First time here. Ordered joys special katsu, cali sushi roll, pot stickers, and shrimp. My bf had the short ribs plate. Katsu was all breading and over cooked(burnt) sushi(basic) pot stickers(old) shrimp(gross and bland) Short ribs was burnt and tiny portions. They give you some type of salad with cabbage on the side. Ugh gross. I spent $ 29 for 2 plates. Ugh never again

Friendly but slow service made ordering a bit of a mixed bag. I had previously eaten at this place and was less than impressed with their food. It was not great, but it was not bad. Then I tried their sushi. I ordered the California roll and Nigiri Combo and it was a fiasco. The roll was messy and uneven, the quality of the fish was poor. The cuts of salmon used were thin, and the cuts of tuna used were so thin they were falling apart on the rice. Both the tuna and the salmon were bland to the point of being almost flavorless. The rice used to make this was not sushi rice, but mushy steamed white rice. Disappointing. A comparable combo from my local grocery store costs less, tastes better, and is better prepared and presented.

Came here last November and got the teriyaki chicken… Chicken was really dry, even with the sauce… Salad was good, rice was good. Hard to mess up rice though… Went again last week and got the cod fish and chips… They went from 1 star to 4 stars in my mind once I tried their fish and chips… Mmm. BUT, its called Joy’s Teriyaki, and the teriyaki was awful. 3 stars for yall

I just cannot give this place more than 2 stars and the only reason I do that is because I may have had a decent meal there once before. The reason I say this is because I know I’ve had their teriyaki before but I don’t really remember when since it was a few yeas ago and I don’t recall saying to myself I would never go there again, so I went there again — last week. And now I’m saying to myself that I won’t go there again. I couldn’t even eat the meal. My sister sent me in to get some food to go, and it was just awful. I ordered the shrimp fried rice. The picture in the restaurant menu looks like the best meal ever, with humungous de-veined shrimp, fresh veggies and fluffy rice. NO lie. The actual meal I received was a clump of sticky rice with a ton of those little shrimp full of veins. There was not even any egg fried with the meal. The only time in my entire life that I have ever even heard of having fried rice without egg is when I was a vegan, but that was a long time ago. I honestly could not even eat what they prepared. I would have returned to the place, gave them their food and asked for my money back but since I got it to go and was already home before I opened the package I really did not want to go back out again. If I can figure out how to work this new phone I will post a pic. I made sure I took one.

Decent teriyaki joint with decent prices. I like how it’s in Fred Meyers shopping center so after I’m done shopping for groceries and am too tired too cook dinner for the family I can come here and have my food ready pretty quickly. What I’ve started doing is ordering before going into shop and by the time I’m done its as if they knew I was coming and are always just bagging it up. Friendly staff and have enjoyed the food.

Great little place for good food. The location is in a shopping center connect to Fred Meyer so it’s convenient. The location was clean, the service was quick and polite. The food was tasty(I got the Spicy Teriyaki Chicken) and cleanly presented. It was pretty well packed at about 3PM when I went, so they get lots of business. They do NOT use MSG because my stomach didn’t get upset. Overall I thought it was great.

I have been disappointed so many times with this place. I try to order something that looks healthy only to discover is is floating is some sugary sauce and the veggies are cooked into submission. Never again.

I should have known better than to do strip mall sushi, but I was craving spicy tuna like no other, and had just finished shopping at Fred Meyer, and lo and behold, I see«SUSHI». Sold. Well, the girl beind the counter was an absolute sweetheart, and the prices were reasonable, but limited to someting like 6 very basic rolls(california, spicy tuna, etc) so I ordered one philly roll and one spicy tuna to go. When I got them home, I excitedly opened the box to find… rice. literally the roll was 90% rice(which was far too sticky) and 10% filling. There was a SLIVER of avocado in each. I was very dissapointed. Needless to say, I scooped out the middles and ate it(it maybe accumulated to a tablespoon worth of spicy tuna total) and chalked it up to a loss. I may go back and try their terriaki, but the sushi… never again. The only reason this even got two stars was the adorable counter girl. The end!

On my quest to find the best chicken teriyaki on the Kitsap peninsula… Thoughts: Not char broiled, sauce a little more spicy than sweet. Salad was chopped iceberg with nearly straight mayonnaise for dressing. Two scoops of steamed rice. Menu included sushi as well as other Asian dishes(mostly Japanese/Chinese and even fish and chips!) Overall, not bad taste, but lacking the finer points in all major categories. $ 6.45

We come here pretty frequently, and they’ve always been decent. The service is always friendly in the many years I’ve come here. I like their shrimp fried rice, and they have the better price for fried rice in town. I also like their udon, gyoza, and shrimp tempura crunch rolls. One thing I do that’s seems so contradictory, is order french fries from here, which is cheap, $ 1.50, and take it over to Subway and have a sandwich with fries. Their fries go good with the sandwiches, and they give you ALOT.

+ 3 Stars because: A. There are dishes on the menu that are at a pretty decent price, especially come lunch time(i.e. Chicken Teriyaki) B. The dishes there are at least on par with what you would expect to find at any decent Teriyaki place and they definitely don’t over/under cook the rice C. In comparison with a lot of other places in town this a grade above most others D. Friendly and prompt service –2 Stars because: A. When you compare what you’re getting dish to dish just to find more bang for your buck(which isn’t saying much) then the restaurant obviously needs to readjust it’s menu and it’s prices. The beef strips is more than two dollars more than the Chicken Teriyaki B. They horribly overcooked the Chicken Katsu, it was like eating cardboard in both taste and texture C. The layout made it feel cramped and the burners and fans ran kind of loud, it was a little hard to think in there while waiting for my food
