Nice atmosphere for a Peruvian Japanese restaurant. They ran out of sushi when we got there about an hour before closing time. However, that was no problem at all as we were in it for some real food and main dishes. For the ceviche, I could give that ten stars alone for as tasty as it was. Tried some main dishes including the Arroz Chaufa Beef and Tacu Tacu with Bistec. Both of them were good and had an uncommon taste, giving it a pleasing taste. Although we were full, we could not leave without dessert. The fried ice cream with cake was delicious too. Definitely a great way to end this first time experience. Service was awesome as well. I would definitely recommend eating here.

This is the best sushi place in bradenton and sarasota. We love it! We ordered the Papa Huancaína which was soooo good with the green sauce which is made with made peruvian yellow pepper. Omg the inca cola is the imported soda and smells sweet like banana syrup for snow cones. For dinner we had 3 sushi plates. The portions are HUGE for sushi. The only one i had the time to take a picture of was the delicious spicy twin roll. The rock and pop roll is very creamy and oh so good. And the Maemi Dynamite roll is why we came. Simply amazing with fresh ingredients. We will be back for sure. :)

AMAZING!!! We were really tired tonight and wanted to try something different, tasty, and affordable. This joint is not only the best sushi we have had in Sarasota, it is probably one of the best restaurants we’ve been to since moving to Florida a couple years ago. The eclectic mix of Peruvian and Asian dishes is really unique and highly enjoyable! We are definitely coming back and we are recommending to friends and family!

The owners were very nice and helped in making selections. The regular mixed ceviche was good but the white fish was unremarkable. Better for a nice lunch, but still a little pricey. Entrees were fine. They turned down the blaring TV, but it’s never a good feature for a serious dining experience.

Did you know that Peru has a large Japanese community? I sure didn’t, but the lovely owners are Japanese Peruvians and they explained the cool fusion that has come of it! I had the fish ceviche which was hugely portioned and delicious. So fresh it was practically still swimming!

Great deals on food and mimosa. The Gupta dumplings and Tallarin con vegetables was excellent and lots of veggies. Great service and prices. Only downside is the acoustics.

Just time for lunch today. I had the fish soup and it hit the spot. Good variety of seafood and tasty broth with just a hint of heat. Topped this off with eel sashimi that was excellent; it reminded me of my trips to Japan. The patrons next to me were having ceviche and it looked wonderful… next time! Only weakness was iced tea, which was indeed, weak. Place is small, clean with friendly folks

Food was definitely interesting. I had the lunch special raw fish ceviche, it was something quite different but nice. My girlfriend had the lo mein chicken, It had great flavor to it. I also ordered albacore sashimi and a philly roll. Our server was quick and attentive, kind of quirky but not a bad thing. Only thing I can critique is that the cut of the fish seems rushed and sloppy. And the rice on the sushi roll wasn’t tightly wrapped, rice was Falling apart of the philly roll. Portions were a bit small but still great. Maybe it’s because of it was the lunch portion. Couple little critiques but nothing that would keep me from here. Will definitely be back!

If you love authentic Peruvian cuisine and sushi, this is the restaurant for you! What an amazing combo! I wasn’t very hungry, so I had the Leche de Tigre and the Huancaina roll. My gosh!!! Leche de Tigre is an amazing ceviche with the perfect spicy kick and balanced with corn kernels for a different texture. Sooooo good! The Huancaina roll is absolutely amazing; the calamari was perfectly fried, and the Huancaina sauce made to perfection. The personnel is extremely friendly, and you can tell they love what they do. Next time I’m in the Sarasota area, I’ll bring my family for a delicious experience!

Maemi is a family-run Peruvian and Japanese sushi bar, tucked away in a shopping plaza off of University Boulevard. On both of my visits I ordered the sashimi and sushi rolls. The sushi is pretty good, but I am not a big fan of mayo, cream cheese or tempura so I don’t find most of the rolls very appealing. On our most recent visit I ordered the Guerrero Roll with spicy tuna, avocado, jalapeño and cilantro. The roll was topped with habanero fish egg and spicy mayo. I was hoping I wouldn’t notice the mayo, but unfortunately the roll was covered in mayo so it was hard to avoid. On a positive note, the sashimi is excellent and super fresh. My knowledge on Peruvian food in nonexistent, but this appears the route to go. On my next visit to Maemi I plan to try the Peruvian food.

