Another mediocre sushi place in North OC. However I will give them points for their friendly service and presentable store front. I ordered 2 handrolls and the«sushi bowl». the handrolls were well prepared with a good portion of filling to rice ratio. Fish was fresh too. I was disappointed with the sushi bowl! They used regular hot steamed rice in the bowl and not sushi rice! That’s what let me down the most about it. However the fish in it was fresh and tasted good. I’ll be willing to come back again to try other items and I like the prices for what you are getting.

I really wanted to like this place. The sushi was mediocre, but everything else was a bit disappointing. The katsu was thin and unimpressive.

Read some great reviews so thought I would give it a try. This place is awesome! I went here to get some sushi to go. I had the Philly role. Extra spice tuna rile and a yellow tail hand rike. The fish was really fresh and prices were reasonable, and the staff was great! I will be back again for sure

This was our first visit and we were ready for a hit or miss since our favorite sushi place was closed but our minds were set on sushi. Found this place via Google and decided to try. Place is small a quiet which was perfect and the sushi was really good. I can see why they chose word ART… Each piece looked liked a delicate art work. Fresh fish and done with skill and taste. I think we found our new best sushi place. Def. coming back and hope they will start selling beer in the near future but if they don’t, they still make it up with their skill in taste and presentation. They do have my recommendation! Will be coming back

Ok — so for an eat in dining experience, I think not. My boss and I went for lunch — I am an avid UnilocalER so after reading the reviews I thought lets go have another amazing lunch. My boss loves sushi! PROS:The prices are reasonable and I like that you can order 4pcs, that way you can enjoy a bigger variety. The staff was indeed friendly and parking is decent. Food was ok quality if order is taken correctly. CONS: There was a huge box right when you walk in and it is extremely small establishment. There was a strong fish scent but I chalked it up to(well its a sushi place). I typically don’t do too many reviews but I feel like the stars are misleading — so beware fellow Unilocalsters!!! The waiter/cashier/bus boy/server/YOU GETTHEPICTURE doesn’t speak or understand English very well. He interpreted our order incorrectly and didn’t put in our appetizer order. The soda was flat and there was just a complete disconnect when asking for a cup of ice. There was only two other people having lunch and the cook struggled with multi tasking. We were there about 45 min. because he had to complete the first order before starting ours. Oh yeah — the water had a odd taste to it also.

Just a heads up, this is a really small little place, like 15 or so feet wide. But my first experience was great! My husband and I were in the mood for sushi, so we ordered the Las Vegas roll, and per the server’s suggestion, the Spicy Tiger roll and the Popcorn Lobster roll. All 3 were DELICIOUS! My husband ordered a Coke and our server was very attentive to refilling it when needed. We were taken care of through the entirety of our meal. As an added bonus, it’s really close by! We will definitely be returning!

This place was absolutely amazing! Service and was very fast and the place has a nice homey feel to it. The lunch special is a steal and they even gave us a free roll on the house! I have been recommending this place to all my friends since my last visit. UPDATE: came in today for a take out order and got two lunch specials. Totally screwed up the order. Gave us no miso soup, put no teriyaki sauce for the teriyaki chicken, gave us tempura veggies instead of tempura rolls. Idk how you screw that part up. Only thing they got right was California rolls. What a joke.

Can’t say enough good things about this place. I wish we had a sushi place this personal where the owners are nice and sushi chefs enjoy what they do near us. Came to this place visiting family for the holdiays. The inside to rice ratio is great and the staff is a joy to talk to ans they offered me some tasting of sashimi which was a treat. Can’t wait to come back

Really cute little sushi joint! They have a sushi bar on the left and you can see all the actions going on in the kitchen. The restaurant is really clean and I love their pots and utensil settings that make you feel like home. Tried their green tea tiramisu too and it is pretty good. The tiramisu is like ice-cream and is not too sweet. Highly recommend this place :)

I was looking for a good take out sushi place and I think I found it! Super friendly staff, very reasonably priced and tasty as can be! Highly highly recommend: the baked salmon roll! not only was it amazing but probably the largest sushi roll I’ve ever been served, my taste buds are still in heaven. I also got the spicy scallop roll, not my fav but still good

