I haven’t been to Sakura in years, so when my dad suggested that we go for Father’s Day I jumped at the chance. Happy to report that it was as good as I remember!

I only gave a star because I had to in order to write a review. Basically, they need to hire someone to answer the phone that actually know what sushi is. He has no clue when I asked him about different items on the menu. When I showed up to get my order he gave me the wrong order. I asked him here the California roll was and he was again clueless. Seriously, who doesn’t know howw a California roll looks?! Besides the unknowledgeable host, the rolls were tiny and the fish wasn’t fresh. The only good thing I can say is that they whip the wasabi do it’s not gritty.

I honestly don’t recommend this Sakura, it was not a Sakura experience that I’m used to. The employees were not friendly at all including the chef it seemed like all business, I had taken my kids and they weren’t impressed either! I would definitely recommend the Sakura in Laurel they know how to treat their customers.

Went there on a Tuesday half hour before closing. Was seated promptly, hibachi table wasn’t properly cleaned. We asked the chef to wipe it down which he did both the chef and the server were courteous and catered to our every need. Even pulled out a few tricks for us. Food was delicious. I am giving them 3 stars because I did not like the fact that our hibachi grill was not clean upon being seated. Other than that I had a great time. Not to mention reasonable prices for a hibachi grill($ 50 for 2 people)

I used to absolutely love this place. I went today hoping for some much needed hibachi and another person at my table found a bug I in her soup. Because this was before I ordered, I left because I was completely turned off. I ended up going to Fuji about 10 minutes away in Crofton, Maryland and it was amazing. Definitely will be my regular hibachi spot now. Sorry to say goodbye to Sakura.

HORRIBLE!!! Staff is rude and slow. I waited 20 minutes to be seated with reservations and an hour for food and drinks. everyone that works here lacks experience, customer service and a brain. I will never return to this location even if they were serving free food. SAVEYOURMONEY!

You will get ripped off getting the food to-go … Just sit and order in then ask for a box …

Came here with no expectations and was completely disappointed by the poor service I ordered sushi only to be told 30 minutes after I ordered that there are no more supplies for sushi and sat here with no food. Furthermore they continued to not accommodate to my dairy allergy by not even cooking in front of me only to later inform me they couldn’t even make fried rice without butter. This is a pathetic excuse for a restaurant.

Stopped in for the Sushi Bar after a late conference. It was quiet and relaxing. Normally you’ll hear the cooks working hard and making a ton of noise.

Love sushi but had never been here before. Tried it today for lunch. It was great. The most tasty, and the price is ok. Fresh sushi I have had Chantilly. The miso soup and salad are also the typical ones you get at Japanese restaurants.

I went here for my birthday brunch. We were seated promptly. The waitress was very nice. This unfortunately is where the pleasant experience ended. 3 people in my party have mushroom allergies and 1 person just doesn’t like them. At every point we made it clear that 3 people had allergies and no mushrooms could touch the utensils or grill until out food was finished. The cook dropped mushrooms on the grill then tried to remove them quickly. We pointed out our allergy and that we needed the grill wiped down and he needed to start again. We were given the worst attitude and told that we probably just didn’t like them and we should leave him alone and get over it. I promptly cancelled my order and opted for sushi. Then he again started working with mushrooms with food on the grill that was intended for other members in my party. We asked for the manager and he acted as if he didn’t care. Then to top it off it was my birthday and they always offer cake or something, nothing was offered and the check was tossed at us. I have never been made to feel bad about having a food allergy. I will never return!

The family and I went here because we loved the one in Waldorf. When we went in there was no one to take us to our seat. They were playing explicit rap music very loudly(not that I don’t hate the music, it just doesn’t seem appropriate for a restaurant). When we finally got to our table/grill the food was great and the portions reasonable, but the service once again was unacceptable. At no point did the waitress refill our drinks, nor did we see her again until it was time for the bill. I love this chain, but this location is just terrible.

I really dislike this place and I hate when someone has a gathering here and I’m forced to attend. The spicy tuna roll and miso soup are decent, but anything off the grill tastes like the cleaning rags. You know the smell of a rag or towel that is kind of sour because it has been damp for so long? Everything that comes off of the hibachi grills tastes like that. And I’ve been here a few times. The chefs are also not entertaining and barely engage with you while cooking. And when they do, it is inappropriate. I went there this past weekend and the chef constantly flirted with me as my husband sat next to me. He made our whole table feel very uncomfortable.

I’m half Japanese. What an insult that a lot of Americans think that some non-Japanese Asian clown flings around a knife and spatula and feels that they are experiencing Japanese food. Yet these places exist. Sadly, they are popular. I can’t understand why. First of all, it just ain’t authentic Japanese. Second of all, I don’t find it entertaining watching some clown cook the food in front of me. Third of all, did you taste it? It’s crap. Even the sushi here is overpriced. Gimme a break. Please, stop supporting these places.

Craving some sushi, and hungry from shopping nearby, I decided to get takeout from Sakura. I ordered two sushi rolls and a cup of miso soup to go. The restaurant was deserted, but I was told it would take 30 minutes. Fine. I came back, and the lady at the sushi bar told me 10 more minutes. I waited and came back to my order, ready in a bag on the bar. I quickly fumbled through the bag to make sure everything was there, and sure enough the miso soup was missing. When I asked the lady about the soup, she left and then came back with a packet of miso soup to put in the bag. You know, the kind you open, put in water, and COOKYOURSELF. Stunned, I asked why I paid for something I DIDN’T WANTTOMAKEMYSELF, and the lady smiled and said, «Miso soup!» I just left. Please people, go somewhere else.

This place was truly fantastic. I never really go to these type of restaurants, so I have no other similar type of place to mention as a comparison. The staff was very friendly. The food was cooked right in front of us. That was fun to watch. My fried rice was great and plentiful. I have absolutely ZERO complaints regarding my visit here.

I felt compelled to write about this place, not because the food was horrible– we never got to that point. It was a beautiful Saturday morning, the wife and I were out for a jaunt and decided we wanted hibachi; being in Bowie at the time we decided hey, there’s a place we haven’t tried– lets give them a go. Cool, right? Not so much. We walked in, it was dark– not a huge deal, but they were like a Mr. Popeil commercial– they sat us and then completely forgot us. We must’ve sat there for nearly 10 minutes; it doesn’t sound like much until you have to do it– 10 minutes, zero service. To make matters worse, the hibachi table we were seated at was STILLFREAKINGDIRTY. The place had only been open a half hour and the grill table was cold so it stood to reason those crumbs were from yesterday’s service. That was basically the straw that broke the camel’s back– the wife was already miffed at having sat there for 10 minutes w/out a single server coming by to see what we wanted. This story ends on a good note, however– it was on this very same day that we discovered Grace’s Fortune and shortly after that a new Grace’s had opened up down the street with– you guessed it– hibachi style cuisine; in a much nicer establishment. Since we’d found Grace’s, we never got around to giving this place another try– judging from the reviews I’ve read, I made the right choice. You do the same– there’s absolutely no reason to eat here; if you want hibachi, there’s a Grace’s approximately 5 miles down the road; if you want good chinese, the Grace’s Fortune that is in the same shopping center as this place is the better choice.
