Food was good. Service was fast. Tea is ok. The thing that bother me— carpet is very dirty. Restaurant just looks unclean. Bathrooms dirty too. Just figure kitchen isn’t clean either

This is a Brenham must-eat-must-try-must-go-to spot. The restaurant itself is very interesting, being that it serves as a steakhouse during the afternoon and dinner hours then serves as a bar at night. Like most things Brenham, the hours of «open» or «closed» are variable, but you just learn to go with the flow. For dinner, I have tried their surf and turf and it’s definitely great. My family eats here a lot since they live here and enjoy this restaurant immensely. They have a happy hour menu as well. Drinks are on point with lots of cocktail options, interesting mules etc. but that is no surprise seeing as how it functions in dual roles. I would bring any meat or salad loving human being here, because they would be happy as can be. :) What else can I say, but that the food is good.

This was open on July 4rth so we were happy Positive — nice waitstaff — salad bar was adequate — I liked the Italian wedding soup — coleslaw and potato salad at the salad bar was good — fried shrimp was good –casual right next to movie theater Areas of improvement — steak was just ok — it was cooked right but lacked much flavor

I’m from Austin and I’ve stopped here twice on my way to Houston. This place is awesome. Even though they are always packed when we come here, they always take care of us, the service is incredible and they always have tremendous food. Their Chicken Fried Steak is really good and we got in and out at a reasonable time without feeling rushed. Will be back again sometime soon.

Run of the mill food. Only thing we liked was the lemonade. Only stopped by just to try it out on the way to Houston. Will skip next time. The salad had wrinkly, partial rotting cherry tomatoes and not so fresh lettuce. The ‘K-BOB’S FAMOUSKABOB’ steak was over cooked and tough as leather even though requested it medium rare. The salad with chopped up chicken strips was OK, but same aged lettuce and tomatoes. At least the service was good.

Service is friendly and efficient. Food is delicious. If you are looking for a good steak for a good price with friendly service and a convenient location, KBobs can’t be beat. Some of the flooring is a little worn and old, but it’s a clean place. Good salad bar. My favorite thing about this place however is the Manager Juan. He always says«my friend» when he talks to me or other customers. Being halfway between Houston and Austin, I welcome a friendly voice like that. In fact, sometimes pick this restaurant solely 4 its warmth and friendliness.

DIS-GUST-ING I took my four guys here for dinner. Out of our group two guys are construction workers and another was handicapped. The handicapped member of our group is not known for a discerning pallet as his taste buds are not as well developed as they should be. That being said, even he commented that his food was inedible. All-in-all the four dishes we received were all pretty tasteless and/or fatty. Steaks weren’t good at all and the vegetables were all bad too. It”s honestly the worst steakhouse I’ve ever been to. You’d be much better off going to Golden Corral or Applebee’s. Service was ok if you don’t mind not having your drink empty the whole meal. None of us was ever offered a refill. The waitress was friendly enough. All four of us were disappointed in the food and two of us felt vaguely sick afterwards. We had to stop at Whataburger later so one guy could get something he could choke down. The food is incredibly overpriced for how bad it is.

We stopped by there on our way to visit my parents for Christmas. Houston to Waco. The staff were friendly, they were about to close in 30 minutes, and they couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. My only gripe is the steak we ordered. We ordered medium and it was more on the raw side. I would probably order medium well if I were you and wanted medium.

Went here on the way back to Houston from Austin, wanted a chicken fried steak and they definitely had a great one. The chicken fried steak was the only thing I would really remember about this place. It comes with two sides. I got the mashed potatoes and the squash casserole. Mashed potatoes were pretty basic and OK the squash casserole was not. They put red and green bell peppers in it, which I didn’t think complimented it well at all. The salad bar was mediocre. Everything was really fresh but wasn’t a huge fan of their salad dressing selection. The potato soup wasn’t great either. They are reasonably priced and friendly service. I’d come back for the chicken fried steak for sure.

