We went with friends for dinner. The waitress was wonderful, and immediately attentive. Excellent assortment of beers. They even had hard cider. My wife had fish and chips. My friends had a salad each, one with steak and the other with wasabi salmon. I ordered a lamb burger topped with goat cheese. All was superb. Fish and chips beautiful with crispy crust and fresh fries. The salmon my friend said was perfectly prepared. The steak a medium rare as ordered. My lamb burger medium rare, juicy perfection. I decided on sweet potato fries that were fresh out of the fried crunchy. A super, simple good dinner at a neighborhood restaurant.

Let me start by saying this one star review is because of the general manager Liz. She is rude and condescending only one time to me but I watched her do it to other customers. I come in here quite often and the bartenders and the wait staff are very polite and the food is excellent so for those it is definitely five star but when you have a general manager with that kind of bad attitude and chip on her shoulder. I will make sure my friends and family and myself come when she’s not there.

Everything was great! Staff, food, happy hour! Will be back !! Murphys is a staple of North Boulder! There are few options on this side of town for late night fare. Half priced drinks after nine? Can’t beat it. Every restaurant has good days and bad days, but for a restaurant to be around for over 34 years. That’s sayin’ something! I love the Murphs!

Never again! We went there for brunch today and 1 hour after ordering, still no food. The waiter told us after 40 minutes that«for some reason, our ticket didn’t get processed» so he took the order again, promised to put a rush on it, and then 10 minutes after that, another server told us our food would be «right up»(and she was graciously giving us a 10% discount — SERIOUSLY??? $ 2 on a $ 20 order at which point we had been there for over 50 minutes). After 10 more minutes of sitting around, I told another server we were leaving and to cancel our order. And what really irked me was that none of the servers actually seemed to care. There’s a lot of restaurant/brunch competition in Boulder and we won’t be going back to Murphy’s North EVER.

Been a while since we last ate there, historically one of our favs… but a changed menu and the kitchen QC has dropped big time, or may the grill was the only thing working as our salmon was well grilled –burnt and when do you grill meatloaf into charred scared dry hamburger? Very disappointing,

We were disappointed with the nachos, slightly burnt, no meat, just a bunch of beans and cheese and a couple jalapeños from a can. I could have made better at home. This place is going down hill their menu has tanked and the quality is not what it used to be.

Not sure why this place has received poor reviews. We have been here several times and it has been consistently good both food and service, altho lunch service was a bit slow b/c the appeared to be slammed and w/o enough wait staff. Greeter at lunch was not enthusiastic but overall dining experience was very good each time Poblano tacos rock

It’s open late so it’s got that going for it. If you have to eat, stick with something simple like chips and salsa. Or a salad is a safe bet. You’re gonna need all your lucky leprechauns for anything cooked.

The food was very good. Especially the salmon. The main reason to go is the Thursday magician. What a cool act. It was fun to watch the little girls at the next table searching for the coin popped through the table. The service was pretty good. They did bring the check before asking on desert, but quickly remedied the issue. All together a fun night

First time in Boulder my daughter and I saw the reviews on Unilocal and thought we would try it. We both had a local beer upslope lager. Very nice light beer then we had the special grilled chicken pasta it was very good. great little waitress.

I love their happy hours… Both of them! Wait staff, and greeters are super friendly. The bartender is a bit of a sourpuss today. Pricing is very affordable. During nice weather, the back patio is lovely. Drinks are yummy. The only downside to my visit is the bleu cheese dressing. Its watery/runny with no chunks of bleu cheese. Oh, and the sourpuss bartender. Luckily the rest of the super friendly staff made my visit quite enjoyable.

Don’t eat the Reuben. The worst piece of Corned Beef that I have seen in a decade. And the waitress didn’t care.

. .WHAT happened to Murphy’s Pub? We used to LOVE it and took our Australian guest there last night and it was HORRIBLE! They only had Guiness in cans!(terrible compared to on tap as they used to have and even terrible compared to bottles which they could have had) Stan ordered meatloaf which he has enjoyed many times: the vegetables were inedible so he left broccoli, carrots, mashed potatoes; the meat was so bad he had to leave about an inch around the edge. I ordered a Ceasar salad which I have enjoyed many times: the greens were old and limp; it had tomatoes; the server knew I was ordering it for dinner and gave me a side salad size. The waitress did not know anything about the beers so could not help our guest; and she was rude. While we were gone, they must have been sold? Do you know. We loved meeting the original owner at David’s memorial service. And we know that he often went by after he sold it to have a meal and really felt it was the same. BUTTHISWASBAD! We used to LOVE this restaurant but wonder if there is a new owner or management!

