I visit Brenham rather frequently for work and this is always a definite dinner place. When in town I come here at least once/week for dinner. The food is always cooked well.(I’m not a broccoli guy, but their broccoli is always cooked to perfection.) The menu is large and has steak and seafood on the menu, hence the name. I haven’t had anything bad on the menu. The restaurant has a good drink menu with a full bar and the wait staff is always great. I’ll continue to come here for a long time.

My family and I enjoyed a wonderful meal here! I was surprised the food was soo good! My wife had the fried shrimp, and I had the crawfish étouffée, both were excellent! Lisa our waitress was great and knew her stuff. The staff were professional and attentive! We will definitely return!

Steak was over cooked. Had to send it back. When the new one came out you could barely cut it with a knife. It was tough as shoe leather. Shrimp was over cooked and cold. I would never waste money there again. Could have got a better steak at Denny’s.

The receptionists at the motel recommended this restaurant. Looks like a mom and pop place that needs to be on one of the reality TV shows, why? Because the food was incredible. I had the stuffed Salmon. O baby it was Good! Service was awesome they are glad you are there. Very friendly.

Food was good. We had the Chicken Fried Steak and Chicken. The 8 oz was huge! Both were hot and not tough. We upgraded to the Baked Potato and it was fully loaded. We also got a side order of Fried Okra. Definitely one would have been enough to share, it was a ‘Boatload’. No pun intended. The Garlic Bread melted in your mouth. It was a very nice dinner.

Do not eat the crawfish. The tails had NO seasoning. I’m guessing that they boiled then in plain water. There was seasoning on the outside and they was butter on them. I’m not sure what type of recipe they tried but it was definitely not cajun!

Meh. It was okay. Not bad but not great. Prices were okay. Ambience was meh. It was really nothing to write home about. Options in the area are limited so there aren’t many choices for seafood. Might go back when I get tired of the other local establishments.

Had the grilled catfish and shrimp. It was outstanding. Also had the boiled hot and spicy shrimp for an appetizer, it was great too. Service was good, but not great. Very friendly staff. We will be back.

Pretty bad service and rubbery fish. If you have a chance go elsewhere for your meal. I stopped by for lunch on what seemed like a pretty slow Saturday and there was no reason for such lazy service. Plates weren’t bussed, trash(cracker and straw wrappers) left on the table, coffee not refilled until asked, bill not dropped off until asked. I got the fried fish/shrimp platter and it looked like it could have been served at a high school cafeteria, right down to the dry dome of unappetizing mashed potatoes and rubbery fish.

Great seafood and steak place. They have good seasonal oyster and fried alligator. Good size food and high quality taste. Grilled plates are delicious. Fun mini-concert occasionally.

Ate there last night & found the food to be quite good. The fried catfish was well prepared. The grilled salmon was first rate. All in all, we were very pleased with our meal. We were surprised that hush puppies were not included with the meal. $ 5 for 8 hush puppies seemed a little steep. They were delicious though. Will certainly eat there again.

We visited this place for the first time back in the summer of 2012. Since we were coming back to this area again, I had enjoyed it so much the first time that I wanted to come back again this time. Kind of out in the middle of no where, this pretty large and spacious seafood and steak place serves excellent food! The place is very casual, the servers very friendly and helpful… I learned this is family owned and most of the people working here are related to each other. There is just so much on the menu that sounded soooooooo totally delicious, but I knew that the portions were going to be big, so I ordered the Blackened Tilapia with Crawfish Étouffée with a side of fries and vegetables. The portion was big! And the fish was perfectly cooked… but the crawfish étouffée sauce was out of this world. A liiiiittle salty for me, but still delicious nevertheless! I loved the fries with a light crisp too… thank goodness the portion of fries wasn’t too big as the very generous sized fillets of fish over a good portion of steamed vegetables will more than fill you up. One thing I kept staring at on the menu were the fried alligator and frogs leg appetizers… I’ve never tried them before, but I heard they’re very popular. Anyway, we chickened out and went with the fried mushrooms and Okra :) I figured they probably tasted like chicken anyway: P Good food, excellent service… I just wished they weren’t located so far away then I’d be a regular here :)

Friendly staff, although slow to get service or drink refills, crab legs were overdone, chicken fried steak tender but no seasonings on the meat nor the batter, would not go out of my way to eat here again

The BF and I were craving something wholesome and definitely southern. What’s more perfect than seafood? We both walked in on a Friday night for dinner and were seated promptly. Our waitress was attentive, not as prompt as I would have liked, but she had other tables too. We both ordered the fried alligator and hush puppies to start with and little did we know that it was just to die for. The fried alligator was seasoned perfectly, not too salty, and was cooked to a perfect golden brown crisp. It was something worth savoring, same goes with the hush puppies. The in-house made tartar & ranch sauce complemented the appetizers very well, wish I had the recipe. The bf ordered the shrimp gumbo and said that it was very tasty and reminded him of his mom’s delicious gumbo also, that HAS to mean it was a big thumbs up. He’s very particular about his food, so I’ll take his word for it. I myself had the fried shrimp plate with fries, and by far it was probably one of the best fried shrimp plates I’ve had. Being a huge restaurant goer in Houston, I know my seafood restaurants very well, and this by far has got to be one of the best that I’ve had. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and seasoned with an in-house secret, I swear. It was addicting. Buttery and completely wholesome & yummy. It’ll make any girl’s tummy happy. I will return again soon.

