Delicious tacos. Friendly staff. Cool atmosphere. Our appetizer was at the table as soon as we sat down, chips with 3 dipping choices. We had the Wipeout, Baja, and Voodo Tacos. The flavors were on point and the portions were very good. The baja sauce is a creamy deliciousness and the voodoo sauce has a flavorable kick.

I was craving Mexican but after a long rainy day I just wanted food and noticed Jimmy Hulas. It turned out to be my lucky day. I got some of the best guacamole and fish tacos I have had in a long time. So along with the land shark beer this girl is leaving full and ready for her return visit!

Found this place on Unilocal and was not disappointed. You stand in line to order, grab a seat(if you’re smart, get a friend to snag a table while you order — this place is busy!) and they bring the food to the table in a few minutes. Service is friendly and helpful, though the line to order takes a bit. We got an assortment of tacos, fries and the corn. The corn was the best, and the pork street taco was the best pork taco I’ve ever not wanted to share with my husband. This is a great place for a fun, casual date or to bring the kids. Clean and laid back atmosphere and live music that *isn’t* soul crushingly loud. Can’t wait to go again!

Had the Epic… delish! The zucchini fries were a great change from potato fries, light and fresh. The chicken Caesar was tasty too. We’ll be back.

Was there first week they opened on Thursday. Voodoo taco was best taco I’ve ever tasted! The Baja was my other choice and if I hadn’t had the voodoo taco first I’d have said this was my best ever! Service format is very similar to Tijuana flats with your ordering at a counter much like Panera, Newks, all better pizza places popping up, and a variety of others, and then you grab a table armed with a number and food is delivered tool you. One difference in the model is Panera where you have to pick a table and then still go back and get your food. At Hula’s, they bring it out and ours was brought out very quickly. Kids loved the burgers, wife loved her Malibu and Street tacos! Can’t begin to say enough about the great food! Atmosphere was fun, laid back and having an affection for the islands, key west, I liked that ambience a lot. Someone asked me what it was like and I said, island themed with Hawaiian infused flavored that will make you want to come back. Next time I’m coming at night and adding in a sampling of their craft beers! If your looking for amazing food, perfect atmosphere and a great staff of genuine people working together, check this place out and often.

I’ve had my eye on this place since it opened. Jimmy Hula’s is a small chain of restaurants with only 8 open now, and a ninth opening soon. We came for lunch, and shared the Gnarly Nachos, Zucchini fries, three tacos(Wipeout, Luau, & Pork Street), and the Juan Jovi Burger. My only disappointment was with the burger, and it’s not really that big of a deal. They advertise all burgers are made with fresh patties, pressed flat, and cooked medium. All true, except mine was cooked well-done. No big deal, it was still a good burger. I liked how the Gnarly Nachos had toppings through and through. There are lots of different tacos to choose from, and the ones I’ve had so far are very delicious. The zucchini fries were delicious, and thankfully, not over breaded. To drink, they have Pepsi products, good sweet tea, & an assortment of beers. The seating was very comfortable in our booth. This Restaurant is located in a nice, newly remodeled, clean building with an interesting tropical theme, and a pet friendly patio! The atmosphere is casual, fun, and relaxing. Overall, it’s a nice establishment with good food, and good service. I’ll be back, & I recommend checking this place out.

Good food but overpriced. This is an Orlando tourist chain and they have tourist prices. $ 30 for 2 people for lunch is a bit much.

Love! The jimchurri steak bowl. I was so yummy. The crema on top is delicious. We also the steak street taco, spicy with siracha. The crispy fish is so crunchy. The fish by itself was not very flavorful but the sauces make the tacos. The steak luau taco meat was well seasoned. All of our tacos were fresh. No soggy shells. Only down side was it was very busy with limited seating. Will definitely return… maybe tomorrow.

Thrilled to have a place like this in Brandon. Food was delicious, and they don’t spare on the portions. We tried the crack’d corn and mojo fries as apps, and the voodoo, Malibu, bangin’ beef, and standard tacos. Great taste! As great as the food is the service: friendly, accessible(even though the place was packed the entire time), above and beyond type people. Don’t forget to ask questions about how to do things, but the laid back atmosphere is flawless. Buckets of 5 beers for $ 10, $ 12, and $ 15. Beers range from bud light, corona, land shark, and more to cigar city, coppertail, Sierra Nevada, and more. Can’t wait to come back!