I’m not a sushi guy but my wife and daughter are. Very small place and very friendly staff. We had a spicy tiger roll, Mexican roll, bento box with teriyaki chicken and California rolls. The chef was making recommendations and making food such as a scallop dish and salmon rolls. Some was supposed to be «no charge» just so we could try it but is was actually on the receipt. Food was all great! The staff was very friendly! My wife and daughter were is heaven when we left. Give this small Mom & Pop place a try, we will be back as well! One tip — there is no alcohol served and no fountain soda machines. No beer or saki, no 5 star.

This is a great local mom n’ pop. Every time I go they are always super friendly and accommodating. It is very small but who cares what it looks like when they have damn good food! I would say prices are decent not expensive and not cheap either. I would highly recommend: –The Machu Piccu(my favorite) –The Avocado Ball –The Sunday Afternoon I have also tried the scallop roll under their ‘house specials’ which was alright. I asked for not spicy and it still came spicy when I tried it. Probably won’t order again. All in all I think this place is a hidden gem. Can’t go wrong with good customer service and good food.

I’ve been here twice, once when it first open. The food was alright and the guy who was our server had asked us for a 5 star Unilocal review and offered free sodas. Fast forward to present day I went to Sushi Art last weekend when a couple of places I was planning to go to had a long wait. First, walking in you will notice how small the establishment is, when me and my bf got there there was only two parties. This is a Korean Japanese restaurant so the flavors are not what you would expect from Japanese food. I just recently came back from Tokyo and a bento here isn’t anything like a bento I’ve had in japan. The food is decent, it’s definitely in the B range for me. Now service, I think the waitress I had was great. She was cheerful, informative, and pretty attentive for the most part. What really pissed me off was the owner. I ordered a 3 item bento. For around $ 15 something me and my bf shared because I wasn’t feeling too hungry. When the bento came out I noticed there was no rice. I mean where in the world does a bento not come with rice? When I asked what happen to the rice the waitress asked the owner who mentioned the 3 item bento doesn’t come with rice. Now I call some mad bullshit, because if you look at their Unilocal photos all the damn bentos have rice. They feed me some bullshit about how dinner doesn’t come with rice… In the end they gave me rice and I was like okay that’s cool. But the next biggest bullshit comes at the end. Just was we pay the bill I notice a «sharing fee» for $ 5. Who in the hell charges you money to share a meal? I’m not paying some fee that is about 30% of my meal. I could have just had my bf order food and say I wasn’t eating. I understand splitting fees that are in the 2 – 3 dollar range when people SPLIT your meals for you. When we bring this up the poor waitress comes and tells us it’s her fault that she didn’t mentioned there was a sharing fee. Keep in mind I could hear the conversation between her and this older women who I assume is the manager. There is no disclaimer on the menu anywhere about such a fee and nor do I think it’s the responsibility of the wait staff to voice out the establishment’s policy which should be clearly written. I was about to go ape shit and report them to the better business bureau if they didn’t take off that bullshit fee. What is to say they can’t just make up anything they want? such as a breathing fee. In the end they took it off and we paid and left. Now I have eaten at a TON of places in my life. From low to high end restaurant, and I never gotten some a retarded fee. For a new establishment that isn’t prospering this is not the way to attract/retain customers.

