Half Fast is just excellent! We have been enjoying delicious sandwiches and pitchers of Strong Islands here for years and have always been happy, satisfied customers. Yesterday, though, the team at Half Fast truly went above and beyond to absolutely make my day. I had oral surgery yesterday and was seriously craving their delicious mashed potatoes… I couldn’t get them out of my head! You can’t even buy mashers off the menu(they’re available on a delicious sandwich though so I knew they existed), I figured I was out of luck but the guys at Half Fast went out of their way to humor my non traditional order and they worked with my hubby to find a way to get them delivered by Hungry Buffs! 30 minutes later, I was in mashed potato heaven! Lucky for me(and for you), these guys are willing to go out of their way to make your little food dreams come true!

Came here to try the famous sandwiches and cheap pitchers that I always hear about. Since it was«Bomber Wednesday», my friend and I ordered a bomber pitcher to share for $ 6. I’m not gonna lie, I totally thought that a bomber was some type of beer. Turns out it was basically a pitcher of vodka. Everything was really tasty, despite the fact that I ended up drinking hard liquor on a Wednesday.

I am sure every CU student in Boulder knows about Half Fast Subs. If they don’t then they haven’t experienced life yet. Being that I am not from Colorado, and my fiancé went to CU, he wanted to share this place with me. I have never been disappointed. Everyone that works there is super friendly and laid back. The subs are always awesome. Every time I go, I try someone thing new. I don’t know how you can’t since the menu is ginormous. So many options for subs. The drinks… oh the drinks. Getting a personal pitcher of margarita or long island is totally worth it. They also allow dogs on the patio, which you watch the college traffic. I don’t think I can say anything bad about this sub joint. I love it! Every time I am in Boulder, I have to stop in and get a sub.

The best sub place in Boulder, although I wonder if there is really any competition. Half Fast, situated close to CU Boulder on The Hill, is probably a great place for students(and maybe non-students alike) to go visit and half themselves a nice sandwich and a strong island. When you walk in, you may be overwhelmed with the number of sandwich choices you have, but honestly, out of all the times I went here in school, I never had a bad sandwich. I always preferred the warm sandwiches, but there’s nothing wrong with any of them! They also boast vegetarian options too. They also have a ton of drinks, but the most popular being a pitcher of their strong island. Nobody can resist that and is a very affordable drink! Only one pitcher of the strong island per customer, which can knock you off of your seat if you drink it too quickly! Definitely a Boulder place to visit and experience for a good time!

I ordered the chicken fried steak — Not the healthiest option for me but I was famished after hiking the flatirons. This totally hit the spot and made me feel 100% better. They’ve got lots and lots of options, you’re bound to find something for you!

I’ve heard great nights arise from these so-called ‘Strong-Island Iced Teas’. So I went to order one, and it came in a PITCHER, and it was just $ 7. I can’t be certain of how much alcohol is in these Strong Islands, but they’re delicious and either way you’re bound to have a great night onward.

Among the many sandwich shops that encircle the university, Half Fast has no equal. It has inimitable Hill character, earned from its decades of operation. The menu is vast. The food quality is exceptional. The booths are comfortable. Most importantly the management is ever present, ensuring guests are satisfied. Want to see what a five star sandwich shop looks like? Visit Half Fast.

This place is amazing and after 11:30 on Friday nights everything including drinks are half off. You can’t beat a pitcher of beer, vodka drink, 2 subs and chips for $ 15. I live in a college town and we don’t have anything like this. I sure wish we did.

Closer to 5 stars than 4(for what it is). Definitely wouldn’t rate this on the same scale as, say, a steakhouse, but this place kicks ass. Big, loaded delicious subs with literally(meaning literally, not figuratively) a hundred options. I love putting meat in my mouth(no homo), but my favorite sandwich here is the Caprese sub. Pesto, huge slices of pretty good quality fresh mozz, it’s the dankness. Outrageously strong drinks — $ 8 for a pitcher that’s got 2 – 3STRONG drinks worth of booze in it. Protip — I’m not condoning this by any means, but a savvy person can weasel out of the 1 pitcher limit.

