This is beer nerd heaven. Not as big as the main location in San Diego location but well worth the visit. It is just the the right and upstairs from the Upslope east boulder location. The point of their tasting room is to show off the various strains of yeast they sell to brewers. Before going to the SD location I had no idea how much the yeast strain affected both the taste and mouthfeel of the beer. At the SD location I tried 4 different IPAs. At this location they only offer two variations and only for 3 – 4 styles of beer but it is still well worth a visit.

The White Labs tasting room is a great place to grab a pint and learn a thing or two about beer. White Labs manufactures pure liquid yeast for homebrewers and professional brewers. They have now brewed delicious beers that demonstrate the effects of different yeast strains on the same wort(unfermented beer.) I sampled all 6 beers and found if very interesting to see how vastly different they could be just by changing one ingredient, the yeast. I also enjoyed a pint of the Frankenstout, a beer made with 96 yeast strains. Oddly, the stout was very palatable. When I think 96 yeast strains if reminds me of a soda fountain«suicide» from when I was a kid. This wasn’t the case though. As well as delicious beers they have some great White Labs merchandise, books, and of course yeast for sale. Yeast talk come free and what better way to talk beer than over a pint.
