I dont even want to give this place one star. Ive been giving them business for a long time… The owner is an absolute jerk and wouldnt allow my service dog which is illegal. He wouldnt even let me sit on the porch with her. If you like perpetuating ableism and being scrutinized, then by all means head down to the tavern.

Cool place to hang out with friends, drink & play pool or darts… Not a place you’d want to bring a date. It’s a dive bar for sure. Kind of scared to try the food… Though we’ve had friends eat it with no problems. Awesome that they have the 2 for 1 happy hour.

Atmosphere is ok. It’s an old school bar first. You can still smell the old cigs when you walk in. Fish and Chips were fantastic. Need to make vinegar available though. The band played was«Von Disco»…they were VERYGOOD! Find them for when they play in Boulder.

Urinal on the left don’t flush, otherwise 5 stars. Heehee. Food is legitimately the best bar food in Boulder. Lately, though, there’s not enough Cajun on the Cajun wings. More Cajun! Anyway, we love this place and the folks who run it do a good job. My girlfriend and I dine here frequently and we will continue to do so…

This place is a block from our house and it took us 6 months to make it inside because it always looked dead. Boy am I glad we made it in there. The drinks were strong and the beer was cheap. Great bar and above average food. The Cajun wings were on point! Also the bartenders were very friendly and informative. Lots of pool tables and free darts. I will definitely be back!

This joint is a solid sports bar w/some eclectic patrons. If you enjoy hanging out watching a game with REAL people, and some actual knowledgeable fans, this spot is you. There are also a bunch of pool tables around the corner & away from the bar if you wanna get your stick on. Great happy hour & some pub food to keep you in the game too.

This place is definitely not for everyone, as you can see by some of the other comments, but for many it is a great find and even a staple. They have daily drink specials(including a 2 for 1 happy hour every day!), plenty of TVs for keeping up on all the games, pool tables, and ping pong. However, the very best thing about the 28th Street Tavern, besides the people behind the counter, are the WINGS! Best wings in Boulder, hands down. Order them Cajun dry-rubbed with a side of nuclear sauce.(Especially if you are a fan of ACTUALLY spicy food…) BAM. The 28th Street Tavern is also a refreshing change of environment for those who get burnt out on the often pretentious side of Boulder culture. Honorable food mentions: fried ravioli, the Firebird sandwich, the Cobb salad, and the ribs!

Great place to have a relaxing night of food and drink. The foods good, the atmosphere is not to in your face, and they are focused on service and quality instead of Girls and Ditziness. I know sex sells but save that for the freaks and clubs that have no game or guest and give me a stiff drink and decent food and I got that here.

Don’t go here, the owner Ian is so rude you will leave angry. Go to the outback instead if you’re looking for a similar experience.

I can’t even give this place one star, it reeks so bad. But they made me. As if the Outback wasn’t enough of a scum palace for this area of town, this dive makes a significant contribution to the ambiance of drug addicts, hookers, and general degenerates that is 28th street. The service is awful, the floor sticks to your feet when you walk. The management, and especially the owner, are exactly what you would expect in this environment.

Great place with many tvs for sports plus their game room. Had my 40th birthday party here and the staff was great!

This is where I go when I don’t want the typical Boulder college scene. It isn’t on the Hill or Pearl, so most of the customers are mid late 20s and up. It really is my favorite sports bar in Boulder where I don’t have to hear Dubstep blaring and fists pumping. I really like this place. I met Matt, one of the owners, elsewhere and thought I would swing by. What is interesting is that he did not even bring up which bar was his; I had to ask. The atmosphere isn’t anything out of the ordinary. They have 5 pool tables that are actually balanced, which is refreshing for a college town. They also have air hockey and free ping pong. Sundays are my favorite time to go here because they have free pool and a free hot dog and nacho bar. This was going on during football season, but I honestly don’t know if It is year-round. They have Sunday Ticket and a bunch of good TVs, so that is good also. Happy hour is great for Boulder. They have 2 for 1 drafts and wells from 4 – 6 pm. They only have micro brews on tap(a couple Avery ones and some others) which might disappoint those looking for typical domestics, but let’s be honest, Colorado has some great local micro brews. During regular pricing, I got a big(4.5 — 5 beers) pitcher of Avery Brow for about 9 bucks, which isn’t horrible. They have some food, but I haven’t tried anything other than the free stuff, which is good. They have DJs on some weekend nights, but as stated before, it is fairly tame and there is no need to feel like you should be more than drunk(if you catch my drift). Hidden gem that deserves a chance!

This place rocks. Total hidden gem. Free ping-pong. Patio. Pool. Good beer. What more do you want? Oh yea: a vending machine that sells: condoms, mouthwash, a PIPE, lighters, umbrellas and some snacks… Awesome. Boulder needs more neighborhood bars like this.

This is where unbaptized babies and virtuous pagans go when they die. Seriously, it’s that boring. The only mildly interesting thing that seems to happen here is being cornered by some middle-aged Boulderite who babbles some disjointed tale about how interesting and awesome their lives have been compared to yours. Unless you built a machine to go back in time and stop a group of insane creationists from assassinating John Scopes, keep your stupid story to yourself. Everyone has interesting stories, like that time I almost set off fireworks in the 28th st. Tavern because it was so boring. Egad, I feel bored just writing about it. I’m gonna go burn something.