Cute and clean this restaurant sits where the old Estella’s Mexican restaurant used to be. The building’s been totally changed into a beachy surfy(just made that word up) shacky(that one too) type joint with lots of light and ample seating both inside and outside. So here’s the deal… walk in, grab a menu, grab a seat, decide what you want, walk up to the counter, place your order, grab your number, sit back down and wait for your food to be delivered to your table. Easy, peasy, fish taco squeezy… wait…ewww…that didn’t sound as funny as it did in my head but you get the point… placing your order is no big Kahuna(see what I did there? OK I’ll stop). So let’s talk food. The menu is pretty cool with lots of stuff I haven’t seen offered around here before like the Fire Roasted Avocado for example. After some thought the hubs and I ordered the mojo fries– shoe string cut, hot and crunchy with a really nice sweet and salty like dry seasoning and creamy mojo dipping sauce and the aforementioned Fire Roasted Avocado– one haas avocado cut in half, pitted and grilled then drizzled with Siracha sauce and lightly sprinkled with queso fresco on a bed of chips. Both starters were tasty, well cooked and seasoned. I’ll be copying the avocado dish at home for sure… really great idea for an appetizer dish. For our entrées I ate the Voodoo fish taco– beautifully fried fish, fresh cabbage and pineapple salsa in a grilled and tasty flour tortilla AND(oink…oink) a Killer fish taco– grilled fish with cheese and cabbage. The hubs ordered The Luau– deliciously marinated steak with cabbage and topped with a pineapple salsa as well as a Johnny Utah– BBQ pulled pork, pickles, mac-n-cheese, and bacon… wtf is NOT to like about that. All tacos come with chips. My very descriptive husband said that his food was«really good» and there was nothing left on his plate so… there ya go. The only thing I could’ve done without is the salsa. It did have a really nice fresh tomato flavor but it really lacked in seasoning and had absolutely zero heat to it… bland. Lastly I’ll mention the service which was both annoying and super cute all at the same time. Annoying because we were asked by no less than 4 different people at least 7 different times how we were doing and how our food was. Super cute because you could tell they really wanted to serve and make sure everyone was happy and didn’t need anything. It bordered on commical and my husband and I started to rock, paper, scissor on who was going to answer the next sweet girl who came a calling. I think they should coordinate… that’s all. I’d rather be asked too many times than not at all so it’s my only negative but not really. That’s it… that’s a wrap… I gotta go take a nap now cuz I’m full.

Reading other Unilocal reviews, I was prepared for the concept like Panera. Order your food, sit down. Food appears. That said within three minutes of sitting down, my taco plate was on the table. The food concept ideas pretty easy too. Tacos, Burgers, Sandwiches, Salads, Bowls, etc. Tacos, you choose between surf or turf, then choose your finishes. I chose the Killer(Cabbage, Jack Cheese, and Habanero Boss Sauce). Don’t let the habanero scare you away it’s pretty tame, but had killer flavor. Next was the Voodoo(Lettuce, Pineapple Mango Salsa, Voodoo Sauce). And finally, the Baja(Cabbage, Jack Cheese, Pineapple Mango Salsa, Baja Sauce), and rounded the meal out with Mojo Fries and a Darwin Brewing Pirata Pils. The taco, for the price, is very large. It is stuffed with a nice portion of fish and trimmings. Served over warm tortilla chips which comes in handy to scoop up spillage afterward! Flavors are big. You will not be disappointed. About time we got a place to get a good, no… GREAT fish taco in Brandon. Looking forward to making Jimmy Hula’s my regular place! Update 2÷1÷2016: I’ve checked in here a few more times and wanted to add a couple of things. I’ve been sampling as much as I can on the menu. What can I say? I’m addicted to this place!!! Let me add this, when looking at the menu and you see«Fish Taco» if you’re not a fish eater, don’t be scared. Try it. Their fish is some of the most neutral fish I’ve ever tasted(or not, if you will). If you don’t, you’ll be cheating yourself out of some excellent culinary opportunities! If you stick with the turf side of things. I’ve only had the steak offerings,(Wipeout, and Steak Jimichurri) and they are absolutely fantastic!

The tacos were amazing! It kind of has a munchies 420 twist but in a taco. I definitely recommend going there if you haven’t checked it out already. 100 thumbs up!