I guess this is one of the best sub places in the area? I think they’re okay. I tried the ones w/the stars which indicated that they were the popular subs ordered. My friends and I ordered the 14 inch subs with a jug of Margarita and hung out in the patio deck. What we ordered: 1) The Shiz — Chicken Tenders Roasted Red Peppers, Swiss, Bacon Basil Mayo($ 10.49) — I don’t think I’m a fan of chicken tenders on my sandwich. Unless it wasn’t cooked the same as usual, having tenders on a sub didn’t taste right. I would not get this one again. 2) Ba-Donk-A-Donk — Roast Beef, Cheddar, Bacon, Grilled Onions, Chicago Hot Peppers, Ranch Dressing, Lettuce, Tomato($ 10.49) — This one tasted better than the Shiz, but it would’ve tasted much better if it had some sort of sauce on it. 3) Forgot what the last sandwich that I tried was called. All I know is that it had mushrooms and it tasted like a vegetarian lasagna. This was actually pretty good. Overall, the subs were alright. They just looked great because they were huge. If I come back to this place, I would try something that I’ve never tried before.

Went through Boulder and made an effort to stop at Half-Fast Subs. It was definitely worth it, the menu is gigantic and every sandwich is signature – uniquely named and crafted. My group all ordered different sandwiches and I got to try roughly 5. Go figure I liked everyone else’s but my own. No one got to try mine because I scarfed it down. My recommendation: the shiz I don’t recommend: BBQ philly(too many other good options and it didn’t «pop» like some of the other subs) The menu is somewhat overwhelming but broken down into sections like: Italian subs, chicken tender subs, philly style subs, even fish subs! There may be 50+ different signature subs. Basically, if you like options, or have a group of people with different tastes, go to Half Fast subs and you will not be disappointed.

Love this place! After walking around campus we made a pit stop here as it looked like a good college spot and the outdoor seating looked like the perfect place to relax before our flight back east. Even though we went during the summer there were still quite a few students which lends to a more fun and upbeat atmosphere. The subs are awesome! Some of the best that I’ve had in a long time. They’re also extremely unique. Anything you’re hungry for, you can get on a sub here. I had the new turkey and it was packed with flavor! I love anything with artichokes on it. I opted for the large size and ate the whole thing(I was really hungry) but, I think the average person could get by with the half and a bag of chips. The next time I’m in Boulder I’m definitely stopping here and I’ll be trying one of those pitchers next time — they looked amazing!

Solid sandwiches and drink specials. I have no complaints. I’d recommend any of the Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. They are fantastic. I will be back here in the future!

While in Boulder we stopped here for some lunch. They have so many options it was overwhealming for sure to definitely take a look at the menu before you go. They do have the sandwiches divided into sections(vegeterian, turkey, ham sandwiches etc.). It is on the hill and located next to a bunch of other places and across from the university. I got the Shiz which was really good. The Big Apple was also really good! There was plenty of space and an outdoor patio that they allowed you to bring your dog onto.

Glorious. Delicious. Historic. Legendary. Great place offering a wide and epic selection of veggie and meat oriented subs. I tried The Shizz, and it was a religious experience. The basil mayo and red peppers were on point. I also got a BLT sub, simple and impressive. Pretty decent brownie too. Good place for subs with friends or coworkers, or you just need a bunch of grub for you and the roomies. Solid pricing and it’s worth it for such good taste and quality. Respect.

So we were passing through Boulder on a snowy night at Midnight on a Tuesday and were hungry. Wow… this place was still rocking. The subs were good, but I was more interested in the local crowd drinking mixed drinks out of pitchers with a straw. Seems to be a go to pre-post party spot for the local college kids. Everyone is happy and having a good time. We enjoyed our subs, but the experience involved much more than the food.

Longest sandwich menu I’ve ever seen in my life. These sandwiches are unique and huge! But the proportions could have been a bit more practical. The sandwich I ordered had wayyyy too much meat(my friend actually had to remove some of it to make it through the sandwich), and it unfortunately it overshadowed the avocado, the sauce, and all the other special ingredients I was excited to taste. Filling sandwich for cheap and great for a college town, but this sandwich pales in comparison to others I’ve had.

This place is great. They serve 7″ and 14″ monster subs on white, french or whole wheat rolls. Both hot and cold. It should be on a food show. It’s definitely a great place to go if you’re at the university of Colorado.

I’m giving half fast a 3 out of 5 stars because the sandwiches ultimately aren’t that good. I feel like a ton of people are giving them high stars solely due to the pitchers, which in reality are so sweet they guarantee a terrible hangover. College kids flock to this establishment because it’s easy to get drunk off of a pitcher and even easier to get around the 1 pitcher limit. The sandwich selection is extremely expansive but overall they are just another sandwich with nothing special. The sandwiches here are extremely inconsistent, one day you could order one sandwich and the next day order the exact same sandwich but it would be completely different.