Came here with my gf and we weren’t too hungry so we ordered a three item bento, which was about $ 16. We went with the teriyaki chicken, bulgogi, and California rolls; it also came with a miso soup and salad. The food was pretty good, but a few bites in we noticed that we didn’t have a side of rice which bentos usually come with. So we asked our waitress, who then went to speak with who I assume is one of the owners, came back and said that it normally doesn’t come with a side but they would make an exception one time and gave us a small bowl of rice. My gf and I thought it was odd that a bento doesn’t come with rice since it’s usually standard(and the Unilocal pictures of the bentos all had rice). After eating, the check came and we noticed that there was a $ 5 «share fee», which we thought was pretty bogus since they didn’t split the meal onto different plates or anything, and the place was pretty empty so we shouldn’t have to pay for taking up a two person table with only one meal(e.g., they weren’t losing money by us ordering one plate to share). We brought up the charge to the waitress because it wasn’t mentioned by her earlier, nor was it written on the menu. She went to speak with the owner again, and after a couple minutes said that it was her fault for forgetting to tell us since she was new. I really don’t think that was the reason, and its just the owners policy to charge a flat $ 5 extra if you share regardless of what you order(the share fee would have been 30% of our meal total which is ridiculous). They removed the fee after we complained and we paid and left. The waitress was very kind and apologetic about the mishaps. It’s unfortunate that she will have to deal with the unfair policies that the owners have put into place because she was good. I don’t think a new restaurant should charge their customers a share fee if they want to have people come back. The food was good but not great and the place doesn’t seem to have a lot of customers.

This is a small family sushi joint. I mean really small. The sushi bar is on the left side and a row of tables to the right, that’s it. It’s more of a sushi roll place and I’m really not a fan of sushi rolls. We started with the Jalapeño Bomb — two jalapeños stuffed with spicy tuna, tempura fried and drizzled with a spicy mayo sauce and eel sauce. It was okay. Not spicy for me. I expected a bigger kick which never came. My wife got the Love, Sashimi & Sushi Combo. 4 pcs of sashimi, 4 pcs of nigiri sushi and 8 pcs of California roll. The sashimi pieces were on the small side. The fish itself was just okay freshness wise. And needless to say, I didn’t like the cal rolls. Spicy Chirashi — This was a fail for me. The cuts of fish I got were small and some looked like they were leftover prices from other prime cuts. Underneath the fish was a salad with a miso vinaigrette?! What is that doing there? Underneath the salad was the rice(flavored by the vinaigrette by now). A Chirashi is usually sashimi with sushi rice underneath, period. This is not a Chirashi in my book. My other gripe, it wasn’t spicy. It had a small(tiny minuscule) serving of spicy tuna. Is that why it was called spicy? A total FAIL. Tempura Udon — the broth was weak in flavor. The shrimp tempura was mixed into the soup. At other Japanese restaurants, the shrimp is usually served separately, to keep it crispy. Not here. Tuna Leaf — this was good. It was a free dish served by the sushi chef. It’s a piece of tuna with the bone still attached, dipped in tempura batter and fried Just watch out for that big bone. Service was good. Price is on the high side I really wish I could give this place more stars, the proprietors seemed like a nice family. But the food was a real disappointment to my family. 2015 Review #115

Decent spot for a quick lunch. Really sweet owners and great service. I can tell from these pics that the Chef is really creative, however I thought my spicy chirashi bowl was just OK. Wasn’t too excited about the quality, but it was good for a quick lunch and if you happen to be in the area. This place is more of a «Korean/Japanese» than a real sushi restaurant, but… it is Brea. All in all, it was a decent lunch. I do hope they change their cheapie reusable wooden chopsticks and patterned cloth napkins, though. That was a bit unappetizing.

Even though this is a new restaurant, I can say with certainty that Sushi Art is the tastiest sushi joint around Brea. The chef has extremely creative and delicious creations, and the fish tastes fresh and flavorful. We ordered a variety of food(sushi rolls, salmon teriyaki, tempura, green tea mochi for dessert), and everything exceeded our expectations. The service was exceptional. Both the chef and the waitress were kind, attentive, and helpful. This is my new favorite sushi place, and I’ll definitely be coming back.

Ordered a lunch special to go. I ordered the 2 item special and picked California roll and assorted 4 piece sushi. The California roll was okay. There wasn’t seaweed all the way around so every piece I picked up fell apart. The only decent piece of sushi was the salmon. All the rest didn’t taste all that fresh. The miso soup was pretty decent. All the reviews for this place are fairly positive so maybe I just got a bad batch. As for me personally, I don’t think I will come here again. Day after update: I reduced my rating from two stars to one. I got sick from eating here. Don’t eat here.
