Food is great, service can be ok … You go here for the yummy sushi it’s pretty casual, laid back and sometimes loud. Sometimes easier to just get take out. But that’s our opinion.

Was craving some sushi for lunch. Wait staff was nice, My wife played it safe and got teriyaki chicken while I ordered a Hannah roll and Ninja beef. Teriyaki chicken was really juicy and soft without being chewy. The Hannah roll had a sweet green sauce on top which was something new. The ninja beef was marinated well, the rice wasn’t undercooked which I’ve seen at some places. Definitely recommend.

Reasonable prices, great food; we have never been disappointed. My husband and I have been going here for years and this place is the best! The food is always fresh and the service, while not the fastest, is excellent. The food takes time to prepare as everything is made fresh. Try the TNT Mussels, Spider Roll and Screaming Orgasm(some of our favorites).

The sushi is always fantastic and the rest of the menu is good too. I did not offer a 5 star because the service is hit or miss. If the owner is in the service is amazing, when she’s not you can tell the difference right away. Slower to visit your table, have to ask for things twice. I still recommend people try this place because the sushi is that good.

Sushi Ninja used to be hands down the best sushi restaurant in Brandon BUT not any more :(not because the other guys in town are doing any better but because Sushi Ninja has gone down. The service and the food are lacking. Their rolls have always been on the expensive side but it was always worth it because of the quality of food and service. Was.

Sushi Ninja is at the top of my list when it comes to sushi restaurants. The sushi rolls are diverse, original, and absolutely delicious. It is a small place, and the staff is fantastic. The waitresses are very friendly and attractive too. The only negative is the price is a bit on the higher side. However, it is well worth it. My personal favorites for rolls are Mt. Fuji and Fish Hawk. However, every roll is above average!

Cute and quaint little sushi joint. Friendly staff and decently priced menu. Tons of sushi options. Food tasted very fresh. My hubby ordered the 21 piece sashimi plate for $ 22(it included soup and salad) and I ordered a bagel roll for $ 7. We really enjoyed our dining experience here and will return again. The only downside was that our food was not brought out at the same time so for a good ten minutes I was starving and watching my husband chow down without me(and my order was much smaller than his too)

This is closer to a 2.5 star review but the good service kept me from giving it a 2. I think a huge redeeming quality about this place is that it has an enormous sushi menu with many interesting options. My absolute favorite is the Bahama cruise which has fried coconut shrimp and is topped with mango and a piña colada drizzle. The price can get very expensive for what I expect. Don’t get me wrong, the sushi tastes great but the ambiance does not reflect the menu price. I also tried the udon noodle soup which was pretty disappointing as it was bland and lacked any special quality. The fried ice cream was not good either, but I have high expectations for fried ice cream so I’m not sure if that is fair(the quality of the ice cream tasted similar to an off-brand vanilla ones they sell in huge quarts at wal-mart). I wish they would put as much attention and quality to their other food items like they do their sushi, if they did that this place could be a solid 4.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for at least 7 years. The fish is very fresh, and there are myriad rolls to choose from. Mimi, the owner, is wonderful. She invents rolls to send to my table when I’m celebrating a birthday or milestone at Ninja. She remembers everyone’s names, occupations, kids, etc. it’s like Cheers with better food.

Very upsetting. Quality is going downhill. Took over a hour to get our food and the rolls were tiny. Not happy. Hopefully this place isn’t losing its charm and good quality.

Sadly I can only review the sprite and the service of said sprite since we sat for 15 minutes without getting further service. The server greeted us nearly immediately, took our drink order and gave us menus. We took about 5 minutes to read all the special sushi rolls(which looked awesome) and decide which 4 we wanted. We also decided our apps and alcoholic drinks(which also looked awesome). We then watched the 2 servers continue to serve the tables around us(maybe 8 tables in the entire place, including us). The server who brought us our sprite came close to our table at least 8 different times but never actually came back to our table to take our order(we were up by the door so it wasn’t like we could just grab her walking by). I watched her serve a new table their drinks, take their order(they arrived after us and were a larger party) then go to the table right behind us and give them their check. She then came back, got their check and cashed them out. Ok, I understand being busy so maybe now that she cleared out that table she would serve us so we waited. YES, she was finally headed back our way and we were going to get to order… then she stops at the now empty table to bus and clean it. REALLY?!? I waited for her to clean it then was going to say something but as soon as she finished, she bolted back into the back. At this point we had waited in excess of 15 minutes after getting our sprite with little more service so I left some cash for the soda and went to Burger Monger. I am very disappointed, I was craving sushi and this place had always had fantastic food but unfortunately that does you no good if you can’t get the food from the kitchen to the table. I doubt I’ll be back as there are many sushi places closer with decent service. Read before you dine:

