Friendly owner is an understatement. The owner, Drago, is one of the most hospitable people I have ever met. They only use fresh ingredients, which showed in the side salad. The menu changes peridocially from what I understand but the mojo pork he makes is incredible. There was a little misunderstanding with our order so we didn’t get exactly what we wanted but what we ate was good. I ordered the miami with a side salad and my boyfriend ordered the Don Fernando. The sandwiches had a generous portion of meat and cheese, unlike subway or most other sub shops. You HAVE to try the cuban sodas. The watermelon was delicious. Ice cream was good. I wish he had a wider variety of flavors. He had 12 flavors ranging from vanilla to guava. The ice cream soda is a very interesting concept. He made my boyfriend a fantastic coconut ice cream soda with coconut ice cream topped with chocolate. Overall the people are what make this place awesome. The wait is a little long but worth it. We will be back for our bacon ;)

Good food in downtown Bradenton. The owner is extremely nice. All the sandwiches are tasty. Though service can be a little slow, everyone is so nice, we didn’t mind. The Shipwreck sandwich is awesome.

Stopped here for lunch while exploring Bradenton on a rainy day during vacation. Absolutely loved it. Best lunch I had while on vacation. The shipwreck sandwich was so good. Owner was super friendly with my boys. Made them special chocolate milk with ice cream. Great little place off the beaten path

My husband & I were looking for a place to have lunch while in Bradenton, and found Drago’s on Unilocal. Now we’ve found ourselves traveling from Ruskin in order to get our Drago fix. It’s one of the places we bring our family members when visiting from out of state. So far we have had the Bradenton Reuban, Drago’s Cuban, The Shipwreck, and The Miami. I’m sure I’m missing something with the number of trips we have made. I’m hoping to get my timing right at least once so we can try their Guava Pastries. They are always sold out when we get there. That tell me they much be a big hit. If you would like to expand you palate have Drago make you one of his soda drinks. What ever tickles his fancy. He hasn’t gone wrong with us. Drago knows how to treat his customers & makes you feel at home. Food is excellent! Just enough food to feel you up, but go hungry or you may be taking a bag home. After writing this review, we may have to make a trip to Drago’s very soon.

What a great spot! My family and I came here at around 3 pm on a Tuesday afternoon. After looking for something close by and seeing Drago’s had 5 stars we had to check it out. We were warmly greater by Drago first thing and his stories and jokes kept coming the entire time we were there. He was the only person working that day although I got the feeling he would normally have 2 others with him. Because of that things moved slowly(3 other sets of patrons were in and out for 2-gos while we had our lunch) but we were in no hurry. 3 of us enjoyed his signature Cubans with Mojo pork(sooooo good! Anything with the pork would have been fantastic). I had a watermelon soda which was refreshing and delightful. I would definitely recommend Drago’s to anyone in the area(or even if it’s out of the way). The food was wonderful and Drago’s larger than life personality made the whole experience a highlight of our family vacation. Thank you Drago!

We always check Unilocal when we’re traveling for the«good» places. Well, this place was a winner! We walked in and the owner was behind the bar. He greeted us, shook our hands and asked where were from. Hopefully we don’t look like tourists! LOL! We ordered iced Cuban coffees and they were so good that we ordered one more and shared it. The owner also made a small dish of pork with jasmine rice and some plantain. It was delish! Wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy his hospitality!!!

Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the Bradenton area! The owner is extremely friendly and made me feel welcome to stay as long as I needed to. I told him I was here for a job interview and he gave me free ice cream for some luck and told me that if I didn’t get the job, that he’d hire me himself. Just an overall nice guy. As for the food, I got the Sicilian, and thought it was outstanding! I’m not much of a sandwich guy when I go out to eat, I would definitely come back here to try another one of his sandwiches. Great food, great atmosphere! If I get the job, I’ll definitely stop by for lunch regularly. Highly recommend!

