I love this store! They have over 500 different products and they are all reasonably priced, particularly for a specialty shop. I was pleasantly surprised. They also offer programs such as ‘trade in an old bottle, get $ 1 off’ and ‘spice of the month’ club to stretch your dollars further. The store is laid out quite well, making it a browser’s paradise. Plan some time, and go next door to Oliverde too. There are great gift packages – we first were introduced to their spices when we received a set as a gift. We got the CO14ers and Front Range sets and used them ALL. I’m hooked. They have a great patio out back for events too, and I see that they are teaming up with folks to do health seminars and such. A community asset.

Savory Spice Shop is fantastic. It’s cute, well stocked, and the staff is top-notch. We originally visited the Denver location and were immediately hooked. There are tons of interesting spice combinations you would be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. We have never made a trip to Savory Spice Shop and left empty-handed or disappointed. The Boulder location is a little smaller, but everything is still organized and presented well. Spices are sectioned so you can quickly find what you need. Staff can also prepare a bottle/bag for you if the size you require is not available in the spice you want. Staff is always around and available to answer your questions. They are truly spice connoisseurs and provide excellent recommendations! Although the spices are on the pricier side, they are high quality. I would much rather support a local business than buy generic spices from a huge corporation. If you love to cook and find yourself using lots of spices, this is the place for you.

From my first purchased spice which was Mt. Elbert(all purpose, I was playing it safe), I vowed to never buy another spice anywhere else. The mixes are so creative, I make up dishes just to use some of them. I buy everything from salt to cocoa powder at Savory Spice Shop. I have not bought anything spice or flavor related anywhere else in over a year(since my last visit). All house warming gifts for friends are now spice mixes! And they love them! I ship them back to NY on regular bases for my family. Everyone who works there knows their craft and they are very helpful. I signed up for their newsletter and love opening it. True staple of the community in every way.

This place is the best. Not only do they offer very high quality single variety herbs, spices, and salts, but they have a huge variety of amazing spice blends. While the blends cover countries around the globe, I believe that Savory actually crafts their own version of each blend locally. The staff is always incredibly knowledgeable and helpful in finding just what you’re looking for, and they always make excellent new recommendations. I love that you can buy bags of spices as well, which cuts down on both the waste and cost of bottles. I’m also happy to say that as a university lecturer, I’ve had students visit this shop for various projects, and they have always been welcomed and well-taken care of by the staff. Additionally, CU faculty get a small discount, and members get a complementary spice blend during their birthday months. Overall a wonderful place!

I absolutely love this place. The staff is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. There’s a huge variety and the possibility to smell and taste before purchasing. Their website is also great with many, many useful recipes and tips. I plan on subscribing to their spice club.

If you like to cook and you like spices this is your shop. It’s a must stop for any cooks especially visiting friends as they can bring back something yummy from their trip to Boulder Colorado. I know it is a chain of stores but you feel like it’s the only store the way that their employees treat you when you come in. They’re very knowledgeable and friendly and willing to talk with you about food and possibilities. When my friends come to down I take them here.

This is a fun little spice shop, located ¼ block north of Pearl. Sweetie and I always have a good time perusing the selections and tasting the various spice blends. Tasting them? you ask. Yes, that is one of the best aspects of the place. In addition to smelling, you can taste the merchandise. This is so so so very important when deciding whether or not to purchase a new spice blend. Single spices and herbs are already known. No real need to taste basil or cardamom. But I never buy a new/unknown spice blend without being able to taste it. So, thanks to SSS’s samples, I have purchased quite a few nice blends from the place, and will continue to do so. They have all been very good. And, as an added bonus, many of them don’t contain salt, and the ones that do contain salt have salt listed as the third or fourth ingredient, not the first.(I am so tired of «spice blends» that are mostly salt!!) I highly recommend that you go into this place, spend some time appreciating the wares, and choose a favorite selection or two to purchase.(The truffled salt, for instance, is divine.) I do have a few minor quibbles with the place, with emphasis on minor: — Prices are quite high. — The place doesn’t have many regular/standard spices and herbs, so I can’t go here to fully stock my spice cabinet. For that, I go to that other spice shop located right around the corner. — The place is small, so it stocks only a small portion of the offerings that can be found on the SSS website. I understand the space limitation, but it is frustrating to find all sorts of tantalizing spice blends on the website that I can’t try, and thus don’t purchase. SSS might consider keeping in the back of the store a bag of each and every website offering, so that people can try them before purchasing.