Great sushi and very friendly, personable service. Made my 4th visit this week… I took the whole family. My daughters devoured a delicious 7 rolls of novel sushi rolls in 6 minutes. The sushi here is THAT good! I hope to return every time I’m in Sarasota.

Just got here from Silicon Valley and walked around near my hotel looking for a place to eat. I had Arroz Chufa Special and it was delicious. Chicken beef shrimp and other seafood. I added the hot sauce. Excellent. It added great flavor. Sangria was delicious. Go there!

The Food was wonderful! Really it was delicious. The service is why I rate this place 2 stars. Neither server had anything resembling a sense of humor, nor the emotional faculty to produce a smile. They were definitely intoxicated. Anyone who has been around someone who is impaired trying to hide it knows what I mean. Every interaction with the staff was awkward. My family(4) were the only patrons and yet more often than not we had to wait on the waiter or make an effort to be tended too. They must’ve known that the service was akin to a North Korean soup Kitchen because the included the«gratuity» on the bill, and made it clear. «Gratuity» is a defined term. Yes the bill said gratuity but I paid for«ransom».

Last night I had the pleasure of trying the third or fourth Peruvian restaurant out of the dozen of them in Sarasota. Yes, I know the address says Bradenton, but its more Sarasota than Bradenton(if you lived here, you’d agree). I thoroughly enjoyed it and loved the concept(Japanese/Peruvian fusion). However, I thought Inkanto was better, and I cannot rate this one as high as that. I have also had better sushi in Sarasota. This was a trip with my lovely lady and dearest mother. They both went sushi, and so did I, but as an appetizer. I wanted Peruvian, but had to try the sushi, too, with the Peruvian flair. I went with the Peruvian Special Roll — shrimp and grouper tempura with Peruvian spicy sauce and avocado. First, props for the portion size — 10 pieces to this roll and while there was probably too much rice, there was also a lot of filling. This was a big roll, and entirely too much for an appetizer, but I’m tough and fat… okay, I’m a pansy and fat, so I kept going. Taste wise, it wasn’t too spicy — I expected more of a kick. The sauce was a cream based sauce, which was a bit strange. That said, it was very good. I liked that it wasn’t anything you would be able to get in any regular Japanese or sushi restaurant, and a lot of their specialty rolls were like that. Since i was full, it seemed like a good time to move on to my entrée — Tacu Tacu with Secu. Braised beef with a cilantro sauce and mixed beans and mixed rice. My complaint with this entrée was that they seriously overdid the beans and rice. The beef was 4 nice sized pieces of beef, but it was like the side dish compared to the beans and rice. I enjoyed the meal and if you like Peruvian food, then you will like this. However, I probably wouldn’t get it again. As mentioned, there was too much side dish and not enough main course, and the menu has way too many things to try for this to be a go-to option. If you order it, you will like it, but I have a feeling there is better on the menu. Don’t be discouraged dear readers. While this may not seem like a glowing review, this was definitely a 4 star meal. I thoroughly enjoyed it — I just think the menu very likely has better options than what I ordered and am looking forward to coming back and finding out.

Lucky for us our original restaurant choice was closed so we decided to stop in on a whim. I cannot express how completely PERFECT our experience was at Maemi from start to finish! Do not let the strip mall setting fool you as this is no typical strip mall restaurant. From the second we walked in, we were immediately greeted and welcomed by both the staff and the clean and well-designed interior. The menu is well planned with an amazing variety of dishes for every taste that includes both raw and cooked selections. We started with the vegetable tampura which was pefectly prepared and with no access grease to speak of. We ordered the cebiche, a Philadelphia roll, octopus sushimi, flying fish row and made a special request for a sushi roll fish substitution which they were more than happy to accommodate. I have not had sushi this fresh and beautiful in quite some time. Both quality of taste and appearance were equally matched. The Ceviche alone will be hard for me not to order during future visits! YUM… So fresh and lightly citrusy but yet spicy! I can’t wait to go back!

Hidden amazing gem! If you haven’t been shame on you! So clean and fresh. It’s hard to choose a dish to try when they all look amazing. My wife and I shared 2 entrees and a few sushi orders. The BEST we have ever had. And we have had a lot. This will be our monthly go to for date night.