For starters, the sushi menu is one of the lengthier and more colorful ones I have ever encountered. With names such as the Brandon Roll, Lightning Roll, Crazy Mexican, Seminole, Gator and USF Rolls, Tempura Bagel, Volcano, and Screaming Orgasm the list is as interesting to read as it is to experience. From the simplicity of the Boston Roll(shrimp, cucumber, avocado) to the over-the-top Bloomingdale Roll(escolar, krab, cream cheese, tomato, asparagus, spicy mayo, yellow tail, eel on top, eel sauce, scallion, flying fish roe) there is something here to please everyone. My one grievance is that I simply do not understand the Floridian obsession with cream cheese as a sushi additive and that ingredient is pervasive throughout their offerings. Fortunately the chef’s do not take offense at requests for individual modifications. If you are uncertain what to try, visit mid-week for the lunch specials as they provide a nice slice of their most popular offerings and the portions are quite nice. But Sushi is not all they offer at Sushi Ninja. The Tempura is fried to a nice golden color and the batter is light and flavorful. Their Teriyaki offerings(chicken, beef, salmon) use a home-made sauce recipe and the Katsu is just like momma used to make in the old country(provided your ancestry comes from the Pacific Rim). Together with a flavorful variety of noodle soups(Udon) served in meal sized portions, Sushi Ninja can be a worth a visit even if you are not a fan of sushi. The traditional Japanese beers, a small selection of wine and, of course, Sake are available to refresh your palette between bites. The restaurant itself is small and can feel a bit cramped when packed with diners. However, their location on a corner within the Bloomingdale Square strip mall allows for a good deal of light to enter the comfortable seating area. The décor is a bit over the top for the suburbs, but once you start dining you probably won’t notice what is beyond your taste buds. The menu prices are pretty good, especially considering that Sushi is usually one of the more expensive dining experiences no matter where you go. So, the next time you have a yen for sushi but don’t feel like traveling far, give this local Sushi Bar a try.

Arrived on a Friday afternoon… the day after Thanksgiving. Thankfully there were tables. We were greeted by a young woman from the back of the restaurant who told us to «sit anywhere». Interesting greeting from the rear of the place, but none the less she was pleasant! She brought us our waters and menus and disappeared to fill sauce containers for a bit. We waited for her to return. Ordered was the following for three folks– edamame, two Ninja lunch boxes and Chicken Teriyaki with a salad and brown rice. The salad arrived. Quite typical and looked like a bagged mix with iceberg lettuce and the random purple cabbage and a few onions. The ginger sauce was a bit on the salty side. My compadre’s Miso soups were reported to be delicious, but luke warm. They had preferred them to be a bit hotter. Edamame was edamame! Lightly salted and warm! The food arrived nice and warm. The chicken teriyaki was ok. The veggies were a bit overlooked but the chicken was tender. I am used to teriyaki having more meat than veggies and this dish was more likened to a chicken stir fry rather than teriyaki. The chicken was diced as well. The brown rice was mushy and not as light and fluffy as brown rice typically is that I have eaten. My friends enjoyed their Ninja boxes. Both were chock full of food. There was a plentiful supply of tempura but oddly each box had a fried onion ring… not battered like typical tempura, but perhaps frozen??? Sushi was delicious. All in all we agreed that the food was certainly palatable and filling but nothing outstanding or deserving of high praise. The pricing for lunch was a little on the high side, but we went away full! Pricing– $ 12.50 for each lunch box, $ 9.95 for Teriyaki and $ 4 for edamame. Total before tip was around $ 42.

It’s average. Staff is very friendly. Restaurant is small, quaint ambiance, located in neighborhood shopping center. We ordered Cancun & Mardi Gras Rolls & seaweed salad. It was good. However, I read a misleading, or shall I say a little exaggeration from other reviews describing restaurant as the«best in town!» Well it fooled my daughter and me. When we are craving sushi and the odds are few and far between near Riverview/Sun City/Brandon locations, it comes down to «well what’s it gonna be?!» Between the 2 specially made rolls, the Cancun wins my vote. Kinda over-priced, bill came out to over $ 45 and some change. Tip to restaurant:(If not done already) I went to a Sushi Restaurant up in Tampa, they do a «Happy Hour Mon-Fri, between 5−8pm, charge ½ off special sushi menu & place gets a lot of customers. ;)

Soooo… the sushi that we had here was pretty good. The service and ambiance… meh. The waitress sat at the sushi bar on her phone the entire time we were there. She only came to see us when we looked over at her several times… service is my pet peeve. The sushi that I had was very good though and I was impressed with it. They are over priced as well… like most of the sushi restaurants in the area. I had the crazy ninja roll and my husband had the rock and roll. My roll had tuna on top and it was very fresh. I enjoyed the food. May give it once more to see if the service improves.

Great ambiance, staff, and food! Sashimi were kind of frozen but still delicious. No disappointment at all. Chef even gave us a free special roll. The green tea Mochica ice cream is a must try! The BEST thing on the menu is the sea urchin, freshest I have ever had! Totally worth it! Go Tampa :)

This is, by far, the best place in the area for Sushi. The owner is really sweet and works hard. The selection is good but they custom make whatever you want. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. They’ve even made runner up for the best in Brandon one year. Good quality, a must try.