This is such a cute little place! The owner, Fernando Drago, is extremely friendly and talkative. He wants to know his customers, asking you where you’re from and what you do. My husband and I ordered 2 Cortaditos(double Cuban espresso with sugar and steamed milk) and we were very impressed. Delicious, creamy, with just the right amount of sweetness. Food wise my husband got an egg sandwich and I got a croissant with ham and cheese. It took forever for the food to be ready, because the owner was so busy making coffees for the seemingly regular customers who were coming in. When we did get our food it was an egg and cheese croissant that was delicious and greasy and unfortunately still a little cold in some spots. Overall a tasty joint with some old school décor and a funky owner. But don’t try and come for a quick stop — it’s more of a leisurely joint. Also I think the hours for this place are a little off. They say 9am — 9pm every day but we stopped by at 8:30 on a Friday night and it was closed. And then when we arrived after 10am on Saturday the door was still locked and it took a while for the kitchen to get going.

Thanks to Unilocal,we stopped here while on our way to the beach and we’re so glad we did. Like a previous reviewer stated, this is indeed a special place! The café is casual and located in a great old historic brick building. The décor is really neat and we loved the vibe! The owner was very accommodating and offered to make something special for our kids. We all got Cuban sandwiches and they were delicious — over stuffed with meat and warm and toasty… not like your ordinary Cuban. The side of black beans was delicious and was a nice touch — left me wanting more! Café con leches were good and our son was excited to have a Coke in an old fashion glass bottle. We’ll definitely be back! Would love for him to open a second location in Tampa. Just read the owners bio, and it’s clear that he’s following his passion!

Me and my husband are in Bradenton, FL for a Pirates spring training game. After the game, we were hungry and had no idea where to go. This place had a bunch of 5-star reviews on Unilocal so we went. All those 5-star reviews are for very, very, very good reason. I am very impressed. The owner himself, Drago, is one of the friendliest, nicest, and most accommodating human beings I have ever met. The sandwiches he makes are INCREDIBLE. I mean — just so so good. Wow. Then we had ice cream after the sandwiches which was also terrific. If you’re like us and looking for somewhere to eat after a game at McKechnie Field, go to Drago’s. Or if you’re just looking for somewhere to eat in general, go to Drago’s.

AWESOME place! Nice old timey feel. The staff truly does make you feel right at home. The CUBAN was insanely good! Their mojo pork was so good! Definitely a gem. I will be back for sure. I was also told their ice cream is awesome. I have not tried that… YET. Definitely stop off here for a bite.

Every once in a while, I stumble across a place that just amazes me from the start. This is one of those places. This review might be a bit on the long side, but stick with me because it is absolutely deserved. My wife and I walked in at about 7:45pm to a friendly greeting. He asked us if we were in for ice cream, but we informed him we were there for sandwiches. He told us that the kitchen had just closed, but he followed that with a question. «Are you hungry?» We obviously responded with a «yes! But if your kitchen is closed it’s perfectly okay! We can come back another day.» He simply said«No, no, no. You guys are family! You aren’t leaving without full stomachs!» This is just one of the many ways the owner(Drago himself) makes you legitimately feel like you’re part of his family. We had multiple conversations during our meal, but they were natural and unforced. He’s just a really friendly, kind person. The food. My oh my, the food. I’ve stated in past reviews that I’m a huge sandwich junkie. This particular sandwich, the Caliente Cuban, may have been the very best I’ve ever had. That is NOT an overstatement. It’s fresh, filling, and made with tons of effort. Most sandwiches come in either a 6 inch size or 12 inch. Some are available as 8 inches. The 6 inch Cuban filled my empty stomach with no space left! The sandwiches are served with potato sticks which is a really unique touch. After we finished eating and giving dozens of compliments about how amazing the food was, Drago came over with two large spoonfuls of their ice cream. Of course it was delicious! My wife and I promised him we would come by again soon. Like tomorrow. Do yourself a favor guys and girls, go eat here. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to speak with Drago. It was just a fantastic experience from beginning to end. This is without a doubt our new favorite place to eat.

I highly recommend this place. Drago’s will make you feel like you’re a part of the family. The owner is welcoming and will go out of his way to serve you. He’s just a wonderful, kind-hearted person! Besides the service, the food is amazing! Best Cuban sandwiches and café con leches you will find in the Bradenton/Sarasota area! Also, get a chance to roam around the restaurant. There’s so many cute and eclectic art/paraphernalia! Overall, a hidden gem that I can see myself becoming a regular!
