I cannot say enough about how much I love this restaurant, specifically their $ 5(mostly) happy hour menu! It’s such a great deal! It’s served M-F until 7pm Sat until 6 and Sun all day — in the bar only but outside too in warmer months. It’s such an amazing deal and the food is so good! The service is great too!

Pizza is best around, and can’t beat half price pizza at the bar. Very good wines to choose from and has a family atmosphere that’s welcoming. Very quiet during week but nice

Went here a few years ago, didn’t have a great experience but heard the happy hour was good and decided to give it another go. My wife and I sat at the bar and had a couple of craft beers; an Ommegang Rare Vos and a perennial winner, Kane Overhead. All the happy hour food is $ 5. We ordered a pizza and it was very good. My wife had cavatelli and broccoli that she really liked, and I had the meatball sliders. Basically the slider was a large meatball halved covered with tomato sauce and mozzarella. The meatball sauce and cheese were very good. My only complaint is that it came on a hamburger roll. Yeah, I know sliders come that way, but if only it came on hard crust Italian bread it would have been so much better. There are lots of happy hour food choices and is well worth going especially on a weeknight. Uva now gets an additional star from my last review.

Came her & decided on happy hour apps instead of a full dinner. We sat at the bar & shared a bar pie(meatballs & mushrooms), cavatelli & broccoli, & meatball sliders. All were quite good & came out nice & hot. For $ 5 a piece(plus an additional $ 3 for toppings on pizza) we really couldn’t go wrong. Nice atmosphere & a bit older crowd on this weeknight. They have a couple of decent craft beers on tap that pleased hubby. I had a Pinot Noir house wine which was not very good but then tried the Jargon Pinot, a much better choice. We had to ask for menus which I thought a bit odd & we were only offered happy hour menus but I was happy with the experience overall. Want to go back for a regular dinner.

We had a wonderful meal on a Saturday night. The service was good, the food delicious. We had four different dishes and everyone was happy with their choice.

Came here last night(groupon) with my girlfriend, it was her birthday so I had made reservations with a special request of bringing over a slice of cheese cake with a candle at the end of our dinner. I was blown away at how nice the staff was at accommodating the whole thing. The food was excellent. We had the lamb chops and filet mignon. The desert was delicious too. We had the Italian cheese cake which was brought over at the tune of happy birthday. I will definitely be back!

They try hard and it shows. The bread before the meal is fantastic as is the garlic basil purée that accompanies it. I haven’t had any exemplary meal here but they have never disappointed either. Very consistently above average so I keep going back when I can’t get a restaurant reservation in asbury

I don’t even want to give this ¼ star. The owner is rude… rude…rude. He needs a lesson on how to run a business. I wouln’t send my worst enemy to eat at UVA.

Not sure why people give bad reviews. My girlfriend and I sat outside and got great service. I had the bolognese with home made pasta which was superb and I’m a tough judge on sauces. The menu looked very interesting and I’m sure I’ll be back to try more. A little over priced which is why I’m giving it a 4 but I’ll be back for sure. Sangria was delicious too!

Only 1 star because I can’t do zero. Rude and bad food. Never use the catering service. Had a large event that they ‘forgot’ about. Wouldn’t do anything to accommodate other than ‘do you still want the order?’

Great happy hour with five dollar tapas for lack of a better word. Drinks strong enough. They have no idea of a buy-back. Disappointing!

Went for the $ 30 app, dinner and dessert offer. Food was ok. But I would of been angry paying the normal prices that were listed on the menu. Incredibly over priced for the so-so food which was served. We had a very nice server. During our dinner, a large angry man, who I can only assume was the owner, came out and started yelling at our server in front of us. We felt awful for him as it seemed he was doing a good job. The owner obviously has no class to reprimand an employee in front of customers. On this alone, I won’t be coming back.