We visited on Feb 15 in celebration of a birthday using prior reviews and was not disappointed. The service was good with an attentive waitress We didn’t wait long for our food. The catfish was very lightly fried and no fishy taste… perfect sized filets. The shrimp tasted ocean fresh and delicately fried too. The fried oysters were excellent. We arrived around 6pm on a Friday evening and was immediately seated. It became very busy around 7pm. We will definitely visit again.

The owners are on the ball and doing a great job. The service is very good and the food is always fresh and hot. There’s still some work that needs to be done out back to make the patio an attractive place to be. Also, the back game room area feels like a catch all storage room and less like an area for entertaining. We will continue to eat here as it’s close to the house and acceptable to our pallet. I like the craw fish etouffe. I order it on most visits. It comes with the rice on the side, which is nice, as you can add as much as you need.

This is a deep fried seafood mecca. While I can’t say that I would eat this much fried food more than once at month, if that, there does come a time when it’s desired, and Sealand really impressed me. My wife and I jokingly call it «Asian Cajun», and there are two reasons for that. To begin with, when traveling down Hwy 190 through Washington Texas earlier in the day, we saw a sign that said«Asian Cajun» in front of a tiny roadside restaurant. While we didn’t stop as we were not ready to eat, we are going to go back and see what that means. And then the second reason, the owners of this Restaurant are Asian, and the seasoning of the food does reflect that on a very minor note, in a good way. So here’s our story; When coming into Brenham from Chappel Hill, unable to locate anything worth eating in Chappel Hill open past 8pm, we sighted this very well lit seafood place with a full parking lot. A quick U-Turn on 290, and finding one of the few parking spaces at 8:50 and we were seated. The inside is large, well lit, and there are actually two large dining rooms on each side of the building. We picked our own booth right at the front(cause I wanted to see in the kitchen now and then and take in all the traffic and people watching). Our service was great. The first thing I asked is «Do you use Texas Gulf Shrimp?» Our waiter said he didn’t know but would ask, and like greased lightning, the owner came right up and stated with a smile and deserving pride, «We ONLY use local Texas shrimp, all FRESH!»… That’s all I needed to hear. So we ordered appetizers of Alligator and Gumbo with steamed rice on the side. The Alligator(tail I presume) was the best I have ever had. All too often Alligator gets dry when cooked, but this was fresh and juicy. No, it doesn’t taste like chicken… :) The Gumbo was seasoned differently(like I said, we call it Asian Cajun) than I have ever tasted, and having the fresh perfectly steamed rice to mix fresh at the table made it memorable. I really liked that. For entrees we selected 15 Jumbo shrimp, 8 Fried Oysters with side salads, fries and mashed potatoes. For the salads, I asked if they make any of their own dressings from scratch, and was pleased to hear that yes, they make the ranch and blue cheese right there every day. The Blue Cheese was in fact obviously home made and excellent. The fries were crunchy, and while I have eaten a lot of fries in my life, these were different with a quite memorable texture and light seasoning. Very different than average. The Oysters were very fresh and delicious as were the shrimp. And I can certify, these are REAL luscious authentic fresh Texas shrimp. The batter is unique(using a lot of egg). The mashed potatoes were light and fluffy with an obviously home made cream gravy and to set off the dipping of the shrimp, the shrimp sauce was obviously home made, fresh and uniquely spiced(Asian Cajun), :), and the tarter sauce was home made as well. Final note, the Alligator came with it’s own Asian style dipping sauce that proved our«Asian Cajun» designation of this food. When we asked our waiter(just joking around), «Is your food Cajun on Asian Cajun», he said«It’s just normal seafood». Normal it is not. Quite good it is. While not –massively– impressive, it’s unique and it left me curious about other items on their menu, thus the 4 stars(for Brenham). We very much enjoyed it and will most certainly stop by again when in Brenham. It’s nice to find a one off, large and popular family owned and operated business(also employing locals) with a diverse client base serving something hot, fresh and unique for a fair price, that tastes great with good service. Serving fried dishes based on FRESH Texas Gulf Shrimp played a very strong role in my decision to throw out 4 stars.