I can’t decide if I’m going to publish this or just print a pic of the food I ate and put it above my running shoes for motivation! Hey, my kids wanted to go to the gocart place behind it, so since College Station doesn’t do kid venues, we went. Good lord nothing screams 8th grade prom to me like a 7,000 calorie meal(minus the acne) consisting of «salad». wow. Memories. Ok… The service was very friendly and fast, for everyone that needs their fragile egos stroked. You’ll enjoy it here. The food was all yellow, including my salad after the potato salad and«rainch-like» dressing, but that was my self-insulgent nostalgia trip, so I cant complain. All kidding aside, the fried catfish I tried was good and so was the CFS. it was just fattening and grease-laden guilt faire. If you like fried stuff at a good price and friendly service, you’re safe here. It reminds me of home, so I enjoyed it a little, but anyone who rates this place highly, please question their food experiences. :)

As many times I’ve heard people talk about this place, I cannot remember going out of my way to dine here. The only reason me and Moms came here was because 1. I was hungry, 2. It’s a small town, not much to choose from. and 3. The other place we drove by first had NOCARS around it. That’s not a good sign. So we detoured to KB’s. This place is not fancy and is overdue for a restaurant takeover, makeover or something by all means; too many dark colors and wood do not make for a vibrant atmosphere. Almost reminds me of a truck stop, but honestly truck stops have more light and color than this place so don’t be surprised. Menus are pretty old and standard: apps, salads, entrees, desert – a typical American selection with burgers, pork chops, fried catfish, and steaks. Skeptical, but hungry, I ordered the fried catfish(with hushpuppies) mac and cheese with green beans. Moms ordered the grilled pork chops with the squash casserole and rice. I have to say what the décor doesn’t appease with the eyes, the food makes up for the shortcoming with big tasty portions. The start, the fish has a golden crispy batter that has been seasoned JUSTRIGHT. No cocktail sauce needed at all. The hushpuppies are an added compliment with a crunchy coating that’s not too dark nor hard so it’s not like you’re biting into a jawbreaker: p Green beans were fresh as well with a little bacon to season it, while the mac and cheese was decent. I had to give it the shakes(salt and pepper) to make it edible, but not that much. Once I stirred in some needed seasoning, it seemed to come together and really taste like mac and cheese. Cannot compliment on the squash casserole nor rice since neither didn’t seem very eye appealing, but the grilled pork chops(mouth drooling like Homer Simpson) were fantastic! Grill marks not only complimented to meat, but did not leave an awful burned aftertaste. These pork chops were carefully prepared and attended to – a must try if you dine. Overall, a filling meal that didn’t have room for desert. Although the food was more than just decent, the atmosphere needs a tune up. I can understand remoldeling is expensive, but a little elevator, jazz, or country music would make the place less dull as you dine. If you’re with company, you’ll be fine, but what I know is that you eat quicker when there is no music. Music keeps customers around to buy more such as desert. With that said, enjoy the food, but it’s not fine dining by means! BTW: Free wifi; eat free on birthday; seniors 55 and over have discounted menu from regular menu

The service was very good. They were pretty empty when we went there and the server was courteous and friendly. The salad bar was fresh and tasty — zero complaints. I would go back and just have that next time. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak meal with green beans and mashed potatoes. The beans tasted like they were canned and while the CFS was good, I have had better. I would return here but probably just for the salad bar unless I’m really hungry — then I will try something else.

We’ve been visiting this place since the late 80’s. Eaten here several times for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Never been disappointed with regards to food and service. A nice family style restaurant.

A group of 11 of us walked in around 9:38 pm on a Saturday night. It was only 22 minutes until their closing time but they were nice enough to let us eat and not rush us. Not only that, the waitresses were very friendly – especially one named Sheri. There was one other table when we entered. Throughout our meal, the waitstaff was very attentive and fast. They did not complain when we requested separate checks for everyone, either. I had the King Ranch Chicken which was the special of the day written on the whiteboard in the entryway. It was $ 6.99 and included a side dish. The side dish options were typical things like sweet potato(which they were out of at the time), fried okra, french fries, green beans, mashed potatoes, salad, etc… I picked a salad for the side dish and it was a large portion. They also had a neat all-you-can-eat salad bar called the Salad Wagon. You can order that for your entire meal for $ 7.49 or add it to your separately-ordered entrée for only $ 3.49. I didn’t do this option because I thought the salad might not be fresh at closing time on Saturday night. However, I walked through the Salad Wagon and the salad items still looked fresh. Next time I come I’ll get the Salad Wagon regardless of the time. The soup of the day at the Salad Wagon was potato bacon. This restaurant is known for its steak but they also have seafood items with healthy cooking options. I didn’t pay attention to the prices of the meat dishes, but everything else looked fair. My neighbor rated his steak about a 7⁄10. Their beer selection is limited. There is a beer tax of 25 cents. They classify people 55 and older as «seniors.» Seniors get extra discounts. K-Bob’s Steakhouse is conveniently located on the northwest corner of the Hwy 290 @ Hwy 36 intersection. It faces Hwy 290 so it’s very visible from the«freeway.» It is the east neighbor of an Exxon gas station and is in front of a movie theater. This restaurant is located almost in the midpoint between Houston and Austin. I would dine here again if I was traveling on Hwy 290.

