Arkham

Calling Arkham a «dive bar» is certainly accurate about its clientele.
This is one noisy bar, what with the air hockey table and the irresponsibly-​loud jukebox. This literally drove the person in the apartment directly above the bar to go to the looney-​bin (haven’t seen him for a few years now), and the apartment across from that one to be semi-​habitable.
If you want a place to show your backside or catch Sunday afternoon football (or both), this is the place to be – there are no other downtown bars (save perhaps McNeil’s, it’s been awhile since I’ve been in there) that open on Sunday early enough to get the 1pm games. If you’re unfortunate enough to need to live in downtown Brattleboro and are even two floors up (the jukebox at night is turned up so loud that those two floors up are disturbed by it), it’s a serious nightmare.
It features a patio so tobacco-​fiends can get their smoke on, continue their drinking and impaired conversation at the same time, as well as a composed bouncer outside the entrance.

Tried this place while visiting from out of town. The bartender was very nice and attentive. However, I have to say that it was a fairly unusual experience — the bar has about 6 bar stools and everyone in there was watching a super old Bruce Willis movie. I felt like I couldn’t talk to my friend bc I didn’t want to disturb the movie watchers. On the plus side, the bartender did let us bring in and eat sandwiches from an outside restaurant, so that was cool.

This place has become a town favorite with a relaxed fun atmosphere where you feel like you can just be yourself. Air Hockey, Pinball, and even a video game all set up for your enjoyment. Great drinks priced reasonably. I actually had my birthtay party here and the owner kept my cake in the fridge for us! Nice friendly service and even an ATM machine if you need it. Also outdoor patio.

I really love it here and have stopped by many times. I love the fact that there is an air hockey table as well as other games. The staff is super friendly and fun to be around. It’s become a habit to come by here on a Sunday and hang out as we watch the game as well as movies (playing at the same time) :)
They have awesome drink specials and it has super cool décor.
I highly reccommend visiting Arkham if you havent yet…

This bar is awesome! Good environment, fast service, CHEAP drinks! They have a great beer selection, and I like that some of it comes in cans. It’s so laid back, you will find all the Brattleboro locals here. I wish they had more seating, but other than that, it’s my new favorite spot!
