Skoops has quickly surpassed other local Italian and Shaved Ice vendors in the area to become our family favorite. It’s to the point that we plan our warm-weather outings around where they’ll be– and they are always out and about at exciting events in the Bay area! The classic lemon has the perfect blend of tart and sweet, and you can tell it was made with real lemons. The berry inspired flavors are all also super refreshing, flavorful, and so good you almost forget that they aren’t full of shady synthetic sugars and freaky fake fruit. If you are lucky enough to stumble across Skoops, don’t pass them by, the best in the Bay!

Why 5 stars? Because it’s just the best ever. — — — I have had an unhealthy addiction to cold, sugary things since my infancy. Popsicles are a weakness of mine… I will eat them until my tongue is raw, if left alone with them. It’s bad. Enter Skoops. Fellow frozen sugar addict, Chris W informs me that they exist and that they happen to be at the Cuban Sandwich Festival that I was at. I went to check them out, and holy God… It’s like a popsicle in ice cream form. I don’t know how to describe it, but what I do know is that I would easily eat a bath-tub sized portion of it if I had the access. I love all that I’ve tried so far, but my favorite flavor is cotton candy. It’s perfection in a cup. I would request this as the dessert for my last meal on death row.

I was introduced to Skoops Italian Ice at the world’s largest food truck rally that was held several months ago. Even though there was a long line and people everywhere the woman working the booth was so nice and was generally interested to see if I liked what I got. I got the lemon flavor and I have to say that it was outstanding. I’ve got something of a frozen ice problem. If I ate as much of it as I wanted I would weigh three hundred pounds. Italian Ice can be hit or miss for me but I loved what I got here. According to their Facebook page they use real fruit and no dyes or high fructose corn syrup. It’s nice to see a local, family owned business doing well and producing a great product like this. They travel around going to festivals, weekend markets, etc. I check their Facebook page to see where they are going to be located next. They are worth following!
