Loved it. What a treat! Ordered an avocado with tuna salad, it was great. half an avocado slightly scooped out, filled with most delicious tuna salad. complemented by fresh spring lettuce as sprouts an delicious piece of baguiette. my boys who were«not hungry» each took half of bread, spread tuna on it and all three of us were super happy with that salad. perfect.

Great coffee and bakery goods! We had chocolate chip cookies, a chocolate covered macaroon and an apricot/oatmeal/nut cookie. Very pleased.

Super nice, relaxing coffee shop. It reminds me of Berkeley-as does the entire town of Brattleboro. Really enjoyed the coffee and pastries.

As always, great service & food! Love the view from the dining area too. They have vegetarian options– we don’t have to request anything special because of our life style which is nice. I do wish they had more comfortable accommodations but the quality of their food far outweighs the hard seats and rocky tables!!! Lol

Very nice small mom & pop bakery. It’s conveniently located on Main Street in the middle of downtown Brattleboro. So after grabbing lunch nearby this bakery makes for a great place to grab dessert. There’s even some seating in the rear of the building to enjoy your tasty treat. Amy’s Bakery is not fancy. It’s not polished. But the selection seemed nice, people were friendly, and from what I tried, my baked goods tasted great.

Can’t remember what exactly it was called, but I got a Ham sandwich with caramelized apples in it. It was unique and pretty good. Looking behind the counter, it didn’t appear to be the cleanest place I’ve ever eaten at. The staff seemed pretty friendly though.

We just stopped in here today on a whim after not here here in a while and it was so warm, delicious and friendly. I had the chicken, garlic, feta and olive tapenade panini and my husband had the tuna and both were perfect and that bread. .oh so amazing totally makes the sandwich. We will be back for sure !

We had a great lunch here… Minestrone soup, salad, delish home made bread, all the butter you want, great coffee… what’s not to like!

Stopped into Amy’s for a quick lunch on our way home from northern VT. We were told the sandwiches were really good. I got the Rueben and it was incredibly delicious. Pressed to perfection and oozing with flavor. She got the ham and swiss with mustard which was really good too. If I am ever in the area again, I would definitely stop by for a repeat on the Rueben.

This place has always been pure gold. The bread is fantastic, the salads are always fresh and delicious, the soups are wonderful. It’s got a wonderful vibe and the tables on the back have a view of the river, which you don’t get many places and Brattleboro since the town has its back to the river. And the prices are not too bad. Overall, a wonderful place… we been coming here for many years.

We found our chicken salad sandwich and Greek salad to be fresh, tasty, and large. It’s nice to have art on the walls and a view of the river. Because the café is popular, we have found that we need to wait for a table, but only for ten minutes or so.

Stopped in on the recommendation of a Vermont country inn. We ordered sandwiches and bought some treats. In a word: outstanding! Great bread for the sandwiches, excellent fresh ingredients, original and tasty. I had a tempeh Reuben which was just wonderful. We had a mini blueberry pie which was also outstanding. The bakery has a nice small area in the back to eat in, with a partial view of the Connecticut River. Staff Re friendly, sandwiches came in a reasonable time. Highly recommended!

This place is always packed. I love their maple latte and their coconut macaroon is to die for. Their sandwiches are good too.

I’m surprised they’ve gotten such great reviews on this site and other sites. When we went in, the staff were very rude and impatient with us. I took my salad back because it had a dead bug and all I got was sass from the woman working there. She rolled her eyes at me for taking it back.

A Unilocal find! Heading home after a weekend get-away we knew we would be in Brattleboro around lunch time. As we searched the street for our address a couple pointed out our destination and told us «yes, good food!» and they were so right! This is not a fancy location, simple and functional. The folks are pleasant and the focus is on the food. This is also a bakery and the aroma’s are great! I went in for a sandwich and tried the fresh onion and red paper pizza, wow! My wife had the soup that was superb! We go to VT when we can and we know now this is an easy stop over and quick place to get a delicious bite to eat.

First thought, the brown sugar tastes of molasses and is awesome, try some straight up. Nice view of River from rear sitting area. Nice folks. The food is of mixed quality. The cake, pictured, was very good. The pie, decent, but not great. Decent coffee, $ 1.75 for bottomless cup in house. The décor is nothing special, but find something you like and enjoy the view for free.

I love the food, always great and always tasty. Pastries, bread, cakes and quiches are ALWAYS excellent. But I have two problems with Amy’s Bakery that always deter me from visiting and giving her my money. 1. The place is dirty. I know someone who has worked there before and they’ve shown me around. It’s cleaned up a bit in the front, but behind the counter, it’s DISGUSTING. Downstairs behind the counter is also a mess and disgusting, considering it is where they store their food supplies and where they cut the loaves of bread… It’s really bad. 2. The owner. I am sure somewhere, she is an awesome person. But she’s definitely odd and a bit rude… Not only is she completely disorganized as an owner but she treats her employees pretty badly. Pay is bad and she has some pretty unrealistic expectations from the employees, especially when she pays them the bare minimum, even when they’ve been with her forever. Her employees are amazing and friendly and willing to bend over backwards for her and they deserve so much more than how she currently treats them… Overall, I LOVE the food at Amy’s. I’ve lived here my entire life and it was always the place to go for coffee and pastries and it still is, it’s the best. But I wish she would clean up her café a bit and reevaluate the way she treats her employees and consider being a better local business… I ALWAYS make sure I tip the counter girls, sandwich people and DEFINITELY the poor bus boys. They deserve more.

When deciding where to eat lunch on our only afternoon in Brattleboro, my hubby and I thought we’d give Amy’s a try. We didn’t want anything too heavy as we had fancy dinner plans, so chicken salad sandwiches sounded perfect. Let me just say, this hit the spot! First of all, the sandwich was huge. I couldn’t even finish it all. But it was wonderfully creamy and dill-y and GOOD. But just FYI, it did not come with a freebie like chips or a pickle. You buy a sandwich, you get just a sandwich. We sat in the back overlooking the river on a beautiful sunny day. Was very restful and peaceful, despite the busy customers.

Was recently on a drive down towards the Berkshires and stopped off in Brattleboro for a break and very happy that I did. Prices are very decent for what you get, especially in contrast to larger cities like Montréal, NYC or Boston, their cupcakes, the parmesan rosemary bread and their hot-cross buns are worth picking up and taking back home with you.

I’ve been stopping by Amy’s for years while visiting Brattleboro. While it’s rarely for a full meal(India Palace has my devotion), I will pop in for coffee, pastry, salad… A bite if it’s a long day in Brattleboro. In the summer I like to sit out back with a friend, a salad to share, a cold drink and a book. After a long day in Brattleboro a coffee and cookie is the perfect accompaniment to the drive back to the east side of the state where I always stay. I’m a little confused by some of the reviews… Amy’s is not a restaurant. Just like a deli or bakery with tables anywhere else: you’re going to order at a counter, seat yourself, carry your own food and clean your own table. If you’re not into that: get your order to go(and take it to McNeill’s to enjoy with a beer). Delicious, fresh, fast!