Today we walked right, sat right down and ordered here at K-Bob’s! My husband’s chickenfried steak & mashed potatoes/gravy were hot and delicious as were my steak and sweet potato. The salad bar was fresh and full and yummy. It was just as good as the first time it was over 20 years ago.

I do not remember the age I was when I first came here… perhaps 12. I remember the interiour being much larger… Anyway stopped in for lunch on my way to Austin. I noticed as I waited to be seated there were only four servers listed on the seating chart. That seemed a little low to me for a popular a place as I know this is. Not quite half the place was full when I sat down with my son and already the wait staff seemed harried. Order for food and drink was taken in a decent amount of time. I was rather displeased with the prices. A lunch«special» of one entrée and one side was $ 8. My chicken fried chicken was overcooked on the ends and the mashed potatoes were cold to the point the gravy had congealed like Magic Shell over the top. My son didn’t seem to dislike but he certainly didn’t gobble {as he usually does} the corn dog and barely touched the mac n cheese when he announced the need for a pit stop. {Though I asked him when we were first seated and I was told no. So as I am waiting for my child to come out of the bathroom — he insisted on going into the men’s room alone — I notice a strange woman sitting down at my table. I notice my waitress at the register and ask if my food was cleared away because my child was not done. She says yes and has no idea why it was done. She calls over the manager who then apologises and chooses to comp the full check for me which was nice. But I’d have taken the mac n cheese and the *HUGE* cup of milk with me — plus it cost the waitress whatever tip I’d have left. By the time the issue happened the place was full — not an empty seat in the place and people waiting to be seated. BUT. If you cannot allow customers to enjoy their meal because you’re too busy trying to shuttle people in and out the door — as far as I am concerned you’re not running your restaurant properly. I was hoping this would be a fun nostalgic moment. Instead it turned out to be most disappointing and I doubt if I will ever return.

When they say«meet in the middle», this worked perfectly for us. My parents were coming back from Austin, we were in Houston picking up my wife’s sister at Hobby Airport(after a flight from San Francisco, from Japan), and this looked perfect. I’m not sure whom suggested steak, could have been my Dad, who found this online on Yahoo, we all agreed to feed this hungry Japanese lady, steak, for her first meal in Texas. As you will see by the photo, she was very surprised by the size of the iced tea cups. While we take that for granted here, that you just get a half a quart of tea to start off with, that’s nothing you would ever see in Japan, thus the grins in the photo, when having to hold the cups with both hands. We were impressed with the service. The salad bar was nice and unique, very fresh. Someone mentioned that this may be Sysco food, and while I must agree that it could be, in part, none of us have proof of that(like a photo of a Sysco delivery truck), so I am not going to support that theory. I will just say that the steaks were excellent(and I do NOT believe that the meat source was Sysco at all, yet local beef), and that’s what we came for, the steaks. The funny thing is that when my parents left the Austin convention center at the same time that we left Hobby Airport in South Houston, we both pulled into the parking lot here at the very same few seconds. In fact I had to wait for my Dad to pull in, as we really arrived at the exact same minute, down to seconds, and pulled into the parking lot at the same time. So when they say this is the perfect place to meet in the middle, that is true in our experience. This appears to be a family owned restaurant(as in not a chain) that has been open in Brenham for decades. We most certainly do suggest it as a perfect place to meet up directly between Houston and Austin. Great steaks, nice service, fun unique salad bar«trailer», total Texas look and feel, reasonably priced and nice fresh iced tea served in GIANT cups. :)