Came here today to try it out and will definitely be back. Concept(order food, sit down, display order number, food brought to table) was explained as soon as we walked in. We were also told we could sit down first and order once we chose what we wanted. The menu is pretty simple, but lots of options. Was excited to try the fish tacos since I don’t think anyplace around here has good ones. I got the Malibu, blackened, and it was very flavorful, and pretty filling for me. My daughter got the shrimp po’boy, which is served on Cuban bread(too much bread). The shrimp was good, but the voodoo sauce was a little spicy for her kid palate(I thought it, was very flavorful, and barely spicy). We also ordered the coleslaw, which is, I think, sour cream based. I normally prefer vinegar based coleslaw, but this was very good. It had, a nice hint of cilantro as well. We also trued the mojo fries with lava sauce. The lava sauce izxa sweet sauce(not spicy) and the fries have a lime salt of some sort on them. Dipped in the sauce they are good, but by them self they had too much of a citric acid taste for me. My daughter had a shaved ice for dessert and enjoyed it — typical shaved ice. Total bill, with 2 soft drinks was $ 25 Service was excellent. For the person who mentioned in their review the issue about having to get up and order multiple times if they wanted more food, we did not have that issue. The server took any additional order at the table, rang it up and we paid from the table. However, I could see how a group who stays for awhile and orders multiple things could benefit from being able to run a table tab. We also observed the manager(owner?) Going to each table to ask about the food and service. Like any new restaurant, it will take some time to turn things into a well oiled machine. But I think they are on their way, and the open air concept will be a hit in warm weather. I really hope this business makes it.. Brandon is notorious for failed small businesses, and I for one am sick of mostly fast food or box restaurant options here.

Walked into a cool luau style atmosphere & décor. Note to those that don’t know– u pick up a menu & go str8 to the order counter to place ur order, then you sit down with ur number & ur food is brought out. We weren’t aware & kinda stood there for a min… until a staff member explained the concept to us. So onto the food, I decided to venture out & try 3 tacos from the Turf section: Johnny Utah-which is different w/BBQ pork & mac & cheese: it wasn’t bad but for my tastebuds it wasn’t great either, not sure exactly what it was but I’m not a fan. Banging Beef-is ground beef, queso, lettuce, onion, & baja sauce. I didn’t see or taste the queso & the ground beef was a little on the salty side. The Street Taco– this was my favorite of the 3. I ordered the taco w/chicken & it comes with guac, cilantro, onion, cotija, & Sriracha. The Sriracha sauce has a quick but good flavor. I’ll def go back & try this one again plus some new ventures. The chips & guac are also very good. They only had diet Dr. Pepper so that was a lil disappointing but overall service, cleanliness, & atmosphere was Grrrreat!

Great food! Great atmosphere! friendly staff ! The cool laid back island vibe made me feel like I was back in the Virgin islands. I would recommend to anyone. I was thoroughly impressed with the quality, flavor and unique approach they had to the simple food we call the taco. Simply put«Delicious» !!! I had the Voodoo, Wipe Out and the Steak Chimichuri and I loved them. Only suggestion I have is, it would have been nice if they had table top sevice and full liquor.

Bangin beef taco was pure taco perfection. We also had the Voodoo and Baja fish tacos which were very fresh and tasty. The Cole slaw had a nice flavor and was just the right size. While the tacos come wrapped in flour tortillas, they had no problems making our tacos in a lettuce wrap. The serving size for kids was actually quite large, with the option for fresh pineapple and Mac along with a full size taco. Overall, the food is fresh, full of real flavor and the atmosphere is that of a Hawaiian surf shack. Also, they do a bucket of 5 beers for $ 10, which is one heck of a deal.

We came here for a soft open the other day and we really had a fun time and enjoyed the food. We walked in and this restaurant has a nice fun beachy atmosphere. I will comment first on the thing that I personally think is a mistake for this restaurant. The way you order and receive your food is similar to Tijuana Flats and I think personally it should have waiter service. First of all… there are tons of options on this menu. I needed several minutes before I could make a decision on what I was going to get. I feel like this could really back up the line. Also because you can order so much it could really back things up. Then you can order and they have beer and wine(their chardonnay on tap was great!) but IMO they will lose out on alcohol sales because you have to go back up and pay again to get more beer/wine or to get the shaved ice that they serve. Just all in all they need to change the concept to a sit down. OK end that rant on to the food! The food was really good and I look forward to going back. First thing we got was the nachos… they were HUGE! I told my husband, in the future we’re just gonna get those… they were very good and as I mentioned could probably serve 6! Taco wise I had the jimichurri and the voodoo. My husband had the wipeout and one other. I liked my tacos but I tried my friend’s she got the Epic IMO that was MUCH better than the voodoo. We tried the fries too and the zuchinni fries,…OMGTHATBAJASAUCEISAMAZE! I will get some of that when I go back it was so so good! All in all food was good. I really liked the ambiance and everything. Hubs and I will definitely be back!

We had the vodoo, the Wipeout and steak jimmichurri. We also had the zucchini fries. The batter that the fish and fries were coated in was so light and crispy! The lava sauce is so wonderfully sweet and the Baja sauce was so balanced! Come enjoy the atmosphere, let your hair down and laugh!