We came here before 5 p.m. to get a table before the place filled up. Despite ordering before other tables that came in and were sat after us, three of those tables received their food before our food finally arrived at the table. During the longer than usual wait, we had to flag down another server to get more drinks. When the food did arrive, my order of veggie lettuce wraps and crab cakes arrived looking awful. The lettuce wrap was wilted and had spots on the lettuce leaves. The crab cake sat in a puddle of oil but was cold in the middle. When I asked to speak to the manager, a lame excuse was offered up for the delay in getting the food to our table. The owner’s dog had died and the kitchen was short staffed because of that. It seems like a long established restaurant like Murphy’s should be able to offer up better food and service.

I stopped in here for lunch because I had a coupon. The place is nice, casual sort of Cheers type enviroment. I ordered the Taos Chicken sandwich with fries. The sandwich was delicious, chicken breast with avacado, poblanos, cheese and chipotle mayo. I enjoyed my lunch and I could see Murphy’s as a comfortable place to have a cold one. The service was okay and the atmosphere seemed laid back.

My advice: Only go here for alcoholic beverages, hamburgers, steaks, regular french fries, and happy hour wings. But for anything else STAY far far AWAY. Don’t even try the sweet potato fries. They came burnt and I don’t even know how the cook willingly let those go out to people. It should be embarassing how terrible they were.

How this place has a good rating is beyond me. The food was terrible, the Rueben was chewy seeming boiled meat devoid of flavor. The burger was a generic party, and apparently they have no idea what medium is. We sent the first burger back because it was nearly blue rare and the replacement was also very rare. How do you fuck up a burger? You employ chefs with no skill or creativity. The fish and chips where equally shit. Dreadful. Our server Andrew was good and gave me a free beer because deep down he knows the food isn’t fit for even animal consumption. Kudos Andrew.

I’ve been coming here for 20+ years. I’m partial to this Murphy’s, only because they are so close to my house. The one down south is just as good, but the décor is and atmosphere is more modern. When I just don’t want to cook, or I’m craving time out, or I want something specific, I often come here. The meals I get are very consistent in quality. Yes, they recently upped their prices a bit, but for the quantity of food, I’m not complaining at all. I almost always end up getting two meals from one order. As for the service, I see some people have had some bad experiences. I’m so sorry to hear this! I’ve only had a couple of these in the last 20 + years, and usually it was when they were swamped, or short handed, or I had a new waitress/waiter. Only once have they messed up a carry out order, and unfortunately I was sick and could go back to get it fixed. I called the manager though and he sent me a gift certificate for a whole new meal. I’ve tried just about everything on the menu, but these are what I recommend the most: the Gorgonzola Chicken Salad(though I usually ask for it with steak), the Grilled Portabella sandwich, any of the burgers, the Tilapia fish tacos, the IPA Battered Fish & Chips, or one of my most favorites: The BBQ Ribs or the Chicken Saltimboca or the Crunchy Mustard Salmon. I have also had the trout a number of times, but since I’m allergic to walnuts they make with a Panko crust for me. Happy hour is pretty popular, though I do wish they had more food selections on the Happy Hour menu. Personally, I go for the fish tacos off that almost every time. They’re pretty good for the price, though I usually double my order. They recently upped the number of taps for their draft beer selection too, which I say to that, «It’s about time, and thank you!» I also don’t have a TV at home, so if I want to watch some sports, I come here, especially during the baseball playoffs and World Series games when the Cardinals are playing. I can always find fellow fans here. Murphy’s North is not what I’d call fine dining, but it’s pretty reasonable for the portion sizes and fairly consistent too. I just wish they had better desserts and more of a selection. They take all major credit cards and you can be sure you’ll never have them stolen.

I’ve been going to Murphy’s for years and they have always been consistent. The food is better than your average pub fare and they have a great happy hour. Pros: Good food, beer selection, mostly friendly staff, three big screen TV’s in the bar area, clean, and $ 1 dessert to satisfy your sweet tooth Cons: Décor is a little outdated I would honestly give Murphy’s 4.5 stars because of the décor but since I have to give whole stars I’ll round up to 5.
