reservations for 6:30pm and was promptly seated. Their menu is small & changes daily, which sticks to the essence of a true FT establishment. Each visit, I stuck with the dinner special, soup, entrée & desert. The beat soup is great. Entrees are filling and the desert somewhat amazing to not be loaded up with sugar.

Place is amazing. Hard to find great paleo food this good. Artfully done. I love when you can tell that the people creating the food have all the details in mind but this place goes above that and adds talent to the cooking. Congrats you found this review. Now order some food!

I guess I must be getting old. Either that, or just«cheap.» My wife is experimenting with gluten-free to see if it helps her health issues, I am a 25 year vegetarian, and we wanted to dine with a friend who recently changed to a «paleo» diet. It seemed like the perfect place for us, but I was not ready for the sticker shock. We found it difficult for a party of six to get out of the restaurant for less than $ 200. Now, I understand the extra expense of grass-fed, organically grown, and locally sourced. I loved to eat healthy, to eat organic, and to support my neighbors. But, you know, the only offering on the menu that I could have,(no meat or animal products), was the Vegetable Plate where the Chef decides four sides for you, puts them on a plate, and you pay $ 17.00. We got beets, sweet potatoes, a chilled soup, and a salad. I’m really not even sure that the sweet potatoes, or the salad were completely vegan. The portions were at about ¾ fist size, and all arranged on a long, recrtangular plate. Everything had real good flavor, was very light, and left both my stomach, and my heart feeling better. It was only my wallet that was hurting. I understand about all the overhead, and I do not know what they pay for rent there, or what the economy is like there,(there might be a lot of people making a lot of money who won’t mind the pricing), but I just did not feel anything justified that price. The place was cute, but not that cute. It was actually kind of tiny, and decorated something like a cross between Chipotle and a farmer’s market. The service was nice, but not that good, and not that quick. And, I just can’t think of anything about the place that really said to me, «Get out your wallet, and plop it down.» That’s why I feel I am getting old. Is it really that expensive to eat well these days? Do we have to sacrifice our health to get affordable food? In defense of the restaurant, the Paleo diet they cater to is kind of new, and does come with extra expenses. Also, I loved all of the local options for beverages, even the organic, vegan wine at $ 9.00 for half a glass. I am sure they know their market better than I do, and they have prepared accordingly, but I just can’t think of any good reason to drive all that way, and pay all that money for so little in return. That’s why I rated the restaurant«average.» There is so much to like about it, but not all the pieces come together well for me. If I were rich, and did not care about money, I might eat there all the time, but, when I was done, I’d go somewhere else to finsih filling my stomach.

I came all the way for Massachusetts to come here(and for the mountains) and it did not disappoint! In fact, my boyfriend and I were blown away. The food was not only amazingly fresh, but prepared with a high level of culinary skill and technique. My salmon was cooked perfectly and his spicy, savory Hollandaise sauce on the burger was divine. If you are at all interested in the Paleo/Primal scene this is a must. My boyfriend and I both agreed we wish we could eat here everyday and he isn’t even into that whole scene. Amazing!

So impressed by this place! You’d never know our chicken Alfredo was grain free and dairy free. It was sooo delicious! Fried mushrooms to start and yummy brownie a la mode to finish. Large portions, but I didn’t feel gross afterwards. Service was impeccable! Can’t wait to go back to try everything on their menu.

Our first visit to Blooming Beets left us wanting to come back again as soon as possible. The décor and environment are wonderful — warm and rustic without feeling overwhelming or kitschy. Our waiter was quick and friendly and the food came out less than 10 minutes after we ordered. We had the coconut wrap burrito split between two people and it was more than enough for us to both feel satisfied. Somehow it managed to feel healthful even though it had chorizo, which is almost by definition a food that leaves you feeling a bit greasy and guilty. Though honestly we couldn’t resist having a green smoothie as desert. They have a pretty diverse menu so I’m excited to come back and try more! If you’re looking for a great locally owned and operated spot to enjoy grain free, gluten free, grass fed, wild caught, GMO free, no fertilizer/pesticide food for a VERY fair price, this is the place to come.

I realize people only write reviews when something goes wrong. So my disclaimer is that I’m writing here as a means to vent about my experience at Blooming Beets. I have never felt so compelled to write a review on Unilocal. Came in with mom, girlfriend and our 3.5 year old. Nice waitress sat us at a booth in the back. I ordered the pulled brisket entrée. it was $ 20 and came with a very small portion of beef, which was mildly tasty, some greens(containing the splinter i’ll explain later), and caramelized cauliflower– which tastes like stovetop stuffing. I happen to like stovetop stuffing, so, all good. Here’s the rub #1, my girlfriend’s entrée, she ordered the«bowl of crazy» for $ 15 had literally twice as much of all of the ingredients of my 20 dollar plate, plus sauce, plus sweet potatoes, it was delicious. The best I could say about mine was they didn’t really screw anything up on it, but nothing was«mmmm» delicious– by any means. . Then i ate a 2″ splinter in my greens. When I called the splinter to the waitresses attention, she explained, after deliberation with the kitchen geniuses, that it probably came from the bag from the greens… was it a wooden bag? I am confused. She comped 50% of my meal, thus ensuring I will never return to the Blooming Beets, ever again. The place is weird, slow, the food is admittedly high quality, but it’s lost at the hands of slow, inconsistent service, poor quality control, and an odd menu/atmosphere. Oh yeah, don’t bring kids here– the two kid menu items for kids were mash cakes(no idea what that is) and an egg, or a grain free pancake, both will set you back $ 10.00. Our 3.5 year old was SURPRISE nonplussed by the options and decided to wait until we got home.

I hate to only give two stars for good food, but there are other things to consider. I have been here twice, and both times the service was slow. This last time, it was excessively so. Both sides we ordered were out and were randomly replaced instead of being asked if we wanted something else. My drink order was forgotten(but not on the bill thankfully). Waiting 45 min for food began to exaggerate minor annoyances like the lack if breezeway bringing in the cold air every time somebody came in and out. Facing the window is also bothersome as you are blinded by the street lamp in front of the building. The food IS very good, but the price for the service you get is thumbs-down. I hope they get better!

Had the steak. It’s marvelous. If you’re inclined towards paleo, like whole foods, or avoiding sugar/carbs, this place is for you. The menu is rather limited, but don’t let that fool you. What they do, they do quite well. My friend had the sweet potato cakes with fried eggs and loved it. Very good coffee. Relaxed atmosphere and good service. Well be back for sure!
