Horrible extreme hot food. The servers are oblivious and don’t care that the salsas are so hot that that your lips will burn. !!

Been wanting to try this place for a while because its right across from my wife’s work. 1^st impression was good. On walking in it smelled great and I had high hope because it had the atmosphere of a good authentic Mexican restaurant. Was major disappointed. 1^st of all my waitress couldn’t put her phone down. Her phone was in her hand when she took my order. And she was in it talking when she brought my drink and my food. So the waitress takes my drink order returns takes my food order and walks away. I sat the entire time waiting for my food and she was on the phone at the counter. I tried getting her attention to see if I was suppose to get chips and salsa, but man that phone was her life. Finally when she brought my food, with her phone on her should by her ear I asked am I suppose to get chips and salsa or do I have to order it, she says ok sure and brings some back after I have started eating my food. So I ordered a variety to get a good idea what they are like. 2 corn tortilla beef fajita taco’s, 2 pork tamales and a cheese enchilada diner. 1^st the taco’s were ok. The meat tasted like just plain meat. I don’t think they seasoned it at all; no salt pepper, nothing. The tamales were again ok but I’ve had much better from the freezer of a supermarket. The cheese enchiladas had a great flavor but they were barley warm. The refried beans tasted as if they were directly from a can and just heated and dumped on the plate. Rice was ok. Ate not even half my food. As I’m finishing a young boy dressed as a gaucho now comes out and starts to sing some Mexican songs, and he isn’t bad but it is way to loud. There is no way anyone could possibly enjoy their food with that reverberating off the walls as was apparent by the looks on all the other customers faces. So was the food authentic? well yes but it just wasn’t very good.

I come here frequently. The food is pretty good and it’s cheap. The portions are pretty big too. They are fast as well. Great place to get a quick bite to eat.

My GF and I decided to try Taco Rey again here in Brandon, because we see all the cars going there, every time we pass by it. This experience was far different then my first experience. Service was awesome from our waitress Roxy, who turned out to be from Peru! Peru is well known as a place where UFO’s and Aliens may have visited us in the past, and Roxy was well aware of this, and we talked about it. She was training a young Mexican Girl, who was also very nice. This time, the food was really good, and like before, there was a lot of it. The red and green sauces were great, and no where near as hot as the first time I ate there. In fact, I caught myself wanting a little more heat in the Red Sauce, but that is being really nit picky. Both the rice and refried beans were tasty, and the avacado’s, lettuce, and tomato’s were all fresh as hell tasting.
She had flour, and I had corn tortillia’s, and they were awesome. The steak and chicken was done just right, and had good flavor.
I am glad we decided to give this place another try.

I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. The salsa that comes with the chips was out of a jar and not made in house. I ordered the carne asada. I wasn’t given a steak knife and struggled to cut it. The meat was way over cooked and dry. I took one bite and was unable to chew it and had to spit it back out on my plate. I would have enjoyed eating a piece of leather more. I sent it back and was asked if I wanted another one but just asked for the check. If I could give it a negative 5 stars I would.

Awesome authentic Mexican. Service is ok. The one in Plant City has the salsa bottles which is way better than the individual cups of salsa which they charge you each individual time for when you’re eating there but overall the food is great the service is okay and the prices are exceptional

I enjoy this authentic restaurant however customer service is lacking and the wait can be long. Typically I call my order in because of the wait. The great flavors and reasonable prices keeps me coming back. It’s a nice spot.

Like others have said, the food is good and authentic. This is ideal for lunch or take out.

Okay although the food is really damn good I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place on your quick lunch break. They usually have about one girl working the whole restaurant and she tries her best but it gets pretty busy in there. It’s a good place to come when you’re in no rush bc it will take a little bit of time. Food is pretty good. I honestly love their food just not a fan of the wait time

Food is good, service is poor. There policy for condiments (specifically the hot salsa for the tacos) is per order. If you buy two tacos or twenty tacos you only get two 2oz containers of the hot salsa. They girl there agreed with me that this didn’t make any sense and simply said it was the policy. She then stated that if I did TWO SEPARATE orders she can give me additional salsas at no charge, basically ordering 6 tacos and then ordering another 6 tacos on a separate bill (my order was for 12 tacos)!!! I don’t mind paying for extra salsa if they give you a reasonable amount for the amount of food you order.

Stopped in one day for a quick lunch. Got two of their regular tacos, Carnitas and steak. Both were excellent. Nice and fresh, good flavor, really tasty. I would absolutely come back. Pricing is very reasonble.