Best spice shop I have ever been to! Friendly customer service and superb spices. Being able to taste and smell the spices truly adds to the experience! I will definitely be coming back soon.
I am addicted to the Savory Spice Shop. They offer quality spices that can transform average meals into gourmet meals. My family has loved the transformation in my cooking. I frequently stop in to see what’s new. They have fun recipes on hand for some of their spices which I love. This allows me to make extraordinary new meals. This location does not have some of my favorites that I used to get in Oklahoma, so that makes me a little sad. But overall they keep a great variety of spices on hand. When you walk in you may feel overwhelmed with the smell, but it’s truly a unique and adorable little spice shop. It’s located right off Pearl Street in a renovated old building. Savory Spice shop is a must try!

There is just something so charming about a spice shop; I love them! It’s very intimate, smelling everything and imagining new ways in which you will use them. Savory has some really great options, no matter what it is that you’re looking for. BBQ rubs? They have lots. Thought there was only one kind of cinnamon? Think again. Does your recipe specifically call for smoked Hungarian paprika? They have it. I could spend countless hours(and dollars) here… but to be honest, this weekend, we didn’t have that kind of time. We walked in with a purpose; ceylon cinnamon and taco seasoning. One of the employees asked to help us, pointed out where we could find each and while she was working on bagging up what we need, we were able to peruse to our liking. We left with exactly what we came for, along with one additional item since we had that extra few minutes to spare. Friendly help, lots of options at a reasonable price. Yes. So much yes.

Truly an amateur chefs dream! This environmentally friendly spice shop is, in typical boulder fashion, passionate about wha they do. Their spice blends are really good and they reuse their containers. You can bring in your old spice bottles for a discount too! I’ve fallen hard for their paprika blends.

Scary Spice. maybe? Sporty Spice. no. Baby Spice. no. Posh Spice. no. Ginger Spice maybe? I like spice a lot, and this shop is really a spice geeks ultimate destination on a consumer level they have everything you could imagine and more. Just go in and tell them what you want, what you really really want and they will do their best to spice up your life. this time in i picked up the cook county charcoal seasoning(what say?!) «We handcraft this seasoning by mixing together kosher salt, garlic, onion, pepper, activated charcoal, cumin, thyme, chipotle, oregano and hickory smoke flavoring.» and some their Black Dust Coffee & Spice Rub«We handcraft this blend by starting with a dark roast coffee and mix into it just the right amount of black pepper, cumin, Alderwood smoke salt, brown sugar, cocoa, mustard, coriander and chipotle.» — Too Much? nope. this place rocks.

This is a great little spice shop. Locally owned and operated. This place has some great gift ideas and a vast selection of spices… Not as expensive as you would think, given the location/store/fanciness… really no more expensive than run of the mill spices you would get at the grocery store… service is excellent — Dan is awesome… very knowledgable… great community feel to this place. a must visit when you’re in Boulder!

Getting Spicy The Savory Spice Shop is a great place to find new and exciting flavors to add to your kitchen. They have all kinds of blends and spices native to various regions around the world. I’m sure they tapped into some quality selections that truly makes this a go-to spot for some unique foodie potions. The service was great considering we were directly chatting with the owner, Dan. He was awesome. Dan greeted us and showed us around a bit. He was even kind enough to share his knowledge on a few ingredients we had questions about. I can’t speak for the rest of the staff but we loved the service we received this particular visit. I really wanted to see what this place was all about even though we had out kiddies with us. Knowing they’ll be a handful we quickly tried to find a few things we can use for dinner. The verdict? 1oz of Ghost Pepper Salt, 1oz Herbs in Duxelles Seasoning, &2oz Onyx Cocoa Powder. Just enough to give each a try and last for a good amount of recipes. The Ghost Pepper Salt is spicy with a pleasant chocolate note that highlights the heat. The salt works well. The Herbs in Duxelles Seasoning is simply rich with excellent mushroom flavors. The blend of seasonings and 3 types of mushrooms made this one a winner in my book. I love chocolate and when I saw the cocoas– I was convinced that I’d be walking out with something to bake with. I tried the 5 they had on display and the sweet, potent flavor and aroma of the Black Onyx Cocoa Powder was hard to pass up. I’ll have to use it to really tell you folks what I really think. I was sad because I wasn’t able to fully experience this shop since our kids were tired and wanted to go home from a long day spent downtown. The hubs and I will need to set up a time for a sitter and make our way back here to make our rounds and find more goodies to add to our growing pantry!

This is a truly incredible store and I think what makes it particularly special is the amazing owner, Dan, who is here almost all the time. I feel like he might know almost everything about spices and food in general. I always ask his advice on just about everything food-related and he has never failed me. Basically you can find pretty much any spice here that you could think of, and many more that you have probably never heard of in your whole life. They will be fresh and less expensive than you would find elsewhere. This is a great place to take visitors to Boulder — truly memorable. I love the boxed spice compilations here as well — they make for excellent gifts.