I guess the only reason for them offering groupons was so that their wait staff would have customers to look down on. My wife and I went on Monday night. We had as per the restaurant’s instructions on the groupon made a reservation. When we arrived the place was dead and the person I talked to on the phone hadn’t even bothered to write the reservation down. When it came time to place our order we ordered the Garlic Shrimp Appetizer Jumbo Shrimp simmered with a Basil, Garlic and Fresh Tomato Sauce Served in a Pagano Bread Bowl a Favorite for over 20 years @17.95 It sounded very good. To our surprise there was no bread bowl at all. What we got were 5 shrimp and a fairly nondescript sauce served on a dinner roll sliced in half which I can’t imagine being a «Favorite for over 20 years». Not even remotely worth the price they charged. Then we ordered the Nonna Pagano Pizza topped with Ricotta cheese, Homemade Meatballs and Mozzarella cheese, laced with our Terrific Tomato sauce. @16.95 It was very good, but for some strange reason this caused the 50ish bald headed waiter some sort of discomfort as he rolled his eyes and disdainfully repeated our order back to us. He never once came back to us to check on how we were doing, offer my wife a refill on her water or myself another beer. I guess ordering pizza somehow made us not worthy of any further attention on his part. When we finished we asked that our remaining slices of pizza be put in box. When we got home we found that he had piled the slice on top of each other in a small styrfoam box which rendered them inedible. My wife and I are retired and we live on a fixed income. We didn’t buy the $ 40 groupon so that we could go order a $ 100 worth of food. We always tip 20% of the entire amount on the check, not just the groupon value. That’s how we roll and we often return to the good restaurants without having a groupon. Not this time.

Terrible customer service and courtesy by the owner. We made a reservation for a party of 14 in a private section of their restaurant. We needed the extra space bc we had a wheelchair and two strollers, which the restaurant was aware of. First, we had to ask to unlock the hanicapped entrance. Second, we were placed in the middle of the loud restaurant at a long table. We were promised two round tables. The owner was rude, unsympathetic and told us she gave away our section to a party of 20. We weren’t informed of the move. WIth all the great Italian restaurants in the area, go to Citricos or Giamanos. This place lost my business and the other 13 people in our parties business.

A nice local Restuarnat albeit a bit expensive to frequent often for the type of food. Calamari is excellent and salads are good too. Lamb chops were delicious! My friend had the pork chop saltibucco and loved it. The Oreicette(sp) with sausage and broccoli Rabe was good but not worth $ 26. Old school waitress who we had in the Past was great. Owners– I can see you increased your prices, it’s going to be difficult for locals to support you in the off season.

This is a review for the Sunday breakfast. I came here with a friend because the place we wanted to go had an hour wait and we were just too hungry and hungover to wait. It was a sunday and I needed breakfast food. This place had a brunch sign out front and no wait. The service was terrible, literally among the worst service I’ve had to date. When we first got here, the hostess was sitting at a table eating with friends. We didnt even realize she was the hostess until we went inside to try and get service and we were sent back out to her. Once we sat it took about 10 minutes for someone to come get our drinks and order. The food came out pretty fast, but nothing was particularly good but it wasn’t terrible. We got the biscuits with gravy, the ricotta pancakes, and the eggs with tomato sauce. We also got chocolate milk, which was weak and coffee, which we had to as multiple servers to get out 1 refill 20 minutes after we finished our first cup. One server even passed with the coffee and didn’t even give us a glance. When we finally got our check, it wasn’t picked up for another 10 – 15 minutes when I had to flag down the server again. If the food was great, I would go back even if the food was terrible. Since neither the food or service was acceptable, I’ll be waiting the hour for breakfast at the place I love next time.

After several months have gone by, since my prior review, we realize that we have gone here more often than any other place around indicates that Pagano’s UVA is special for us indeed. It’s amazing how many nice people from the area we have met and are now friendly with. Anthony Pagano and his mom are both hands on with their business, which is a good thing and all of their staff go out of their way to please their customers. This is witnessed by the fact that the regulars keep coming back for more week after week. Their food continues to be consistently delicious as well. Bottom line: If their is a Cheers here at the Jersey shore — this is it!
